could you tell me the difference between step length generation and step size calculation? when should i use them in my LF process? Thanks!

We have virtual environment here so it is used to determine how far to move. Step Length Generation (i.e., Generates candidate step lengths) When step length is generated than calculate step size. Step Size Calculation (i.e., Calculates the precise step size )
