How could anyone say anything negative about this.(?) He sounds killer! Vocally and his guitar skills are pretty excellent and very entertaining! Let haters be haters sadly, but that man is an Entertainer no doubt about it!
@ralphjurgen94566 жыл бұрын
It probably has more to do with the title of the video than anything. He is good as a 1 man band but he does not sound anything like Hendrix, not his vocals not his playing and not the guitar tone. When people see Hendrix there are some expectations, the guy is not even trying to sound like him, it's just the misleading title that's all.
@blackdog19-646 жыл бұрын
ralph jurgen If you don't think he sounds like Jimi Hendrix you might want to look at some other videos of his. it's not like he has a Marshall stack out in the middle of the street ha, he's making due with a small on the go amp! Which does put out some vintage flavor. I think he has a tremendous Talent and I would buy his albums if he were to put them out. His talent defends itself. I don't have to. To my ears he has Jimi flavor and a lot more.
@ralphjurgen94566 жыл бұрын
Mark B, I was not saying he is not a good player, I specifically said he is good. I am just answering your question about why there are negative comments. For most people it is a bit misleading. On this video he sounds more traditional blues, hendrix was a bit more psychedelic and has a distinct playing style with mixing rhythm and lead.It really sounds like he is not trying to copy or sound like hendrix. I saw the video that he plays purple haze, it was good. If that song was in this video there will be a lot less negative feedback. It was just a response to your question, I am not saying anything negative about him.

@@waynelynch3862 He's just doing it by heavy vox effects? Seems like a bit of a gimmick really. I love Lewis versions of Hendrix tracks he's put out a bunch of live recordings of a few. His version of Hey Jo is my favorite by a long way. Hendrix version never made me well up like Lewis's, maybe little wing a bit when I heard that first, Lewis's most recent version of Hey Jo gets me going every time I watch it though.
@waynelynch3862 Жыл бұрын
@@ericritchie6783 The Michael Winslow impression (above) blows me away. Better then any guitarist that I have heard, plus his voice is the closest to Jimi I have heard. It took me awhile to realize he was the same guy that did the imitations in Police Academy. He does Zeppelin also, but not as good. Lewis plays some good blues, but I don't hear the Hendrix connection.
@ericritchie6783 Жыл бұрын
@@waynelynch3862 Fair enough, Ah I see the police academy guy, right! Yeah Lewis does some Hendrix covers and sometimes dresses up like Hendrix because he looks good dressed the same and why not helps draw attention for street festivals and that sort of thing, which helps pay the bills. Nah I'd also say they are both distinctive players in their own right sure, personally Lewis is my favorite "guitar music" musician, his KZbin channel means more to me than any Hendrix album or Rolling Stones or anything else he covers because listening to his versions is always like hearing these iconic tracks for the first time, even though they've been very over played in pop culture over the decades. Something about what he's doing which kind of solidifies all the music in those eras with a musical spirit that goes beyond the big pop culture media it was all tied in with.
