Lexus IS300 Sunroof / Moonroof Stuck, Clicking Sound *FIX* (How to access the motor)

I pointed out a few things that you need to remove in order to gain access to the sunroof motor.
FYI, the screws that hold the sun visors and map light in place are different but similar in size and shape. They are not interchangeable.
Visor screws - Philips screws (6 total)
Map Light/Sunroof Control - Philips screws (2 total)
A-Pillar panels - 10MM bolts

I had the Same exact problem bro and idk how but by the grace of got I was hitting spot between the light & the slide front and back button with my index finger knuckle to see if the banging of my fiber would move those coils inside the machine it has to help the tilt close and IT WORKED. Try hitting on it not too hard but not too soft and keep pressing the button at the same time, hopefully it too will close like mine. I’m not sure how this helps but anything works at this point, especially in Miami.

Lol. I'm guilty of doing that. It's funny how our human instinct defaults us back to primal methods in a first or last desperate attempt at remedying an issue. It's also funny because it often works.

Bro thank you. My sunroof got stuck open on the way to work today and I was gonna try and fix it in the parking lot. But I banged on it in the exact spot and it started working lmao. Big props.

Good video. Would like to know your LED number for the map light? My whole problem started with that dang light. Buddy's shop was liquidating (stereo/tint/mild interior work shop) and moving out of state, and had a wide assortment of LED's. I couldn't get the bulb out of the fixture, so I just took out the whole fixture and brought that in the shop. He was sold out on the LED that would fit, so I just screwed the light fixture back in when I left. Sunroof worked fine until then (2002 IS300) Would do all it's motions up until that point of re-installation. I hear the relay 'clicking' down under the foot well, but NO movement of the sunroof AT ALL!! Just happened to find another IS in the pull-a-part (very rare around here) and snatched another fixture all to have same result. NO movement of sunroof. Any thoughts? (myIS.com hasn't come up with any responses for over a year lol..) And, could you please post up the LED replacement number? Thank you.

Hi. I would check to see if the connector that plugs into the subroof motor is getting power itself. Then you'll be able to work backward from there. The LED that I'm using for my maplight is custom made. I took a generic LED that worked for the license plate and soldered then epoxied it to the original maplight bulb base.

From what I've read, LED bulb for dome is BA9S

HELP. Okay so basically the sunroof would not open I bought a new motor changed it everything in the right way, but the sunroof still won't open its making a Clicking sound and the sunroof only moves a half inch. Anyone that can help highly appreciated.

Hi there. If your motor is new it should be safe to assume that it's not the issue. However, you can try removing the motor and verifying that it operates outside of the track system. If possible I would suggest checking the track for any objects or debris. My solution pertains to the motor itself. Best of luck and I would love to hear your eventual solution.

@@Leonsk08 Hi Yeah same here I assume the motor was the problem too but I took it out of the grove a tested it it spins, afterwards I took the glass out and clean the debris around it and oiled up all the parts, still not working ( won't work without the glass out of it too ) if i find out a solution I will post.

So i assume that your sunroof is open ? , Ifso Unblot the motor Again [ 2 bolts ] keep it Your hands [ Hands Away from Gear/Cog Part ] and press the button to put the sunroof forward and the back.... Make sure it is in the Back position [ Sunroof should be open position ] then reinstall.. [ THIS IS ONLY IF YOUR SUNROOF IS ALREADY OPEN, DO NOT DO THIS IF YOUR GLASS IS CLOSED AKA CLOSED POSITION ] May help...

^^^^^^ But No still have not found a solution, Took the motor out and disassemble it and cleaned the copper bits [ WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE Motor now spinning faster, Basically new now ]. But my problem anyway is the [ Gear/Cog on the Motor ] THAT hole on the sunroof frame that the [ Motor Gear/Cog ] goes into, Inside that hole there is the same Gear/Cog Shape, But i think that is the Problem Maybe seized or stuck... I asked someone If i could cut my old motor Gear/Cog off and make some sort of hand leaver Just to free it so it Moves [ If it is Seized or Stuck ] and then put the motor back in. But most people saying DO NOT as it might break Something, SO looks like my next adventure is too take the Headliner off [ And bounce it off the ground lol i'm jk , DO NOT DO THAT ] But maybe Buy a new Frame That works, Then Do that xD
