Love your videos Lex. As mostly a tournament player, your vlogs of cash games is pretty much the only ones I watch. Sometimes karma is the better play, so he bet out of turn, he is old, cut him slack. On the rare occasion that I do play cash, usually on vacation, I tend to play at the Hard Rock. I hope one day I will meet you. Best of luck to you. Run Good!!

Great content as always Lex! On the 86 hand no I thought it was AK or AA but that's why you can get paid. You also have to love the flop raise and turn bet that the villain is at a range disadvantage with Pocket 10's quite the overplay the Ace ended up being a bad card lol! Love the dogs and in honor of my frequent visits to the Aria here in Vegas gotta love Aria the dog! Take care!

I enjoy your commentary on the aspects of playing for living that many gloss over. Like the importance of living a normal life and having other interests beside poker. Having your income solely from playing cards is not as simple as just win more lose less. It is such a delicate balancing act that many people don't even realize. I'd like to see you talk more about the negatives so they can see a fuller picture. Can you talk about deciding when to quit? - knowing "when to walk away and when to run" so to speak. 1. How long should you be playing? - Do you clock in hours, wait to hit a set amount to leave? 2. How to book a loss gracefully? - Many players can't get up when they still have chips on the table/ money in their pockets. 3. And in bigger view, when would you know poker isn't meant for you? For some people it's an addiction and they don't realize it. Is there anyone you would suggest to give up or not to pursue playing poker for living. Thanks and sorry for an essay.

Vs the old guy who bet $150 out of turn, I think you did the right thing. It’s easy to say in hind sight you maybe lost some value, but you could of been beat there. But if the dude is rebuying every orbit and giving a lot of action, you can and will find better spots to crack him.

Hey Lex! With your KK hand, I actually like to continue betting the turn as well. You can definitely get value from a lot of holdings like club draws/ turned diamond draws / middle pairs that turned gutshots. When opp donks out to you on the river, you can definitely go either way with a check or raise. I think you can make an exploitative raise only if you think the opp overvalues his top pairs as he did.

Against a reg I would have raised to put him all in with the KK hand. I'm always watching the other player when I'm cutting out chips for a bet. You said he was an older rec player who played splashy and was losing, I would have checked. Others might consider that soft play but if you keep him in the game, you can win more on later hands. Any time you book a win, it is a good session.

The bet out of turn hand, I would just ship it, his out of turn bet doesn’t stand, he’ll have weird two pairs sometimes, but more of the time he’ll pay you with worse 1 pair hands. If you double him, good likelihood of him giving your chips back to you or at least back to the game anyway.
@IvanPerez-uj9xz2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lex, in that pocket KK hand when bet outta turn, since the outta turn bet was 150 and you have the deciding factor in this case, I wouldve done what you did since it’s a safe route or I’d communicate to the player and see if a compromise of a respectable bet can be initiated by you. Like for example there was a time I was heads up with a gentleman and we checked the turn together but before i acted on the river after rivering a full house he tabled his cards while also verbalizing “All In” and i never acted. I personally made a decision to let him recant the all in after getting the floor involved “more or less” only because he tabled the cards and knew for a fact i had the winning hand. I couldve easily not have said anything and doubled up at that time but i was willing to make a conscious decision to display etiquette and integrity and i made a small bet of 100 and we shook hands and by the end of that session i ran very hot. I like to think good players promote good poker.

I think I would do the same with the KK when he bet out of turn. And if you did bet this street after he acted out of turn, he could've folded his pair, so at least you got something on the river too. But yeah, when it's a confusing situation, it can throw you off for sure. Besides, like you said it's a senior folk who made an honest mistake, I wouldn't take advantage of him too.

I guess T9cc, solid 3 betting hand, flopped an open ender, just called turn hoping to realize, and bluff the ace since it's strong for your 3b range. 86hh surprised me genuinely. I would have thought that was 3rd or 4th place.

Man, 2nd time playing live last night and just ran super bad. I was there for 7 hours and the most premium hands I got were AKo x1, QQ x2 and all three were cracked (I made a good laydown with QQ vs a 5 bet who showed AA). I got one set. Bought in for $400, bled chips to $175 before I started to win some pots. Got back up to around $300 and started bleeding chips again. Here's my major mistake: I was extremely tired by this point but didn't want to leave stuck so I kept playing. Bled to $135 then turn jammed an open ended draw to try and push opponent off 1 or 2 pair. He wound up calling with 2 pair (9, 10, Q, 7 board I had A, J off) and I obviously missed so that was a punt. Instead of racking up $250 and leaving when I was tired I punted. Honestly, just super demoralizing. I was never up and it was just a war of attrition while being card dead. I couldn't sleep last night at all despite being dead tired. Maybe poker isn't for me? I don't know. Just venting. I don't think I will go back to play again despite my love for the game.
