The folks at Lexin asked me to review their new motorcycle helmet communicator, the LX-MTX, and see how it stacked up with the best in the business, for a much lower price.

This comment has zero to do with the Lexin nor with this great KZbin channel. Just found the name of our game in the title of the video! So, thanks for the promotion 😉

I just looked at packtalk edge and lexin MTX, the lexin states it uses voice command. I was really torn, but I really do not need the 15 person connectivity with other riders. It's mostly for me and the back passenger. I'm hoping its not a regret...

The Cardo edge magnetic mount is brilliant and worth a lot to me. I swap the device between helmets.

Another great review. I love the level of detail. I looked at their website but didn’t see an owner’s manual for the G-16. Any idea what the range is? I have the Sena 20S which is embedded into the Shoei Neotec 2 helmet. Fantastic integration but the Sena software has always been a little flaky. For example: if a call comes in while listening to music, the music volume level drops way off and doesn’t return after the call (even though I disabled this feature in the app). Then, I can’t adjust the volume again unless I slow to less than 40 or so MPH. I usually pull over and it comes right up. This is so weird but very repeatable. My Sena 50S did the same thing.

Check it out on Amazon. They have not added it to their website, yet. They say the range is 1.2 miles. They tell me you can get support through Amazon.

You mentioned you have to push a button to initialize intercom function, is there a time out on that? For example, if I pushed the intercom button at the beginning of our ride, could I continue to talk back and forth to the other writer without pushing the button for a couple hours, as long as we didn’t use any other music/GPS/features?

I did not test for duration, but it is my understanding that it would remain open until turned off. You can contact the manufacturer to double check.

Hey Craig a couple of questions for you more on the Pack Talk. I dont use the speakers because I have ear plugs and find that if I have the ear plugs in I can't hear very well so I have a pair of Elgin ear buds that plug into the Cardo unit, can I use Bluetooth to a wireless pair of ear buds but still be in Mesh mode and talk to another person? I really like the mesh mode as it usually works extremely well but my battery is just not lasting very long now. Had the Pack Talk Duo for about 6 years now. My wife says I should just buy the new one with the magnet, LOL. I am a wee bit Thrifty, I mean it does still work!

Unfortunately the Cardo units are set up so that the sound comes through the speakers. They will not broadcast to wireless earbuds...at least from what I know.

This might compare more favorably with my Sena 20S which also requires button-pushing and doesn't have great speaker quality. I tossed the Sena speakers and put in some JBLs. The Sena mounts solidly against my Neotec 2 helmet. The Sena comes with different types of mics for making phone calls and for intercom use. How is the Lexin set up for that?
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 7 ай бұрын
It comes with the two standard mics, boom and fixed. The unit pairs very easily to my phone and sound quality is good.

I have the edge duo pack and love them, I seen that you paired the Lexin and edge in Bluetooth mode, do they connect and work together in mesh mode.
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 5 ай бұрын
No, the mesh is proprietary for each. The Edge does have a bridge that allows a Bluetooth device to be joined in a mesh group, but I did not try that.

What exacly does Mesh 3.0 ? Is it now open mesh for every brand? Or does it only work with Lexin? If it does work with other brands, did they need Mesh 3.0 aswell? I have a EJEAS K1 that supports Mesh 3.0. That would be good to know... And: Does the mount from Lexin LX-MTX work with Lexin B4FM ?
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 2 ай бұрын
Don't know about the mount. Mesh is a protocol. Each manufacturer implements the protocol differently, so they don't work with each other. Many of the makers are now cooperating on standard Bluetooth integration and thus will connect to each other via BT.

Hello, i have question to ask you how to connect bluetooth intercom between 2 Lexin MTX. :D
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 4 ай бұрын
Your third device would need to support universal Bluetooth. Both Lexin and the newer Cardo units support this. Put all devices in Bluetooth mode, not Mesh mode, and follow the device instructions.

i own the FX10c, and a few frends too, we do not recommend it, the mesh is a hit and miss most of the times. when it works is great, 1 button press and everyone is connected. but the signal is quite bad, on city riding you can barely hear other riders, it kinda lower the volume of the mics on its own its frustating. and other times one of the riders can hear everyone but no one else can hear him. im curious if this lexin has the same mesh system since the fx10c also has 10 channels

i would actually test the battery life. The Chinese are notorious for exaggerating claims about their products. Channels like Project Farm has tested Chinese batteries against those from Japan and Korea and the different is staggering. Chinese batteries seldom meet even 50% of their claims.

One of the biggest issues with units like Lexin is that they invariably have copied/stolen designs and IP from the market leaders. That Lexin looks almost like a carbon copy of my Packtalk Bold units. Sure, the Cardo units cost more, but then companies that actually do R&D have to amortize that. Stealing stuff is a lot cheaper than actually engineering stuff. If most people buy Lexin, companies like Cardo and Sena will no longer be able to afford R&D and we will get fewer new capabilities like Mesh communication and voice activation. You won’t get that from Chinese companies who have nobody to steal from. For this reason alone, I refuse to buy Chinese knock-off products and encourage others to think twice before doing so.

From what I can find, Cardo units are assembled in Ukraine, but the electronic components and batteries are, like most everything else made made in China. Senas, depending on the model are made in China or South Korea.
