Some peope are asking " The blind soldier" version is the sequel after "The Stone Kingdom"? Not really. Actually, when I was drawing the story of Medusa and the blind soldier in 2017, I didn't complete Medusa’s past very well. So I didn`t post it on KZbin, make sure people didn`t confuse them. but you can read it on my facebook👇 reurl.cc/ka2Dqx So they`re not the same series. You can think of it as a story from another "What if".🐍🐍

the fact that I'm so invested in this. I've always loved the story of medusa and seeing you put your own twist on the story as well as giving her such depth, it's just, mwah chefs kiss. she never wanted to hurt anyone and when she saw that he was using this power for bad she knew she had to stop him. I love the hidden warning you added as well with his wife wanting to leave him. even if she truly loved him, she knew how bad he would become and how his heart had turned to stone (pun intended), and she knew she could do nothing to help him. I think that's why in the end she didn't go to his side and instead she left him there, turning her back on him and walking away, and when he saw that he realized how horrible and evil he had become, that's why we see him giving in. wonderful piece, I'm excited to see what you do in the future!

Villains that aren't relatable are lazy writing and make for boring stories IMO. Like in most versions, Medusa is a villain. But we feel great pity for her. Thing is, this is a *complete* inversion of his character. Perseus in mythology only went after Medusa to stop the king from raping and forcefully marrying his mother (and the king sent him after her with the explicit intention of getting him killed), after he was finished using her head as a weapon he relinquished it as an offering to Athena and lived the rest of his days as a wise king next to Andromeda, the only woman he ever loved. For Greek Hero standards, that is *extremely* tame.

My head canon for why he betrayed Atlas is because he wanted the head of monster with snakes for hair. Perceus realized that the head he got wasn't the one Atlas wanted and it would not only show that the gorgon might still be alive, but also that he would force him to hunt down and murder a child. So, he had to get him out of the picture. Sadly, he his new responsibilities ended up making fill the same niche Atlas did back when he still ruled.

What are you talking about? In the original version, the immortal sisters (Stheno and Euryale) were the sisters of Medusa (Medusa was a mortal). They were originally the priestesses of Athena temple. However, one day, Poseidon saw Medusa, and captivated by her beauty, he raped her in the Athena temple. And Athena saw that as a transgression from Medusa, because someone has to take the blame, and gods are blameless (although some interpretation says that Athena did so out of jealousy, and others say that Medusa's beauty was the cause, and therefore should be punished). Yes, that's how god's logics work. So Athena cursed Medusa, and when Stheno and Euryale defended Medusa, they were cursed too.

I really enjoyed this! It’s like if a Disney Renaissance film had the dark, gritty “survivalist” tone of “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal”, especially how it manages to tell a mature and compelling story without any dialogue. SIDE NOTE: It’s probably just a coincidence, but I couldn’t help but notice how the stripes on Medusa’s snakes have the exact, same dark green colors as Fang from “Primal.” xD

@@bioshock676 1. Watching animations is NOT the same as watching videos explaining how animations work, or actually trying to make an animation of your own 2. Saying that you expected an animation but only got a slideshow, but it was okay because it surpassed expectations could put down other people who could see your comment and make slideshow animations as they could think that their slideshow animation won't be as well liked or praised if it's not either a full animation or exceedingly good. 3. While, yes, my comment may seem unnecessary, as an animator myself who has done 2d frame by frame animations myself and am currently pouring my heart and soul into a slideshow animation, your comment genuinely hurt my feelings and made me feel like if my slideshow wasn't on par with this video's or if I turned it into an animation, people would dislike it and not pay attention to it. Your comment was rude, ignorant and the phrasing made it seem insulting, like it was dumbing down the actual amount of work put into this. I am sorry if this was not your intention, and reading your reply, I am most certain it was not, but please work on your phrasing when saying stuff like this as it can genuinely hurt someones feelings or seem rude and off-putting.

Your delivery of the point in the form of continuing to chastise me while insulting me by calling me rude and ignorant I find harder to swallow. If you genuinely want someone to take you seriously, understand where you're coming from, and admit they were wrong without hostility then you need to do so without the insults. While they may have been called for in your mind, all they did for me was almost ruin the points you were trying to make. As this comment thread makes clear, people focus on the negatives first regardless of what the commenters intentions may have been or how long the reply is. I'll work on my phrasing with future comments but you should work on getting your points across without having to insult whomever you've taken offense with.

This is an unexpected, but incredibly appreciated, surprise. I loved how you portrayed Medusa more sympathetically in the Prequel, and it’s so cool to see a version of her that is becoming more of a Greek hero than just a random monster (especially since, as many have said these days, her most famous origin story is incredibly tragic and messed up). Plus, it’s good to hear this is the *true* sequel, as while I think Medusa and the Blind Soldier is good, it was too sad for me and didn’t always make a lot of sense regarding what was going on. This story feels more like a genuine continuation. I do hope we get at least one more part to your version of Medusa-hopefully one where she can find companionship and a happy ending. I’d love to see that, especially since so few people are willing to show that. 🙂

I really like this version of the story, as it tells a different event to the classic story while also incorporating other elements, such as the fact Medusa was originally BORN as a Gorgon rather than it being a curse by Athena. And Perseus here is a surprisingly effective villain. He's cold, ruthless, strong and powerful as expected of a Greek Hero, and most importantly smart. He clearly remembers Medusa and seems to have pieced together that his shield's petrifying power came from her rather than the snake he cut off and took advantage of his scared eye's lessened sight to bypass that while still allowing him to see her. And you can clearly tell he's not a guy who plays around with his enemies. The second he sees you're a threat, he immediately goes for the kill. No monologues. No shows of honor. No underestimating his opponent.

I love the way in which you wove together a mythological "What If" here. What if it was Perseus who was the true monster, and the story was a lie? In the end, there's a darkness, a sort of sad acceptance of "Yeah... this is how this should have ended," in her eyes, filled with a loathing of the very people she has sought to avoid for so long. In a way, she becomes the 'monster' of myth, but in a greater way, she puts an end to the blight that her near death caused in Perseus' hands. The story of Medusa in myth has varied perspectives on the character, and this much more sympathetic variation, and a view of Perseus not as the clever and brave hero, but an opportunistic and demanding monster far worse than those he ever slew, it's ... interesting and certainly visually compelling. I'm very glad you finished this work.

Absolutely fantastic, beyond gorgeous, 10/10 great. The art, music and storytelling all come together to make something that feels grand and dynamic despite being a slideshow. I love Medusa’s portrayal and her giving in and accepting the label forced on her by others was tragic, judging by the smile at the end. In the end I think I ended up feeling the most sorry for the king, being blinded by anger and accidentally turning his wife to stone, sending him on a downwards spiral into tyranny all while constantly gripped by regret, constantly fighting and killing since at that point it seems to be all he knows, and at the very end when he sees his wife turn away from him, you can see how all his guilt and regrets consume him and the way he just gives up made my heart ache. Two tragic ends befitting the retelling of a classic Greek legend.
