RESPONSE to Mark DLT: Thank you for engaging us on this all-important topic. We welcome respectful dialogue. (1) It’s disingenuous to classify all of Paul’s disparaging remarks against the “law” as referring to Talmud or “circumcision” but then suggest that all his favorable comments about the “law” refer to Torah. This is not rightly dividing. Further, scripture provides no basis for isolating circumcision from Torah requirements while preserving other Torah requirements (except the distinction between ceremonial vs. moral law). (2) The fact that Paul would circumcise Timothy after excoriating circumcision indicates valid reasons for abiding by customs that are obsolete and “disappearing” (Heb. 8:13; Gal. 3:24-25; 2 Cor. 3:7-11; Rom. 7:6) for securing one’s relationship with God-salvation. The fact that Peter would still be eating kosher approx. fifteen years after Pentecost, despite Christ saying, “nothing that enters a man defiles him,” proves the same (Mark 7:15; Acts 10:14). Paul: “Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or concerning a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ” (Col. 2:16-17). Kosher and feasts were Torah requirements (Lev. 23:2; 1 Chron. 23:31). Paul: “One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind” (Rom 14:3-5). (3) The Holy Spirit empowers believers-not to practice the law-but to “fulfill” its “righteous requirement” (Rom. 8:4; Matt. 5:17), which Jesus and Paul showed was “love,” not rigid adherence to Torah (Matt. 7:12; Matt: 22:40; Rom. 13:10; Gal. 5:14; Gal. 6:2; James 2:8). (4) The law brought knowledge and guilt of sin (Rom. 3:20; Rom. 2:19-20; Rom. 7:7). (5) In Galatians, Paul uses “circumcision” and “the law” interchangeably because “circumcision” described the whole category of Torah believers; it was a synecdoche that stood for the entire Torah covenant (Eph. 2:11). But the Lord said through Jeremiah, “I will make a new covenant..not like the one I made with your fathers” (Jer. 31:31-32; Luke 22:20; 1 Cor. 11:25; 2 Cor. 3:6; Heb. 8:8; Heb. 10:16). (6) A grown “man” (faith community) only requires a “schoolmaster’s” elementary schooling if he suffers a developmental disability. The law is set aside because it was weak through the flesh, unable to make anyone righteous, and allowed people to boast in the flesh (Rom. 8:3; Gal. 2:16; Gal. 3:11; Rom. 3:20; Phil. 3:4; Gal. 6:13). Like a college grad boasting of 3rd-grade accomplishments, the “law” community was boasting about their legalism when God offered the PROMISE and demanded maturity. As surely as a schoolmaster has only temporary custody over the “heir as long as he remains a child,” so the law had a temporary function which is fulfilled and replaced by the coming of Christ and the outpouring of the Spirit, the Promise (Gal. 3:24; Gal. 4:1). (7) Jesus is our new High Priest, offering a different sacrifice on a new altar in a new temple. “When the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also” (Heb. 7:12). You claim “moral law” is an unscriptural concept. Wrong. The phrase is not found in scripture, but the idea is. The Law is set aside as a category, but specific moral requirements are retained and even enhanced for new covenant believers-thus “law” vs. “moral law” (Matt. 5:38-48; Matt. 15:19; Rom. 1:26-28; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; 1 Tim. 1:8-11). We must harmonize between the New Testament’s removal of “The Law” as a category and its selective enumeration of specific moral requirements that still apply within the New Covenant-the “moral law.”

There is NO term Moral Law. It's NOT in scripture. The "main" purpose of the Torah was not to point to sin (first instruction was to Adam and Eve) the purpose of The Torah was Love. How to LOVE Yah and Others ( but showing loving-commitment to thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands. (Exodus) 20:6) and Blessings or Curses. Paul followed the Torah and taught it. Was falsly accused of NOT teaching it (Acts). All of Romans was about Faith and Obedience He starts and ends Romans with these two words Rom 1:5 & 16:26. Galatians was about circumcision as a means for salvation. Context of Galatians is important. You took those verses out of context. Paul said we establish the Law in Rommans calls it spiritual, and so much more. Legalism was strictly about the Talmud This WAS & IS STRICTLY MANS INSTRUCTIONS. Nobody was ever reprimanded for following the Torah (As I said Mashiak did). Why did Paul follow the law and Mashiak and the rest of the disciples?
