I think that when the pool grows so must the value of the pool - if you put in 10k for 10 tokens (1000 per token) and your pool grown by 50% you get 1500 back per token - this way any gains will be compounded as the pool grows.

Only the highlights were explained in this video. The lowlights also exist. There is an opportunity for both impermanent loss and actual permanent loss. Ripple’s CTO (the AMMs biggest cheerleader) controls the AMM funding curve algorithm. Never forget the “let it breathe” bot manipulation. They cannot help themselves, Ripple will manipulate the algorithm to their advantage.

There are many great reasons to put your XRP in a LP, you can only site one possible negative, there really isn’t any impermanent loss, no more than just holding XRP in a wallet, there is only the possibility of having reduced gains, but that’s not a loss as defined as the word “loss” it’s deduced earning, and ONLY IN THE CASE OF A VERY FAST AND DRAMATIC PRICE INCREASE, and even if this happens it’s only consummated and realized if you sell at those same highs

Does this mean if you became a LP at the top of a bull cycle and staked for example 1000 xrp at $10 ($10000) on one side and $10000 on the other, that even at the bottom of a bear market you can still sell your LP's at a $20000 equivalent as well as earning a yield in the meantime? They do return the same product of the two assets, but not necessarily the same value! For example: You put in 10XRP and 5 USD: Product is 50. You could get a return of 5 XRP and 10 USD. Well you shouldn’t. You want your 10,000 XRP if the price was the same or if it increased. But it’s possible (even likely) that the price of XRP would drop. In which case it would be better to retrieve say, 7,000 XRP and the remaining initial value of your investment in something that can be exchanged for MORE XRP at the now reduced price, so you’d end up with MORE than 10,000 XRP (even though the value would be the same). (It would be nice if that was automated.)

Also if the price of XRP goes up does that add to the volume of your yield percentage? Hey Lewis thanks for this. Can you help me understand something about AMMs that many may be overlooking? 1) I think the issue with the impermanent loss will be mitigated by the algorithms discussed by David Schwartz which all but guarantee you can pull out at least the product value with which you entered the LP. What happens if the price of XRP rises relative to the LP token? I think that translates to any XRP put into the AMM as losing out on those gains. So if you enter the pool when XRP is at $1 and it rises, say to $5 and the LP token does not rise with it, that would be a losing proposition for the participant. I'm not sure how the value of the LP token will be determined and if it will rise and fall along with XRP (or go counter to it) 2) Participating in AMMs will constitute a tax event from what I understand. If I bought say 1,000 XRP at .25 ($250) and I enter the pool when XRP is $1, that swap into the LP token would be treated as a capital gain of ($750 - $250 = $500) so we would be subject to paying the CGT for the $500 difference. Exiting the pool as well would trigger a tax event (swapping the LP token back into the XRP/Asset X pairing. So these 2 points need to be part of the decision to participate in AMMs. Please share your knowledge. Thanks

Don’t put it all in because you could end up with more fiat value, but less XRP number of coins if the price shoots up. You make money on the value you put in, not the amount of XRP’s🇬🇧👊🏼 I think, just be careful. I make interest on my SGB from LP’s but as the coin value goes up, my number of SGB goes down so that the value of my initial investment stays the same. You are asking the right question, unfortunately all the information I have seen on YT shows a fundamental misunderstanding of impermanent loss, (including Lewis). Using your example from above, if you provide a total value of $10 to an LP as follows: 10XRP @ $0.50 + $5 USD, you would have a constant K (product) of 50 The AMM guarantees that this K value of 50 will never go down ( this is what David Schwartz's tweets were saying if you read them carefully) Lets say XRP goes to $10 the hour after you put your funds into the AMM. Your K of 50 would NOT go down, BUT it would now be comprised of (approx) 2.236 XRP and $22.36 USD. (these still multiply out to a product of 50) This would give you a total value of $44.72, which looks great given that you started by putting in $10 total value The opportunity cost (impermanent loss) is created because, as you correctly identify in your question, if you had simply HODLed your 10 XRP & $5 USD, you would now have $105 instead of $44.72. THAT is impermanent loss and it is driving me to frustration that not one of the major XRP influencers has actually figured it out and they are all telling everyone that impermanent loss is not an issue. Anyway, hope that helps.

One thing you should mention is the formula you mentioned that helps protect impermanent loss works against you for impermanent gain (so if you invest 20 xrp and 10 dollars.. and price of xrp goes down and you get back 10 xrp but 15 dollars thats in your favor.... but if the price of xrp goes up your going to get reduced dollars to balance the "seesaw" so you may get 20 xrp back but only 5 dollars back at still a "zero loss" because xrp went up but you actually missed out on $5, however you'll still gain LPT) But i think it's important to note while amm reduces risk of loss, it also reduces "risk" of gains.

If yields are that high, then more people will contribute to the LP, making each person's cut a smaller % of the pool's rewards. So, then the market will eventually decide what is a respectable ROI to receive for being required to maintain half their holding in a stablecoin, as opposed to holding all XRP. Granted that latter point is bullish for the ROI being higher in the LP, but I just dont see it making people the returns you are listing. Sorry. Just my opinion. Hope i am wrong. But whales would be all over those size returns.

By your calculation that would mean that even when I have 200.000$ to spent - I should spread them only on small scale pools since they have the highest return. Is it like that or is the ratio of traded volume to fee actually better on higher scale LPs?

Did you say , if the price of xrp goes down, you don't lose value and if you exit the pool you'll get back what you initially put in & the fees you accumulated...? So it's no impermanent lost? You kinda said it fast at the end of the video...
