I had rigid jeans since I was a kid and even though they are a bit hard to break in they never hurt me or broke my skin, I would suggest to buy 2 sizes up in the waist because they do shrink more than one size but also in the width of the legs and don’t ever dry them in the drier machine, just air hanged them inside out

They've recently pulled out some 1870s Levis from a mine. The crutch has a rivet too and the miners joked that Levis kept it until a director sat around a camp fire and burnt his bollocks.

I don’t understand what’s meant by “burn the garment”. When textiles were produced domestically, I sold chemicals into plants like Cone Mills. The bleach, dye and finishers never had a fear of burning a garment, and I guarantee the industrial chemicals are far harsher than anything you could find in a grocery store.

Can anyone help me please? I bought 501xx 1947 LVC size 31, I'm a 30", tried the soak in cold water, warm water and even washed them at 30° and got almost 0 shrinkage... how can I shrink them??
@strawberryphant0m1796 ай бұрын
if they were dark raw denim they should definitely shrink, if they were pre washed pair they wont shrink much. 40 degrees and tumble dry will shrink them but I would be careful.

If your first wash was in cold water you probably won't get a good shrink now, unfortunately

I consider myself knowledgeable about vintage Levi's 501 shrink-to-fit jeans having worn them since the late 1960s. Before wearing new 501 STFs I wash and dry them twice because they are so stiff it would hurt to wear them. Tricking people into wearing unwashed rigid denim for fashion considerations is testing their intelligence. Suggesting that a freezer can be used as a washing machine is disinformation.
@IsthisMike10 ай бұрын
Tricking? Lol what benefit would Levi have by telling their customers to not wash their denim? Honestly, washing jeans would decrease the durability which would lead to customers buying more. So again no benefit for them to “trick” customers.
@drwisdom110 ай бұрын
@@IsthisMike It isn't a question of benefit, it is about poor recommendations. If I give you directions that includes a broken bridge that isn't a benefit to me, but it is poor directions. If I know the bridge is out it is a trick. You still have to buy a pair of 501 STFs to then not wash them. So there is a benefit to Levi's. The underlying problem is Levi's spends its time touting things like sustainability rather than the quality of their jeans. Not washing is just another diversionary form of that.
