Max Krampe Except they didn't. It was always supposed to be Justice League that brings light and hope in the DCEU, other than Wonder Woman. It was Zack Snyder's plan. He said it multiple times. @1995krampe7 жыл бұрын

@runnerhigh7 жыл бұрын
What in the shit are you talking about? Take the Joker for example, when he was Jack, before he turned into Joker, he was different right? We can agree on that? But something happened to him and he changed. He became Joker. Now Lex Luthor. He starts as a rich guy who hates the concept of God, meaning he hates Superman. He never had a real challenge in his adult life before that. He is overconfident, he think he's in control but he's not. And he ended up in Arkham Asylum. Now, what do you think is gonna happen? He will change. Prison changes people so fucking Arkham? Even worse. When he'll be out, he'll be someone who learned from his mistakes, someone colder, someone who will have more experience and someone who will do anything to get the job done. He will be *the* Lex Luthor. You gotta know that Lex originally started as a goofy ass balding ginger fuck. He never always was the cool and collected bald man we all know. He started somewhere too. That's what they did in this film. He is Lex Luthor, just a younger version of him. And Jesse Eisenberg did a great job. Maybe you should read the sentence again because it made perfect sense and is in no way a contradiction to anything. Hell, part of Batman v Superman was basically an origin story for Lex.

Marvel turned Thor into a comedian in Ragnarok and people say it's the best Thor movie. I mean, it was, but at least be consistent with your complaints lmao
@cryofpaine4 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest differences is that Marvel's characters aren't well known outside of the MCU. Whereas DC's characters are some of the most iconic characters in the world. Other than the comics, where else have we seen the MCU characters (prior to the MCU)? Nowhere. Iron Man had a cartoon series for a while in the 90s, but it was never as big as X-Men or Spider-Man. And Cap had something back in the 70s I think it was? That's it. Superman and Batman have collectively had 11 feature films, at least 14 series (that I could think of), multiple video games and direct-to-video animated movies, spanning 8 decades. Even if you've never even seen a comic book, you know these characters. If you want to plumb the depths of comic history for obscure tidbits to throw in for fans, great. But if you're going to make your character based on a version that hasn't been around since your grandparents were kids, don't expect people to be happy about it. Lex having hair wasn't the problem. Lex being flamboyantly goofy was. The biggest problem though is that he wasn't making a DC film. He was remaking Watchmen (one of the few comics that he actually knows & likes). That's why Batman was so violent - he was Rorschach. Superman was brooding and disconnected because he was Dr. Manhattan. And Lex was flamboyant because he was Ozymandias.

@VioletGrey7 жыл бұрын
If I had to guess why they took the line out it would be to continue the idea of Lex abd Bruce being very similar during he film but each taking a different road. Each of them has clearly let their issues concerning Superman take them to far but where as Batman is basically a good person and is able to recognize this before he has stepped across the line, Lex's narcissism cannot allow him make this observation of himself ("I don't know how to lose"). He is so hellbent on proving that his view of the world is true that he has become willing to do anything, even unleashing a monster like, "DoomsDay", to make that happen.

Michael Schinke which is stupid because lex isn't that insane. He always has a back up plan. Also whats the point if killing super,am if everyone dies. Lex wants everyone to love him and see him as the hero.
@VioletGrey7 жыл бұрын
Firstly; that all depends on your definition of insanity Secondly; older versions of the character, pre 1986, were portrayed as your typical, "mad scientist" characteras the video points out. Thirdly; it sounds like you are taking an interpretation of Lex that comes from a source other than the movie and using it to inform your view of the character in the movie. I don't think this is wise as you will not be able to resolve the two versions. The version of the character in the movie is a unique amalgam of severl different versions of the character used to create it's own version. This character is built from the Lex Luthor archetype but does not follow the rules that govern other versions of the character. Al that is just a way to say; movie Lex is not comic book Lex. You can't measure them using the same ruler.

Even if the character does not change to resemble other portrayals of the character; why does that matter? The only criteria that should be used to examine the character is, "Does that character serve a purpose in this story? Does the character feel as if it comes from the world of this story? Is the portrayal of the character consistent with the world and does it compliment the other actors work?" As long as the character continues to fulfill that criteria then nothing else should matter.

No versions of Lex Luthor is mature. He is always unreasonable and psycopathic. Idk how people get cool and calm from him. Its just an act
@VioletGrey7 жыл бұрын
If by mature they mean older then yes, this is typical. But you are correct; Lex is a narcissist and a sociopath and has been since the 1986 reboot. His cool detachment is a function of his pathology he believes himself to be above any other human on the planet. However like all narcissists Lex is quick to blow should he be challenged as his ego will not allow that kind of affront. What people remember or see is, at times, only what they choose to. In this case people want to cling to the facade of the character instead of embracing the fact that he was always not just a little, but all the way insane. Just because you're a genius doesn't mean you can't be nuts.

Also lex Luthor had just given us an indication about what he did. He rung the bell. He’s psychotic. It’s who he is. He’s taken from the comics but you ARE just to much of an mcufan to admit it. You probably haven’t even watched BVS. And that performance 100% deserves an Oscar.

So loved Diana's reaction to Lex's story about the Gods and how the Titan; Prometheus was punished by Zeus. Her reaction in feeling insulted was too understated in the film. Cos Lex is taking liberties with the events in mythology and insulting her father at the same time. Wonder if she'll finally confront him in Justice League and slap the crap out of him remembering the event night from BvS here, lol.

thats not what I was saying. Lex knows she is some sort of Meta-human as she is over 100 years old at least (actually a lot older than that). The question is does he know that she is the daughter of Zeus or not? If he has just that image of her and some video footage of her it seems unlikely he knows anything else about Diana

Having been a long time fan of the Birthright comics, I always thought Jesse Eisenberg would nail the role since the announcement. And, in many ways, f*** yes, he definitely did! However, I wish the script could have been polished a bit more. I feel like production interference just keeps getting in the way of Zack Snyder's vision. Personally, I don't even think the Ultimate Edition has all the story/plot points from what was initially planned by Snyder.

@I-speak-U-shut-it4 жыл бұрын
I don't blame the script. The script was fine. It's Eisenberg. Jesse Eisenberg as LEX LUTHOR! Cast anybody in the role of Lex Luthor and they would've made the movie alot better than what he did. Playing as this Joker/Riddler wannabe. You see in a superhero movie. When a superhero gets it's 1st movie. The hit & success of that movie boils down to how the main character is protrayed and respected by the fanbase: the superhero. And when that superhero gets a sequel. That movie's success henges often with the villain. And casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex is the how and the reason this movie flopped!!!
@crisp38914 жыл бұрын
@@I-speak-U-shut-it I didn't "flop". It underperformed for sure as they were hoping to make a billion dollars, but it still made 830 million dollars!

This thing that made bvs a bad movie, was because they forgot what was the original idea of LEX in the comic. Lex was created before the soical media world, and was just a business man. Trying to invent lex in modern day, is like trying to make 70's outfit in 2000. The idea don't fit , and it then destroy the original concept of the character creation.
@crisp38914 жыл бұрын
That's a very simple minded point of view!
@I-speak-U-shut-it4 жыл бұрын
And that was where WB & Zack Snyder failed: Casting Eisenberg & turning him into Tony Stark. And you're right. Lex was only a businessman. Hell. You can watch Michael Rosenbum in Smallville and tell the difference.
