There has been a lot of talk about institutional involvement and consequent accompanying regulations. But I find it hard to see how governments would legitimize decentralized crypto with oversight and laws given the national security issues that would be raised. Mining of crypto can happen even in adversarial states. Given the unknown edge cases of risks, would any government risk their national security on such a decentralized platform?
@jadepenn74073 жыл бұрын
Hi C, there are a few hidden premises involved before we get to your conclusion: 1. There is more than talk of institutional involvement 2. There are already many accompanying regulations 3. Given 1 & 2 it can be argued that some governments have legitimized crypto. Powell, Reserve Bank Chair (for instance) just this week said "bitcoin is digital gold". 4. Mining of BTC is not the power centre of BTC. Its more distributed that than. See previous block wars. I really like your last comment about edge cases and national security though. To be honest, no. Or at least, not yet. OR perhaps, not desperate enough. The main point is that Reserve Banks do NOT need to get involved for this to be a success.

Speculation within financial markets has been high jacked by logic processing systems that are making projections that humans have a very difficult time doing on their own. AI and computer algorithms help eliminate human error in an endless variety of ways, but has a poor time analyzing emotions. Crypto traders use emotions to their benefit, since it helps soften the accuracy of logic processing systems. Trading and speculating on emotions is essentially the only way to compete with logic processing systems, and those with a high level of logic themselves have a hard time understanding the tactics of emotionally based trading. Asset classes of past have been manipulated to a large degree. It is kind of funny watching the Ivy league bred squirm as they have to come to terms that emotionally incapable AI will create areas of speculation to be completely unaccounted for. Nobody ever finishes a game of Monopoly to completion once the winner is revealed. Good luck dealing with the overly emotional poor people staring at the winners, telling them "they better lock their safes." AI isn't gonna help you in the cryptoverse.

The truth is no currency has intrinsic value. Every currency only has value because we agree to use it and trust in it. That's it. You can also turn it around one day and say the dollar only has the because we attribute a btc value to it. Bitcoin has value because people agree to use it. This value is sustained because of the trust in the protocols of it. You can buy a Tesla with it, meaning a real tangible thing.

@@eddiewiggles9398 Well they can not be literally worthless since they can be literally converted into dollars ;) Like I said, just like the OP, you seem to not take into account that all currency is inherently worthless but gains value merely by us agreeing to use it. What is the value of a dollar? The value is only generated because someone else agrees to accept it as a means of payment and give you goods/services in return. This is backed by the government which generates trust. If you don't trust the government, you can choose to trust math and decentralized encryption protocols instead. BTC has started out as an asset and is moving more and more into the space of a currency which it already definantly is. You should contemplate the concept of value. Once it was sea shells, beads or salt. Then it was dollars/euros/yen etc. Soon it will be BTC/ETH/ADA.
