I am just grateful that we get to see a true inside perspective of life as a poker player. The last 5 minutes weren't whining, it's going over a session which happened to be shitty this time. I just think it's a cool you're doing all this based off of starting at $1/2. That's a huge W in and of itself. wishing you all the run good bro

You deserve major credit for being honest and posting your big losses along with your big wins. A lot of poker vloggers gloss over their bad sessions, but you put your viewers right in the driver seat of what it's like to have a rough night. I really felt for you on that AK vs AA hand. Looking forward to the bounce back sessions. Good luck. 👍

Happens to the best man. Anyone of us that’s played professionally has experienced this scenario. You’re human man. It’s completely natural to feel that way. Showed significant resolve and strength to leave the game. Extremely hard to do so in that specific scenario. You will bounce back! Keep your head up man.

Most often when you win big it's because you have either coolered someone, have an opponent that vastly overvalues their hands or are taking advantage of calling stations. When you play against better players, #2 and #3 are much more rare. The stations are trappers, overvalues are actually bluffs and someone inevitably will have the deck running against them. Bottom line: if you're a poker pro that isn't a tournament pro, spend more time playing against splashy amateurs and less against livestream veterans.

It is amazing to listen to you be as vulnerable and raw and blood-letting open. That’s what keeps all of us coming back as we watch, listen and learn from you. Not only do we benefit from your insights as a professional poker player: your analysis of the game as played - which is thoughtful, based in sound theory and cogently articulated - moreover we profit from your deeply honest self-reflection and felt experience. These are the traits that draw us to you and are those that make you a “winner” in our hearts and minds and that IS what’s most important...the $$$ will inevitably come.

Hey Lex, I met you at TCH Austin a couple weeks ago, and that was cool, as I've been following you since near the beginning of your vlog. I think you're analysis is good, and you're playing stakes and games you can beat. I think you're under-rolled, and when the inevitable string of losses comes your way, it causes you to tilt and then your play does suffer [like the bad fold a week prior to this game] and then there's a downward spiral off your A-game. Of course, it's awesome you understand all this, and that is tough for people who are living it. This episode is truly epic for poker vlog watchers. I don't want to see AA winning big pots every hand like some other vloggers. I want to see the ups and downs of real poker life, AND THIS IS IT !! Give that sweet dog of yours, Rogue, a big kiss and nice walk. Cheers !!

I was told at a young age that no matter how bad you have it,there’s always someone else that has it worse than you do. I’m constantly aware of this concept as my nephew that lives with me is blind, has cerebral palsy and he’s autistic and he laughs and cuts up all day long. I’m not trying to downplay your losses and I know it’s extremely difficult to continue day to day with a clear mind and positive attitude after losing your money in these coolers. It’s truly gut wrenching to go through. We love your honesty and we love watching your videos. Things will get better soon for you and you’ll recover your losses. Stay positive and happy. Playing poker in Texas is hard! I’ve been practicing at the Dallas 1/2 game. It’s crazy because there are a lot of maniacs that have been running out on me lately. I ALWAYS come back to a few specific videos of yours were you discuss these downswings and how to handle it. As long as I keep playing sound poker the run-good will return, I know because you have proven it to us through this channel. So, Thank You for being so honest and sharing these down times, they are infinitely more valuable to us then always flopping the nuts because they teach us about the hardest part of the game, controlling our emotions and managing the variance. Even Brad O took a big loss recently, went back to 2/5 and made most of it back. It happens to everyone. I look forward you seeing you return to your winning ways soon. You are incredible, thanks for the inspiration and leadership.

Lex, thanks for posting this. I normally crush the 2/5 home game. Went to Vegas recently and lost $5K playing 2/5 with a bunch of coolers myself (ran QQ into KK, got QQ all-in preflop vs AK and flops A, flopped top two pair vs turned set, flush over flush, etc.), which had me doubting my game. I appreciate you keeping it real and showing all aspects of poker. Definitely relatable. Keep your head up, bro.

Hi, I read a few comments to see if my thoughts were already made and it appears not. My first thought was if you’re worried about bankroll was to drop down , or if it’s just your confidence you could do the same (as you mentioned) Other than that, take a little time out, play lower stakes online and play for fun, just until you get your tilt out of the way. But I’m pretty sure ranting to us, who watch your vlogs will help you out too. Yes, there are haters, but that’s their problem, the vast majority want to see you do well as it gives us hope too (as well as the truth) Do what you feel is right and you’ll be winning again. Like you said near the end , you’ve done it before so you’re good enough. Just don’t give up cause I’m only staying subscribed to the “nice” people, and you’re one of them 😊👍

Lex, keep your head up! Remember, you don’t always get to control what happens to you, but you always control how you react to and handle it. You walking away when you are down, handling the run bad with class, and baring your soul in this video to help others who have gone through this and other rough spots is admirable. It’s tough, I know. Two of my last three sessions players have turned or rivered quads on my top set. Poker DOES NOT care. It cares how you handle it, how you play the next hand. Thank you for the VLOG, have an awesome day!

So Brad put out a vlog a week or so ago where he lost 10k I think. Instead of letting the tilt get to him or getting down on himself, he took it in stride, took a break for a few days, then played softer games at lower stakes and didn’t film those. He got that 10k back a week or so later. This isn’t meant to come off as a harsh criticism or compare you to other vloggers or poker players because to be a successful poker playing vlogger you need to be authentic. However, I would take that into consideration going forward. Play soft games, don’t film, and just focus on the poker the next few sessions. You’ve made a name for yourself on this channel in less than a year. You’ve shown how skillful you are at poker. But I do believe you can make this next step in your career as far as how you handle the game mentally.

Hey man, been a big fan since your vlog started. I'm mostly a 5/10 player and have been on my fair share of downswings over the years. I'm fairly new to the game, only been playing and studying past 3-4 years now if that. I must say, I am a subscriber of yours because I admire your videos, your play, and how you explain and think at the table. You show real emotions too, so that is refreshing to see. Sometimes we go through a downswing for whatever periods of times. As long as you are playing at your current best (whatever level that is at the moment) and making the best decisions or EV decisions in those spots you're put in, then don't second guess yourself my guy. Just keep playing your game, adjust, and put work in. Can't print money all the time. Plus you're playing in Texas, no disrespect but that is a major difference from what I've seen how they play in Florida. Texas just is crazier which makes the game a Lil harder in my eyes. I've played in TX before and witnessed it. I'm actually going to Florida to play for the first time and hope I get some run good there at Either Hard Rock or Coconut Creek. I wish you some run good too bro. Sorry for this long ass book that I now just published under your video lol. Keep ya head up bro

I had trip Js, player hit gutshot str8 on turn. Guy rivered a flush to Crack my QQ with J4♧. I also got 3 outted by AJ after flopping top/top with A10 when J hit on river in poker league Saturday. One of my favorite vlogs Lex. Thank you for being so candid. We all underestimate variance until it punches us in the face. None of your plays were egregious. Keep your head up, you're still on pace to be a high stakes crusher.

You’re a solid player Lex. We all know that. These times hit us all. I was running like the sun this fall and then the last month has been like yours. I’m in a similar spot when it comes to the mental game. I’ve been here before and will get through it and so will you. Thanks for being so real with us.

People have vlog after vlog saying that Texas poker is incredible. Moved here 6 months ago, seems like most players are very competent compared to other places I’ve played. Sure some splash around but the insane wildness is overplayed. A couple years ago, when the card rooms first opened, sure, now though, not so much. So many pros in TX now.

Best one liner I’ve ever heard applies here…. It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and still get back up. You’re s good player lex, don’t let the bad get to you. Stand up, brush off, and knock them on they ass

Brother, i appreciate you showing your true self and the true nature of the up's and down's of poker. The mindset is EVERYTHING in this game. Every time i've been in your current position i'll take a few days off, drop stakes when i come back and just crush my way up in comfort. You got this, my dude! Oh and screw the haters being jerks in this!

Lex, I’ve never commented on a KZbin video, but here’s a first. First thing, I appreciate you for the videos you put out, it keep me sane moving away from a poker area. You’re a good enough player to know this will pass. If I can make one critique……. Bounce around from poker room to poker room is very tough, I’ve done it and feel how different each place plays. You’re bouncing from state to state, which I think is the biggest challenge. Be easy on yourself, and yes, doubt your reads, period. Keep up the great videos, Ririe, ID appreciates it a ton!! RC

Good video because you are honest about your results, and you explain your strategy in each hand. I don't know what kind of records you keep, but it's good to have detailed ones so you know that even through a losing streak, you are beating the games in the long run. Also consider the words of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus: "An undisturbed mind is the best sauce for affliction."

Lex, you're the best poker vlog on KZbin. I've heard other pros say that they don't make their money playing with their equals, they make money from rec players. There wasn't a bad player at that table so it's hard to get paid off when you're ahead to offset the coolers that come with the game. But, it makes your game better. Go fishing to make money and play here to bump your game.
