I happen to own a 2015 GS350 AWD. I've owned 3 Porsches in my lifetime so I can do my own comparison. My first car, a '72 Corvette convertible, was my measuring stick for many years in identifying a great car. Well, I wouldn't trade my 350 for anything. This beast kicks ass and takes names and addresses. I'm in my mid-60's so not the lead foot I was when I was younger, but I still regularly wind it out. Lexus nailed it in 2015. No wonder my local Lexus dealer is constantly trying to buy it from me. No sale. :)

Bought a 2013 GS350 AWD that’s pearl white with peanut butter color interior with 55.9K miles about 3 months ago for $21.8K. Such a great car for the money, it can do it all. Only complaint from me is those stupid turn signals sometimes lol you know a car is great when that’s all you can complain about. The infotainment isn’t an issue at all for me, my phone connects automatically and I just play music through Bluetooth and never even touch the little mouse pad thing. So I don’t know why everyone hates it so much when there’s physical buttons for music, climate controls, heated and cooled seats, absolutely no reason to use the screen anyway while driving. And I have a phone mount if I ever need to use my maps or I could always install an Apple CarPlay kit if I ever wanted to. Car looks prestigious, will be the best aging GS due to the headlights having everything on them in one piece and a very subtle spindle grille that looks good to everyone. Car makes great power and sounds great. Ride quality is excellent, soaks up these terrible pothole infested roads in the Midwest really well and since mine is AWD it should be great in the snow. Mine also has double pane glass because of the cold weather package it has. My car has the base sound system and it’s actually amazing and sounds better than a lot of premium systems in other cars.

My biggest issue with the GS when purchasing new (my family bought a 2017 GS350 AWD Premium in this color) is that it doesn’t feel very unique for the money. At a $58k sticker, the GS just isn’t special enough. I think Lexus has solved that problem now (my god the new ES is gorgeous), but the GS interior just felt dated. The funny thing about the GS is I feel it’s probably the best driving “normal” car in the class. Compared to all the other V6 base models I really feel the Lexus has the most performance character. It’s so balanced and playful, but comfortable. I absolutely adored the way it drove!

The problem is you guys bought a 2017. This is what I was talking about in this review and the other 2 GS350 reviews I did. The 2016-2020 GS just feels like a RWD Camry, regulations ruined it. The 2013-2015 GS is the far superior GS and the only years I would consider buying

Lexus anytime for sure! I love Porsche cars too but there is something so unique with Lexus that it grows in you and you truly appreciate the details and small things that makes the car a better daily car to me. As you said so often, everything works in a Lexus and they designed this car to last for ever. I intend to keep mine for a long time. It ticks all the boxes. Last year, I had a new Range Rover hybrid from hire car for a few days and as much as I was excited to get in it and drive it, I quickly realise how much better my Lexus is in terms of comfort and the way the car delivers the power as very progressive and gradual, which makes it so much more comfy, whereas the Range Rover seats were too hard (it was sport model) and the power delivery was a bit too brutal or too unnatural or too keen for my liking, that it made me want my car back more than ever. I know already that I am going to have a difficult time replacing my Lexus with another car one day, as it will have to be better than my daily car... but for now having just driven over 50,000 miles, I can say that I am looking forward to doing another 50,000!! That is how good the car is... Usually, I would be already thinking of changing my car after 2 years driving it... So I clearly understand why Lexus drivers are keeping their cars for much longer! Great review!

The sound system in the base GS is pretty good. It’s a 12 speaker 5.1 setup from Pioneer with around 300 watts. It’s 4 6.5” door woofers, 4 1” soft dome tweeters, a 3” dash speaker, two 3” rear surrounds, and a ~10” sub. It plays loud and strong distortion free all the way to about 50/63 but it’s not really “special” in any other way. Everything is good, but not great, a 6/10 on scales. The Bose in the Panamera is identical to the setup in my cayenne and is way better than i expected for the Bose brand. I’m not a big Bose fan tbh, but I’m actually really satisfied with the cayenne/Panamera setup. 15 speakers (I think). 585W with 4 1” soft dome tweeters, 2 8” subs (front door), 2 6.5’s (rear door), 5 3” mids, and a 8” subwoofer in the spare tire / trunk area. The sub in the back get its own 200W amp and the doors get 80W to each sub. The bass is pretty crazy for a stock setup, especially over USB.

I've owned both these cars and I agree with just about all of your comments including your remark about the Panamera's Bose audio (IMHO hands down the best non-aftermarket audio system of any car I've ever experienced) vs the GS350's standard non-ML audio (very good but not absolutely fantastic). I traded out of the 2012 Porsche because I got cold feet about the potential for expensive future repair costs when the park assist system failed but I will admit I miss the cachet of driving around in a Porsche - that car really did turn heads. Now I drive a 2013 GS350 and it's a great car - AND WORRY FREE. My criticism of the Lexus is that I do miss that exceptional Bose audio of the Panamera and the external styling is a bit too pedestrian - much like a run-of-the-mill Camry. But everything's a trade-off in life I guess. Both these cars are wonderful choices!

I currently drive a Porsche (981 CS), which replaced my GS450h, so suffice to say I'm not biased against either of these. The Panamera for me is the only comparable car that I think is even close to a match for the GS and yet I would consider re-buying my old GS and wouldn't even look at that gen of Panamera. I test drove an F13 M6 when looking to replace the GS and, while obviously faster, all it did was make me doubt whether I should sell the GS. Not anti-BMW either, I love a bunch of their cars (1M and old M135i especially) but that M6 was leagues behind the GS. What I will say is the GS chassis is hugely improved by having batteries in the back, the handling balance is perfect with those, even if it's a bit heavy. I found the 250 (no 350 here) felt a bit nose-heavy. I find Lexus models always take at least a month to get used to, whereas German cars (especially Audis) leave a great first impression and only get worse from there, hence why reviewers love German cars. Edit: Worth adding that the biggest downside with a Lexus is having to convince everyone it's good, gets boring. People love badges, especially people who think they're good drivers but really aren't.
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
This comment is far too accurate, very very happy that you actually get it. Funny enough I did a review on the F13 M6, was one of my dream cars growing up because it looked so good. Drove it and was disappointed with the lack of refinement, ride quality, and unusable power. Lexus is calibrated perfectly for street driving and as you described, doesn't offer gimicks and a great "first impression" that lead most car reviewers to not appreciate it. Almost every other car brand offers you a great first impression particularly the Germans and the cheaper Genesis models but then die out quickly. Most Lexus models are the ones that will be great to drive even after 10 years
@ApothecaryTerry4 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup Totally agreed- I was expecting the M6 to be mind-blowingly good (being a £100k M car it should be) but ignoring numbers there wasn't a single thing about it I liked more than the GS. Not that the M6 was bad, but it would have to be the same price to both buy and run as the GS for me to consider it (and I'd probably still pick the GS). For me a perfect example is the infotainment. I find the touchscreen in my Porsche impossible to use safely while driving and yet I never had that issue in the GS, even though people say the mouse system is awful. It's not the best, but because it's not what people are used to they write it off. I also love that 3 different people got in my GS and asked how I'd spent £60k on a brand new car...before I pointed out it had 80k miles on it! The material quality is insane, the leather wasn't even shiny. We don't get Genesis models here in the UK which is a shame, since the Korean brands have really been putting great cars out lately.

@ApothecaryTerry10 ай бұрын
@@juanete69 A used Conti GT starts from about £15k here, with good ones under £25k, so I've been very tempted. I never had a test drive though, since the running costs are just too high to enjoy it. It uses at least twice as much fuel as the 981CS, while servicing and tyres would be more like 4x the cost. I actually went a bit crazy - I test drove a Giulia QV, M4 Comp, A110, Supra, 540i xDrive, Audi S4, Macan GTS and I think 12 different hot hatches...ended up buying a Peugeot 308 GTi for £15k! Not the "best" car for sure- that's still the 981 or the GS450h without hesitation for me. The Pug is the only car more fun than an MX-5 for me though, easily the best hot hatch in that regard. Incidentally, I also drove a £120k+ Panamera 4S e-Hybrid Sport Turismo since my original comment...that's an extremely nice car. Hello, Two years ago I purchased a 2015 GS350 F Sport with 58K miles. I have since driven it 30K miles. It is pretty close to perfect. You will not be disappointed. The 2015 is sort of a "sweet spot" for this series. I hope things turned out OK for you. Did you get the red interior?

Something you said, I agree with, since it’s an upscale Toyota most good mechanics, like mine, can work on it. And I don’t need no stinking racetrack.

People's obsession for more power and abilities in a car that will only be driven on regular roads and streets is just so stupid to me. Lexus understands that and that's why focus more on comfort and reliability. People say their sport cars aren't as fast as their German counterparts but what does that matter?
@MeynMotorGroup Жыл бұрын
Well I think I proved in this video that both of these cars feel pretty much identical. There’s probably not much higher praise that can be given to the GS then that

I see many people say Gs is a better Es 350, drives better. But also the GS cost way more than a ES.... crazy
@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Doesn't cost way more new holds about 3-4k more in the used market because it's a more desirable car. I can compare a GS with Porsche on driving but I can't do the same with an ES. But the ES is great to cruise in, it's a bit of a one trick pony

@MeynMotorGroup4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks so much my friend, I have not driven a non F sport RC 350, but the GS with or without F sport is fine as long as it is a 2013-2015 MY. I drove a non F sport 2015 IS 350 and it was unacceptable really did not like it, but the 2014 F Sport IS 350 was amazing as was the 2016 RC 350 F sport I drove so I think F sport is important in the RC

I had to stop the video here to comment, Porsche, will never be Lexus. not even close to worth it. The worlds views is so crazy that you choose to (not you but the mass public) value a car that's superior based on the brand and justify it monetarily. If money or looks weren't an issue, (which I believe Porches (Porsches- see what an s missing did there)) then you would or everyone would have a different opinion. reputation means more than what you're worth but Lexus will never be a reputable brand that sacrifices those means. Atleast I hope not... coming from 2022. I'd choose that Lexus over that porsche any day if I had to say whichever I chose will determine how long I would live. looks and long term. Slow and Steady wins the race..
