There is a gorgeous cut "evolution of Life" sequence that really should have belonged in the animated 80s movie "Heavy Metal", which otherwise is still a nice work, but much more tawdry and campy than serious. It too was similar in this kind of style, and I wonder if Nick had inspiration from it, or even seen it...either way it's a real shame it never got put in the film, because it wasn't ever complete ...you can still find that footage on KZbin as well.

I once went on a bender researching whale, sperm whales in particular. And this reminds me of the fact that whales are descendants of land mammals gone back to the sea. One of the creatures definitely look like pakicetus. This was amazing, cause it feels like it touches on circles, cycles, evolution, etc. Thanks for making my day!

I really like the allusion to Garden of Earthly Delights from :55 to 1:22 I don't know if it's just me or not but right there in the middle of that the skeletons on horseback remind me of that one part of the original Fantasia with the big demon and all the souls he brings up from the dead. All in all this is such a cool animation, I feel like there's lots of layers and things to discover and ponder!

I'm curious to hear what everyone's interpretation of this short is. My mind instantly made connections with Climate Change and The 6th Mass Extinction. The fumes of smoke at 0:56 symbolise our industrial activity while the skulls and the skeletons of deceased animals at 0:59 symbolise the decline of Earth's biosphere as a result. The hourglass shown at the beginning and at the end of the video illustrates the direness of our situation and how little time humanity has to avert the worst effects of Climate Change. The whole short is quite surreal and ambiguous and it can probably be interpreted in many ways, but the narrative of Climate Change seems pretty fitting given all the clues scattered throughout the video. Excellent job!

@@ncrossI saw it being used by a account on facebook (probably Chinese since it looks like every other Chinese account using copyrighted videos, films, music vidoes etc.) I saw the entire video : The Pig Farmer. There was a song running over the original audio, probably to trick bots that strike copyrighted content. I went into the comment section to find the artist, since the account that posted it didnt have a profile picture which i thought was typical of one of these Chinese accounts. I don't recall the name of the account unfortunatly.
