You have to understand that when Hamilton started in F1, he was in Ron´s Mclaren. A team so tight that drivers had to always be shaved, immaculate trim and well dressed and no tattoos and always say the right thing, never doubt, never question, etc etc. So Hamilton had to be that guy. Very very cool. I remember Autosport magazine doing the end of year summary for 2005 with a section about young drivers to look out for - they picked out Lewis as one to watch so I started keeping half an eye on his career. I’ll never forget his first F1 start for McLaren alongside Alonso in Albert Park - he qualified behind him but made a better start overtaking him into the first corner - a rookie beating the two time world champion and making it look like he had being doing it for years - I felt so proud and have had the privilege of watching virtually his whole F1 career - the highs and the lows and honestly I believe he is the best to ever do it.

I doubt he would do that today. He's really smart to not take risks in order to maximize points at every race. Although the way he rejoined in the GP2 race isn't as risky as it looks because the drivers immediately move to the right for the next corner so he rejoined off the racing line.
