Not a huge live tell guy but the insta-jam on a river that drastically changes relative hand strength is a good bluff indicator. If villian had a made hand on the turn he would at least think about you getting there on the river with a big draw. If villian hit his own draw typically he would pause and consider sizing/double check cards.

Really rough spot with QT I think you have to call there. With such a wet board, sets should be raising more often than flat calling on the flop. You’ve shown 72 off, been playing a good amount of hands. Potentially opponent thinks he can take advantage and raise KJ then bomb river, raise such a wide variety and bomb river. I think it’s a true 50/50 spot where you’re good half the time and beat half the time so I don’t hate a fold. Hindsight is always 50/50.
@Dexerion
@Dexerion 2 жыл бұрын
Spot on. I'd leaned toward folding as you're only beating 1 pair or the random 5,6 maybe. He does have a TON of bluffs in his rage. As Lex said, that could have been a value bet at the end from the villain. He probably thought his kicker was good.

Sweating the hand with you Lex - I would have jammed the turn. Since that didn't happen, I think the perfect bluff card came for the villian (completes the flush and a straight). What hands does he likely have? I'm going to call, and hopefully rake the pot.

If villain was ahead he insta calls, if not he insta folds. I think calling turn and fold a river jam or call depending on live tells/ player tendencies is the best option. He might not be even jamming river and just check back his KQ or AQ and we win. Jamming turn only profitable if opponent was bluffing with a flush or straight draw and is now committing to getting it in w the worse hand.

Yo, Lex, love your vlogs. I don't really track win/loss though I guess I should. What is the best phone app to do that? My best month is maybe 5k, usually much less. I'm 70, live off social security and play poker to supplement that and while don't grind, I don't really consider myself a recreational player. The Q/10 hand, you bet he just calls pre-flop. You bet the flop and he just calls. If he has 5/4h or 5/5, or 4/4, with a straight and a flush draw on the board I would expect him to raise here to deny equity. Qs on turn doesn't complete anything but adds a backdoor straight draw. You bet 400 and he more or less min-raises to 850, with only 1200 behind. Did he min-raise to see where he was at planning to fold to a shove, maybe. There are a lot of cards you wouldn't want to see on the river which would put you in a tough spot. With the way the hand has played, I would have thought I had the best hand with Q/10 and put him all in to put him in a tough spot if he was still on a draw. Would he have called, maybe, would he have folded, maybe, either way you would have to think you had gotten the money in while you had the best hand before the river comes. Nothing else you could have done, even if he sucks out on the river. Any win is a good win when you are stuck that much at the end of a session. If I was up 41k in a year much less a month, I'd play only one or two days a week, just for fun and to make a little more money.

Hard to tell with the Q10. Unless there‘s always a possibility he‘s just top pair or total air with all the information u had about that player a fold is probably best. Still, feeling you with all the bad luck in the live stream. The reraise with the aces after the stream was too big.

No idea why no turn shove on the Q 10 hand. If you were in his shoes would you think you had a Q after your flop bet? Isn't it hugely likely he has Qx and why would you ever assume it's qxd and fold to a relatively small shove amount? I think you also have to analyze how you would have played this hand if you were up 5k on the night, I'm betting your answer to a pretty blatant leak is there.

For that q10 hand I think you have to jam on the turn. You only lose to pocket 4s or 5s. You beat everything else. Like you always say, can’t be afraid of monsters under the bed. Plus he only has $1200 back so if he has a set, you still have outs and it’s not going to affect you too much financially if you lose. If he has 12k back it could be a different mindset. Anyways appreciate your videos, keep up the great work.

In my first year playing professionally I travelled through the midwest playing in Kansas City, Thackerville (Winstar), and all the way across the south landing at Pacetti's Marina in St. Augustine with my dog and RV. This was 2011 and I was there the day that Best Bet in Jacksonville opened and I played there for around two months. That glass enclosed room is where we played 10/25 every night and it was not uncommon to have 3 5/10 games midweek. My last month I won $83,000.00! My mistake was that I thought that these games, this action, would always be there and so I went back to North Dakota, bought a 40' diesel pusher and a 65 fastback Shelby clone. The next year, on my way back, a pro in Louisiana told me the games were gone and I so regretted not staying there until the money dried up.

I think in the QT hand, I'm jamming the turn. Given that the button flat pre and flat on the flop, the (basically) min-clickback on the turn smells suspiciously like "I hit two pair and the board is getting scary". QT of clubs or diamonds are possible. 54s, or something wildly dumb like Q4s/Q5s, in addition to all sorts of flush draws and open-enders. If they turn over 44/55 here, nice hand. I can't call and then have to make a sick decision on any bad river card (A, K, diamond, any straightening card or board pair that's obviously not a Q or T).

Good Fold with Top Two imo. His Play was bad, would actually discount KQ and AQ, he should not Snap-Push the river with this hand, given the flush completes. This leaves him with Sets and Flushes. Without the 7d 100% Call. You would have to find Low Equity bluffs on the Turn in his range and with the tells you mentioned, he should not have enough to justify this Call. Turn Push seems possible, but again, tells and his playing style speak against that

We have a SPR of 1.6:1. => Push or fold. Lex characterized OFC as a somewhat wild player. Phil has a weaker range (most likely 88-JJ and a few suited aces (as he acually has)). So I lean slightly towards a push. In my opinion the stack to pot ratio is the decisive factor and not the BB we have left in our stack.

That's was definitely a call on the Q10 top 2 pair. Never he will put some value on turn for the flush, with his stack size. Maybe a set could be possible but you know what it's poker. One interesting note. In the QQ hand if you assume one of your opponents have AK and facing the 800 bet and call you pretty much have the direct odds to call flop. You need 9-1 which totals $7200. The pot was $7100. With the implied odds of making an extra $100 dollars if you hit your Q I actually think QQ is a square call facing this sizing and not a fold at all. Not often you get good enough pot odds to draw to a 2 outer but here you do.

I think you have to jam on the turn there, otherwise you’re setting yourself up for potentially folding the winner. You shouldn’t be folding to any card regardless on the river, when he only had 1k behind. What hands are you really going to be up against there? 55, 44, flush draw. As played, I'd have folded on the river since the diamond didn't slow him down. We've all made and continue to make these same mistakes, particularly when we're frustrated, whence we're never able to play anywhere near our best. Don't beat yourself up over it. If anything, the absolute best remedy for you would be to recognize when you are feeling frustrated and go for a walk and get yourself back into a state where you aren't feeling as frustrated. Obviously you were frustrated which lead you to make the mistake of just calling on the turn, but you definitely should be getting it all-in. If he's got a set, he's got a set, but these are crazy Texas games, and he doesn't look like a savvy player, so I would not be trying to think too deeply about it. Furthermore, you don't want to lose value when he has worse and will call off, but something like a diamond comes out on the river and kills the action... or the worst case scenario happens and you somehow fold the best hand! That said, his body language is indicative of strength on both the turn and river (his hands are folded together pointing upward, and he looks away a couple of times) - he thought he had the best hand! (Clearly, he's a clueless recreational player.) However, I'd demote body language tells when playing with absolute fish (don't try to get into the mind of somehow who doesn't know what the hell they are doing) and resort to plan A: "I have a strong hand, I'm all-in."

I would have a hard time to be honest and most of the time would call but not feel good about it because I'm not a great player. When the Q hit and he raised you, it appears he either had a set, bottom two or two pair with the Q or Qx w/ flush draw. All of the situations you lose except one. The right move is to fold against this player since you don't think he's got much bluffs. It would be a shocker if he is bluffing here. However the confusing part is to remember what his read on you is. He thinks you're a loosy goosy action player and that you're likly only betting the 10. He cannot read you for the Q. Because of that it's only 50/50 and every decision is equally good and equally bad.

I would've called him but took time to note his body language. Intent would be to build a profile on his style of play if I lost. He either had you crushed from the flop or you had him. I played with you at The Lodge for a bit. Recognized you after only 1 video but started watching more. Nice run man!

You are ignoring certain hands like 4 5, Q 5, Q4 remember 2 pairs have lower value then sets for a reason, they happen more. I agree that the diamond on the end is terrible because some kind of Qx of diamonds is a huge part of his bluffing range. But the way he insta jammed is a bit strange when you have the flush. Most people are thinking at least for a moment on how to play it. In any case you're at the zenith of your range you have to make the crying call - you only need to win around 27% of the time.

I got into 2 similar spots yesterday. I folded both times. One was a mistake, the other i never saw the river, but that player showed trip 9’s. I had the nut flush if a club hit, but I folded to his all in. It was only my 2nd time ever playing live poker and was playing scared money. Still, maybe it was the right decision.

He seems super comfortable. But he could feel that way with AA. He raised the turn then jams when the flush gets there. Seems like he would have bet the flush draw on the flop. I think I have to call it off here. Good luck bro.

I would have likely folded also, I did put him on a hand like that, I think his bet was a simi bluff, he probably put you on something like AQ or medium pocket pair since you were check calling he probably didn't put you on 2 pair and likely thought he was best, and he knew if you did have 2 pair somehow it would be a tough call.

I would re-raise and go all in on the turn for the Q10 hand. So if you are calling I think on the river you should fold because of the diamond(ıt looks combo draw). I don't know the result for now lets check it :)

Tbh I think I make that call because he snap jammed the river without really even looking to see if it was a diamond or not, almost like he’s jamming regardless. If he had a set on the flop then it’s just a cooler

When you called the raise on the turn with the q/10 you should've called prepared to call a jam on the river he was putting it in on the river nomatter what. the diamond on the river was basically a brick. a flush draw would've just called the 500 bet. But it easier said after the fact than in the moment. But usually a big bet call on the trun you're basically committed for the jam on the river with his smaller stack size.

I get why you come to Texas but a few months ago u basically said ya didn't like Texas you wanted to maybe head back to Florida and were killing it in Vegas... so other than making content can you tell me why play in Texas at all? And I'm not ball busting I'm a fan of the vlog and just trying to make sense of your decision to be back in Texas already

Man I know this is a super dumb reason, but if you got it you got it. I'd call with the top 2. I would definitely mull it over, but the diamond is such and obvious bluff card to have. I'd be more concerned if an Ace or 9 came off instead.

I thought he had A 10 with the diamond nut blocker and jammed as a bluff. Getting I believe 3.5 to 1 you gotta call there with top 2.

I see that an armed guard escorted you to your car. Are you concerned about someone following you and robbing you? I'm guessing that you have a lot of cash on you since you are on the road and don't appear to have a lock box there and are living out of a hotel room. Be careful out there my friend and check your rear-view mirror when leaving the casino lot.
