Lexus GX470 No Sound Mark Levinson Amplifier Troubleshooting and Fix

In this video, I go over how to fix the GX470 with Mark Levinson Sound. Mine is a 2006 with navigation.
Tools needed:
(Don’t need all of these, but included in case I missed anything)
8, 10, 12, 14mm sockets
T15, T20, T25 Torx
Phillips (+) screwdriver

I just remembered, of course remember to check your fuses as well! There are 3 total fuses to check in the driver side and engine fuse boxes. Check fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-gx470-j120-2002-2009-fuses for GX470 fuse diagram. In the driver side fuse box: check fuse 22 (acc) In the engine compartment: check fuse 26, 42 (radio 1, radio 2). In the video you mentioned your fan would cutout after a couple of seconds and that indicates a dead amp, however, when you installed the new amp you don’t mention the fan at all. Does it also cutout after a couple of seconds? I ask because my “new” amp is doing this and I don’t know if a fan cutting out necessarily means the audio won’t work

Sorry I don’t remember 100% don’t have the car anymore but with new amp my Lexus worked so check the fuses mentioned in my comment above and if that doesn’t fix it it may be the head unit itself

not sure, weird thing was, worked when I took it in to get the timing belt (and water pump) changed, but, didn't work when I got it back. but just the idea a replacement amp should do the trick is a great help. also, your fuse check suggestion helps too. many thanks!! (at age 63, things like this help me beleive that the internet might not be the anti-christ)

If only Lexus made these Amps. Just had mine repaired under warranty on a ct200 premier. The bill came to £1400 not sure what that is in dollars but at least 4 times the $400 repair available in your country. Very lucky the car warranty covered it here in the UK

How come the navigation works but no sound from radio?

That’s because the navigation bypasses the amplifier, so as long as your speakers or your fuses aren’t blown, you should be able to hear it!

Any idea mine still won’t work. Won’t show volume increasing. Nav goes, replaced fuses and amp, no luck….

Sounds to me like an actual radio unit is needed. Not the display but the radio

This is seriously exciting. I have been driving my Lexus GX 470 for years with no sound. Brought it to 2 audio shops and the dealer. No one could help I hope this works for me. How do I know which amplifiers are compatible?

Hey man, go ahead and check the model # under your seat. You don’t have to remove the seat to check, just move the carpet out of the way and take a peek. Chances are you have a 86280-0w141 like mine, and so what I purchased will work for your as well. (86280-0w041, from 01-03 LS430).

Fuse #26 on my ‘06 GX w/ ML is seat heaters. I just fuse tapped it yesterday to power my raptor lights.

The amplifier I purchased was $175 after tax on eBay. Can be found all day for $190-$200.

I have a 05 gx470 my wife and I was checking fuses and the screen settings. We planning on switching out the head unit for a tablet screen, This definitely helped out dude appreciate it🤙🏽 🔥 🔥🔥

The amp is a little underpowered compared to the original since the bass and mid range is noticeably weaker and slightly distorted but it gets the job done and for half the price! Thank you for saving me some money while i’m in a bind
