Nice comparison of the two bikes. I was comparing the two but went for the Yamaha (low miles pre-owned) as although arguably less of a machine it has a significantly higher resale value then the Lexmoto equivalent. Although your products seem to be getting better and better going by this channel, they seem by most to be seen as consumables with a comparatively short service life.

Big supporter of Lexmoto. Innovative and willing to learn. I'm in my 50s, have full license, but like 125s and have had 2 new Lexmoto and 2 new UM in 4 years. Varying quality on electrics and response is dependent on the dealer (particularly UM). Against lower end Yamaha YS though, , I agree I'd choose ZSXR for value and take a chance there would be few issues. Unfortunately in the end , unresolved issues and lack of response resulted in my buying MT125 (again new.) No comparison. From the fantastic showroom, to the brilliant build quality, with 15hp, ABS etc. To the instant dealer response to any query etc It's a different world. Once again, working in sales I admire what Lexmoto are doing, but a straightforward comparison, is never a straightforward comparison.

half the price double the bike. this is why I have a zsx-r hahahha. great vid. hopefully people see this before buying. my only issue to raise is like some of the cheaper parts. break pads on mine are squeaky etc, fuel pump went due to cheap design etc. obviously things to just improve. maybe worth spending a tad more on. especially the fuel pumps. cant compromise on those! other than that. perfect bike so far!

I'd still buy the Yamaha. If your needs change then at least you'll have a bike you can actually sell or px for a decent amount. Not saying the Lexmoto is a bad bike, I've not ridden one. It may well be really robust. Be interested to hear the servicing costs for the first two years, coupled with, what is very likely to be, eye-watering depreciation (don't blame me, check autotrader) after the warranty period. This bike is certainly cheap to buy. Time will tell if it's cheap to own. I don't think.it's helpful to say they were built in the same city. That's specious reasoning. There's a McDonald's in the same city as Claridges. One serves cheap food but the other is much less disgusting. Meaningless. It's about quality across the whole process. Yamaha don't have to convince the world of their reliability. Lexmoto, for now at least, have some work ahead of them.

Fantastic price for the money! As far as i can see it offers much more for the money! Although i must admit I hate linked braking! I find it more dangerius on the loose stuff with a tendency for the front to lock and down you go. For people who ride they know that some times you need the back brake to work independently on its own.
@lexmotomotorcycles
@lexmotomotorcycles 4 жыл бұрын
The linked braking is indeed something that has caused discussion. Ultimately the decision was made by Europe. The alternative would be ABS systems but the price difference is in the region of $200. One alternative would be to consider custom routing of the brake hoses to remove the rear brake link. Unfortunately as a manufacturer, we cannot have this as standard 😉
@user-wh2fd2yx2y
@user-wh2fd2yx2y 4 жыл бұрын
@@lexmotomotorcycles Yeah i get that and its not a criticism. I get its an EU law! Although I'm not a fan of abs either. I get it for bigger bikes, but abs and linked brakes on a 125 or 250 dual sport, or any bike that might be used on the rough or for green laning is in my experience more dangerous. Im sure if you ask anyone that use these bikes off road they would concur. Saying that I'm loving lexmoto and what you are trying to do! Lexmoto allows people to be able to afford to ride without worrying about costs! Its affordable and fun! Keeping the costs as low whilst trying to continually improve and some of these bikes are fantastic! Not only that, but allowing people to engage in the process is marketing genious😉. I think for me reliability is the way forward with the engines rather than getting ultimate HP. Saying that its always nice to have both!😁 Keep up the good work guys! 👊

i disagree, if you hit the loose stuff at speed your in trouble no matter what brakes you have
@Dwainpipe21
@Dwainpipe21 4 жыл бұрын
While you are correct that linked brakes can cause issues while riding off road when used in typical British winters or in an emergency situation on road they are much safer and not far off a good abs setup especially with new or inexperienced riders where they tend to not use the front brake hard enough and use to much rear and lock it up also if used on a scooter or maxi scoot you can just use the left lever for both brakes except in an emergency when you would use both leaving you right hand free for just the throttle which makes town riding in stop start traffic really easy going .

I've had the YS since November. Back then I was in this very predicament of buying a new bike with Lexmoto (Viper) or a used "Japenese" bike for the same price. After a couple months of consideration and asking a lot of questions on Facebook pages, at dealerships, and with friends and family I went for the YS. I've had no problems honestly, yes the exhaust is starting to corrode but I think that is expected with cheaper 125cc motorbikes, unfortunately. Also, I'm not a fan of the drum break, yes it provides adequate braking power but it is very outdated and I just don't feel like its necessary in 2020. I think the ZSX-R looks a lot better with the red wheels and upside-down forks but I think the biggest factor for me was the longevity of the motorcycle. With the YBR being as successful as it was installed a great deal of confidence in me to go for the YS. That being said, Lexmoto has fast become a big name in the 125cc market in the UK and as time goes on and potential customers get to see how these good looking machines hold up I think Lexmoto will edge it for sure.

You just dont need a rear disk brake on a 125 you cant be going fast enough for it to make a real difference. Drum brakes also work much better when its wet compared to a disk brake. It is dated tho.

While I'm not saying that your bikes are bad, I think the answer to your question of why is the yam more expensive is due to the higher quality control and build quality, as has been pointed out a lot of these yamaha bikes go on for many years especially the engine, and whilst as you point out a lot of these little bikes are produced in the same place in China, but I get the feeling that the big names put a much greater requirement for proper quality inspection and control which must meet their requirements before they put their names on those bikes. But I do feel that companies like lexmoto and a few other companies have raised the bar over the last few years on this front.

In China they have the ability to expand based on demand. I'm fortunate to have been to the Jianshe factory and was hoping to see something special. Unfortunately, I found it to be pretty underwhelming. They only things they had for QC was one section where they tested lights worked and another where they looked for scratches. There was a thick layer of dust on models that had failed QC which suggest they are either not investigating faults or they are ignoring them. Jianshe is a part government-owned venture that had links with the military but their recent financial records show that over two thirds of their income is now via making airconditioning units for cars. It's one of the reasons we moved away from the Aspire 125cc because the factory focus is not in the right place for a long term future.
