I played one session where I ran two pair vs a draw and paid off the river just to see the A 10 that I called my opponent holding. A little later I flipped a set of 3s from the small blind for a full house 3s and 8s. Turn was a 10 and I got a read on the opponent, checked and they showed me 8 10 suited for the over boat. One round later I flipped a set of 6s on a JJ6 board. Same opponent called. Turned a 6 for quads giving opponent Jack's full. Money in and J on the river. I called it a night. But I've also taken 10 9 for trips all in against J9 and rivered a ten. Relax you guys, people like Rampage can't exist without dozens of others gaining bad beat stories. How come nobody here seems to have even a single suck out story? Come on guys I bet there are are a few. Just don't remember those I suppose.

Hey Lex Yes, it's ALL about MINDSET!! 😉 It's pretty obvious that you know how to play poker. If you play bad or good that's simply mindset. ( I'm not talking about set ups and bad beats 😉) Everything else in life is also mindset. How you show up and how you treat and approach different scenarios. Quit smoking? Mindset Lose weight? Mindset Save money? Mindset BTW!! Nice to see Rogue. 😉

Good session Lex. I once heard Doyle talk about being stuck in a game. He said ask yourself "Would I stay in this game if I was winning?" If the answer is no, its time to pick up and live to fight another day. Nothing worse than being stuck in a bad game. If the game is good, you gotta stay and keep battling!

Keep fighting. This is what separates the men from the boys. However downswings of substantial financial loss require a break to regroup, and decompress. It will shake off the mind set that you are cemented in right now. Find different card houses. In fact the Peppermill up in Reno is starting to see the action it had pre-pandemic. That is due to an influx of California residents moving to the area in the last two years. The room is excellent, the manager runs a great room. All we are waiting for is the Run-it-Up tourney to start again. The last one was set to run the week that everything shut down in 2020 and no word of it ever starting up again has crossed my ears. There are great players, good action and games everyday of the week. They run a 1-2 level, a 3-5-10 level, and now a 10-20 level with winner straddles. We used to have big 20-40, and 5-10, 10-20 before the Pandemic started but things cooled off quite a bit. It is starting to get the action it had pre pandemic, and I know you hail from Florida, but next time you think of heading to the West Coast, make a stop at the Peppermill. You.wont regret it. Good luck going forward.

It's like when does that run bad end, I'm still on running bad, losing all my flips, most have been ahead on the turn, the river is a bitch. Sometimes I just want to quit

Just dont change the approach. Variance when running that high will make you question your analysis. Its slimmer than the 2% variance runouts bc your getting coolered by a slim range. More like getting smacked by a .02% 10 times in a row.

I actually like the bet size on the AK hand. I think if you bet $350 into $1350, then it could be a bluff inducing bet. So if he jammed river on a $350 bet I might call, however if he jams on the $650 bet you can confidently fold knowing you’re beat.

I think it’s just a fold against the straddle’s cold 4 bet with JJ. SB is such an underraised position, so you’re showing massive strength with your BB 3-bet with JJ. The cold 4 from the straddle is KK, AA so often that JJ is just a fold imo

@frankincredible2 жыл бұрын
Lex, you mentioned being angry at yourself when you chopped after running it twice, but would've scooped if you went one time... then later in your outro mentioned working on your mental game? You have to completely separate yourself from results-oriented thinking. Running it once vs running it 5x has a neutral expectation. The results don't matter at all, and of course you know that. So what's the use in being upset that you would've won more by running it once THIS TIME? I usually just go with whatever my opponent wants, with the exception being when I think losing a big pot will negatively affect their game more than losing a big pot would affect mine. Then I'll decide to spin up the variance and go once, hoping I win and send my opponent on tilt.

The first hand where you flopped a flush, you should have bet the turn. It was the last chance you had for him to not believe your flush and prevented giving him a free card which worst case would have boated him. Point is it was your last safe chance to make any money from him since he can't call the river with any flush that he couldn't call a turn bet.
