I wasn't expecting this from Lexar, but it's a great NVME drive and dirt cheap as well 😂

I have one of these in a brand new Legion Slim 7, alongside a Samsung 990 PRO. This Lexar is faster than even the 990 on sequentials. The 990 is a bit quicker on randoms. But I'm more than happy witht the performance of the Lexar as my Data Drive. The only thing I've noticed is that it stays about 10c warmer than the 990 at all times. Lexar has been around a LOOOng time. And have been making memory as long as I can remember. I'm sure it will remain a good product. Between it, and the Fanxiang s880 unbeatable for the $$$.

This is a shocker from Lexar. Impressive speeds of that drive. Yeah, I could also agree with using it as a data drive for storage or video editing. Good show, Vlad.

Been looking for a secondary NVME drive for my games. My 2nd M.2 slot isn't as fast as the primary M.2 which is fine. I consider Lexar reputable as well. I found 2TB for $89 😮 Great summary and video. Please provide an Amazon link or something for us American buyers. I never bought anything from a Germany website and not sure how the process would be or if I really wanna go through the process. 🤣New subscriber here.

It's refreshing to see a new player in the NVME space 🙂 How's the performance when the drive is near-full?
@LevelUPGamingTech
@LevelUPGamingTech 8 ай бұрын
Never filled it up all the way, but all the tests I ran, total read and write is around 360 TB 😂 Almost all the drives use 1/3 of the capacity as a cache, if you fill it up beyond that point it will start to drop performance and drop to the TLC speeds, around 2500 MB/s

Great video man. Just wanna ask that is there any difference in specs between heatsink and no heatsink version?
@LevelUPGamingTech

Nope it's the same drive, since every board nowadays comes with a heatsink you can save a few bucks and get one without 👌

I got Lexar 790 2Tb , Lexar 610 Pro 2Tb. Using them in external Thunderbolt/USB4 enclosures. Both are low cost and 790 performs much better in writing large amounts of data. 790 Throttles to around 100MBs while 610 pro throttles to 50MBs. Read speeds are fast as advertised.

I bought this because I saw your video but I want it as my backup for Mac. Which enclosure do you recommend for the Heatsink version? Here in Japan, I couldn't find the standard version without heatsink on the 4Tb configuration.

Sabrent NVME Enclosure is great, you can take of the heatsink from the drive that is not an issue, since it fits in the Sabrent enclosure without the heatsink and the enclosure itself is the heatsink then. Plus it pairs nicely with Apple products 😀
@DaveDFX
@DaveDFX 5 ай бұрын
I'm using a few enclosures. I have the 2TB . You don't need the heatsink version for enclosures. They have built in heat sink or aluminum enclosure. I got Acasis, Orico and Jeyi Thunderbolt/USB4 Enclosures. 40GBs.

Hello. Is it possible to remove the heatsink easily? And after that - it looks like the version sold without heatsink - I mean with grey/black sticker, and disc is exactly the same as radiator-free version? Thanks Maciej

Thanks @@LevelUPGamingTech - thank you for reply. I just found a promo, in which this disc is with heatsink, but my laptop does not have space for it, so I have to remove it. Do you think such removal can cause any issue with possible guarantee void? And what about thermal pads - are they applied on the disc under the heatsink and I will have to remove them as well? Thank in adbance Maciej

Any recommendations for an 500 gb ssd for just Operating System ? i think 1tb or 2 tb for just like 40-50 gb of os its pointless and stupid, and i dont want to partition an ssd ... so looking for the best 250 -500 gb ssd I currently have WD_BLACK 500GB SN750 SE NVMe + a radiator, but its been hot since day 1

Do not forget that the drive uses the hosts memory for cache since it has no dram. This might be a problem in external enclosures. Also I do not know how it behaves in the PS5.
@LevelUPGamingTech
@LevelUPGamingTech 7 ай бұрын
Yeah I mentioned that it's DRAMless, and also was surprised how good it performs being without it 😀 Regarding PS5 it should be more than OK, I used even slower NVMe drives in the PS5 and it has no issues, as long as it can do 5500 write it's all ok, but as I said even slower ones will work.
