I own the Pivot Shuttle SL, I"ve had it for about 1.5 years. I ride 4-5 times per week, my buddies have full power Levo and one rides a Luna (160nm) motor. I keep up with all of them, granted I'm a little more in shape because I ride more, but in my opinion the Shuttle SL is one of the fastest emtb available. Loam Wolf crew said the same thing in their review, it's sketchy fast. Easy to get yourself into trouble on the downhills. It's an expensive bike for sure, but so far I can't find anything I'd rather buy. Mine weighs 36 lbs, confirmed by two different local shops. As for the battery, it lasts as long as my full fat buddies bikes do on our longer rides. My 2 cents

That jam2 is a sweet looking bike! And as far as range you can get from these it really depends on assist level. If they’re on max assist vs a full power ebike, they won’t go near as far as one of those typically.

Nice video gents! To the best of my knowledge, one thing to note about the Fazua powered bikes is that the 60nm/450 watts is only available as a temporary 10-12 sec boost which is initiated by holding the ring of the controller up for a couple of seconds, after which it returns to it's normal output of 50nm. In my opinion it's a bit dishonest of companies advertising these bikes as 60nm when in fact the vast majority of your riding time will be spent at 50nm. The Heckler SL is included in this bunch. BTW, as a recent new owner of a 2nd gen Levo SL, I would agree on the handling accolades given by y'all. It's stunning to me how much better it rides than my Gen 2 full fat Levo and it's not even about the weight (only 6 lbs lighter). The geometry tweaks and the mullet set up make it a sports car vs a truck!

The Fazua is 60Nm all the time (Ride 60) but peak power goes from 350W to 450W for 12 seconds. The best of your knowledge is wrong, so your opinion on maufacturers honesty is invalid. I'm sure even Specialized has told a few porkies in their time...
@dsselfe11 ай бұрын
According to Fazua's own support document for the Ride 60, peak power is "up to 60Nm and up to 450w" which is restricted to 12 second stints in turbo mode. Nominal power is 250w which is the same as the SL 1.2 motor. In e-MTB Review's look at the Heckler, his hill climb test revealed it being slower (by a second) over a 1 mile 500 ft climb than the SL. Regardless, these are all good bikes and anyone who has one should enjoy them immensely, tech numbers be damned!
@Paulthenutter3411 ай бұрын
And your SL isn't 'up to' 50Nm?
@dsselfe11 ай бұрын
@@Paulthenutter34 yes you are correct...from Specialized, "Specialized SL 1.2 motor provides 320 w / 50 Nm of peak power and 250 w of nominal power. " However the peak power can be continuous when bike is in 100% power and support setting. It's not a triggered 12 second boost. Granted, the Fazua does have it beat, but only in those brief bursts. That's why the hill climb numbers from E-MTBR Review's video are so similar and it shows the true overall capability of the motors, including all the bikes he's tested. He even states his frustration with the fact that Fazua is promoting the motor as 430-450 watts/ 60 Nm when in reality they aren't that capable. The Orbea rise is a 60N 450w SL bike and it beat the Fazua and the Specialized by over a minute in the same test! It uses the Shimano ep801 full fat motor, which is just detuned by Orbea to 60nN/450w...continous. Maybe I should've gotten the Orbea?!?🤣🤣 (unfortunately the closest dealer is 4 hours from me, so it wasn't an option).

All good points. There seems to be more to it than just newton meters because even eMTB Review test show a surprising difference between Heckler SL and Shuttle SL, which both use Fazua Ride 60. The suspension efficiency and trail vs enduro tires must be a bigger factor than I would’ve expected. Perhaps there’s something else as well. I own the Shuttle SL and my wife planned to buy the Fuel EXe, until she rode it back to back on the same hill as the Shuttle SL. The Trek is a nice bike, but the TQ 50nm motor felt like half the power as the Shuttle SL. It’s an interesting topic that I’m still a little puzzled about.

SL ebikes have an average 35% less torque, weigh only 20% less than full power ebikes, and still have to carry 100% weigh of the rider, however they have 50% smaller batteries. How on earth they can have greater range...? I don't agree. My experience shows opposite.

Toyota corolla vs v8 truck.
@Paulthenutter3411 ай бұрын
The rider does more of the work and SL's are slower. Based on your logic, I shouldn't get anywhere with a normal bike... it has 100% less torque and weighs 60% of a full fat and carry 100% of the rider, but somehow they manage to get people places... Sure, set your full fat to 60Nm and there will be a huge difference in range between the SL in 'turbo', depending on battery size...
@dsselfe11 ай бұрын
If you're asking the SL bike to do the same work as a full fat e-bike, then you will see less than half the range and not even be nearly as fast. It's a compromise, and you only lose 6-10 lbs of dead weight, but you gain a good bit more lively and agile ride in exchange.

See my other comment @@dsselfe , I own the Shuttle SL, all of my friends have full fats. I keep up no problem, I have to put in the work though. My buddies Levo weights 50 lbs, my Shuttle weights 36 lbs. My range is as good as theirs on our longer rides. Rarely do I worry about running out.
