I am looking at the core 200 which is for a smaller room, however im hearing a lot of different things about air purifiers and "true hepa". it is not as effective if it is not true hepa? is it still worth buying a non true hepa filter? I am looking for one for my bedroom due to a lot of dust and Im looking at other brands as well but this one is the most brought up and other brands are either too expensive or mixed reviews. what would you recommend?
@HouseFresh8 ай бұрын
The issue of HEPA is not a big deal for air purifiers. Lower grade filters can actually perform better due to increased air flow. The main issue is looking at air cleaning performance indicators like CADR. We tested the core 200 and I personally found it to be underpowered for the price especially as running costs will be similar to bigger devices like the core 300. If possible I would recommend going for a bigger device than the 200 if you can as you will get more bang for your buck. If you have to choose a smaller device then I would get the vital 100s over the 200 , it tested really well and we hope to have a review live at the end of this month. Thanks for commenting !

Hi mate, I live in a top floor massionette (5 rooms) - hope this isnt a stupid question... if i buy a purifer which covers more space and it was placed in my front room, will it clean some of the air in other rooms also? Reason i ask, im debating on whether to purchase a levoit 600s or smaller version. Would really appreciate any recommendations 👍
@HouseFresh8 ай бұрын
Not a stupid question and a common query I get. If it was an open plan design you could get away with a larger device to clean the entire space but not if they are enclosed rooms. Air purifier brands don’t make this clear so your confusion is very normal! In general try to get one unit for each room you want to keep clean. Larger devices can be run on lower speeds that are much quieter than a small unit running an top speed. They also have a similar running costs so I suggest getting as large as you can live with. The sweet spot right now for performance to spend for a standard room would be the Levoit Vital 200S or Winix 5500-2. My reviews for these: housefresh.com/levoit-vital-200s-review/ housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/ Hope the above helps and thanks for the question!

How does it compare to the medify MA-15? im stuck between the 300s and that one?
@HouseFresh8 ай бұрын
Medify generally charges much more for filters. They recommend every 4 months for the MA-15 at $29.99, which equates $89.97 per year in filters alone. In comparison, Levoit only requires every 6 months, so yearly filter costs for genuine filters are only $59.98. When we tested the medify-15 and it took 58 minutes to clean our test room, while the Core 300 took 40 minutes, so you get better performance with the Levoit model. However, my main reason for avoiding Medify is the overpriced filters. I hope that helps you. Thanks for the comment!

I believe the scam was their true hepa. I bought it for this purpose to keep the air clean. But mostly my own testing didn't completely help my allergies that much as I'd hope. I was recommended to switch over to the winix 5500-2 and see how that device work for me. I did find even with genuine filters there seemed to be issues with it wearing down fast due to the poor prefilter design being apart of the filter itself. I found issues with air bypassing the prefilter threw poor design. Also the fact that the filter is loose inside the device now snug or tight with a little baby seal that's suppose to make it tight ? I'm not sure how they got away with this poor design of the filter setup, also the characoal is very small amount. I bought aftermarket to help solve some of these issues as far as prefilter and more carbon. But all I can say is I'm disappointed somewhat in the levoit. Hopefully they fix these issues and improve the designs.

I live in Portugal and at the moment the Levoit 300s is €152 and the Winix A330 is €85, so I can buy 2 for the price of a +/-.... but I wanted to know if it's worth it or not, because I think the difference just lies in one having application and the other not. Any device that contains activated carbon will remove vocs but these smaller devices don’t contain much carbon so can quickly need replacing if you have serious issue with vocs. When comparing with the Core 300, the Vital 100s is definitely superior as you get better air cleaning performance, smart functionalities and a removable pre-filter. When comparing against the Core 300s, the Vital 100s is pretty much the same thing. The biggest difference comes with design and footprint: the Vital 100s is slightly bigger and it's not something you might want to place on top of your kitchen counter + it comes with the removable pre-filter which will make it easier to clean regularly without much hassle. Personally, I prefer the Core 300s because it fits the spaces where I use it (my kitchen and my home office). But if you can, I would suggest paying a little more to get the Vital 200S as it’s much more powerful than all these three units (it completed our air cleaning test in 21 minutes!) for just an additional $50: housefresh.com/levoit-vital-200s-review/
