@LewDixAviation5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that! Much appreciated! I always want the environment to be fun. Thats the main thing. If the students are comfortable in their environment they will be open to learning so much more! Fundamentals of instruction right there! Many many instructors forget about that!

I gotta punch this story in, bro. Years ago an owner of a high-performance, all glass-equipped, sweet as pie, Columbia 350 in our local area lost control in IMC. Dude started out VMC flying VFR when he entered IMC. In a stressful attempt to return to VMC, the pilot wiped out and never came home. Nailing the skillz in unusual attitude-recovery is the shiznit, but that's no prob 'cause Juan's got a wing-rockin' mentor keepin' him sharp! All the best on the Ride, Juan... you'll do well!

Hey Lewis, just wanted to let you know how much I admire your dedication to general aviation and your passion for instructing. I am a PPL in Northern Arizona and would be absolutely thrilled if you ever were to make a trip out this way to do some flying. The Grand Canyon is 40 minutes from my home airport - A20... It's a long way from you, but the views and the mountain flying experiences are spectacular! Anyway, keep that hilarious and informative content coming! Sincerely, Mike K.

Wouldn’t the vor method not work for diverting if the gps was inop?
@LewDixAviation4 жыл бұрын
The VOR is separate from the GPS. You wouldn’t get DME in this particular plane, but you could cross reference radials and work your distance out that way if needed
@georgia_dawgs_27464 жыл бұрын
LewDix Aviation I probably sound really dumb right now but how would you enter the frequency for the VOR if the GPS wasn’t working? I’m probably missing something obvious, thanks for the help!
@LewDixAviation4 жыл бұрын
You don’t sound dumb at all! You’re actually half correct. With this plane the GPS controls NAV1. So you would lose NAV 1 because you can’t set frequencies anymore. BUT, we have NAV 2 which is completely independent from the GPS

They cut off your view outside so you can only see the instrument. It's to try and simulate instrument conditions but it's really not even close to actual IMC. Plus, a lot of people cheat with the foggles and look outside anyway.
