I made that comment before the 2012 season began. He blew me away in 2012. He was in my honest opinion the best driver of the whole year. Ultra fast in both qualifying and race trim at every race save Spa due to a set up error and he didn't make a single (non twitter related) mistake all year. His wheel to wheel racing was inch perfect all year, it really should have been his championship. He was completely unrecognisable from the disaster zone Hamilton of 2011!

Lewis had early success but his fortunes turned after european grand prix where maldonado wrecked him. after that he had reliability problems and poor calls, poor pitstops, got run into a few times and from singapore on he lost about 75 points alone based off of reliability issues. A real shame, it would have been a great race in the end with 3 guys going for the title. Lewis was driving very well in 2012 mclaren simply screwed it up one too many times.

The problems started way before that, in Bahrain lol. A front-row start wasted through a twenty-second pitstop. Spain, fastest in Q3 but runs out of fuel on his outlap which sends him to the back of the grid. Whole season was a big L for McLaren and it's been that way since then lmfao

Singapore lost 32 points on Vettel effectively, Abu Dhabi lost 28 points to Vettel, Brazil lost 27 points to Vettel. That's what 87? + other smaller losses but Vettel had problems too so we will call that equal miss-fortunes. But yeah finished 78 points behind and would have 87 more with just those 3 races alone, Nuff said tbh.
