Beautiful looking car. Just bought one and I’m very satisfied with performances which are sufficient for me. Same 0-100 as my corvette C5. Loves it

I took the hybrid version out for a test drive yesterday. I enjoyed the car because it was brisk enough for motorway cruising and effortlessly flew along at 80+. Despite the massive wheels the ride didn't feel compromised and it felt comfortable enough with the adaptive ride controls. I really liked the interior design, though the controls mounted on the binnacle looked out of place, and realistically, nobody is going to be sitting in the back. Though perhaps not to everyone's taste, I love the design, it looks fantastic and will seriously consider buying one.

very fair review. While most whinge about the hybrid/CVT, you show that it provides a great economy / acceleration ratio.
@fontking1a2 жыл бұрын
Try to take this as "constructive criticism". The infotainment is fantastic for adults who understand that when you own a complex machine, you really should read the Owner's Manual to learn all about the features. Lexus even provided the manual within the infotainment system. The "trackpad" is only there so you don't have to use it. It's simply an input device to load your personal preferences. Once that is accomplished, you learn VOICE COMMAND and you'll (almost) never have to use the trackpad again. Adults assume the world-class designers and engineers at Lexus wanted their customers to have the finest car in production today and that's what they did. But, our job, as customers and owners, is to read the Owner's Manual. When you consider it takes just a few hours and then you're all set for years of motoring pleasure, it's well worth the time. So, next time you get to review the best car in the entire world, why not behave like a real adult and do your job? Don't assume YOU are smarter than everyone else. Assume everyone else knows what they are doing and if something goes wrong, it's probably you that's at fault.

I wish I could understand why people have such issues with fake exhaust pipes? They just don’t bother me.
@djoetma6 жыл бұрын
Because they are fake. You're paying so much money and they are fake. Why not make them real then?
@itmustbelove086 жыл бұрын
L.GH. Djoetma well the exhaust exists behind the fake bonnet and what if they put nothing there? Who determined that visible exhaust is in direct relation to the cost of a car? They are there they are just behind something decorative it’s almost like some alpha type display of power. Are you upset that the Tesla costs so much and they don’t have them? Probably not because it’s an electric car but it’s performance is there. It cost about as much. Visible exhaust don’t dictate performance or otherwise. It just a necessary item that designers are choosing to decorate for a cohesive design.
@martian99996 жыл бұрын
agreed: since most cars have a high degree of phoniness, why worry about exhaust pipes? (Fake economy, phony reliability, only theoretical greenness, not much utility, little real-world speed...)

I wonder why they don’t just put in the 10gear gearbox they put in the v8 model. As a Rx400h I am a huge fan of Lexus. It has been extremely reliable, as good as 11 years and 163.000km ago when my I bought it. I have since driven both rx450h and I think that there hasn’t been much involvement in the hybrid system. Still more or less the same horsepower, still the same gearbox, doesn’t justify the price of entry for upgrading. Even this two step gearbox seems kind of annoying..

Why the hell does every reviewer think the LC 500 is a race car? It isn't and never was intended to be. It's plenty fast but it's really a LUXURIOUS, VERY LUXURIOUS LUXURY GT CAR. It's a beautiful machine, inside and out with excellent performance as a bonus. It's not a race car. I'm betting there isn't one reviewer who would be happy if this LUXURY CAR did 0-60 in under 3 seconds. They would all say there was room for improvement. Folks, you can't have everything. No such car exists. You can have certain specific things but there are unintended consequences. Buy that supercar that does 0-60 in 1.8 seconds and you'll spend all of your money on repairs. Almost every other car suffers from cheap parts and that's where it gets expensive. The LC 500 won't leave you stranded by the side of the road. Most other high dollar cars will...and more than once. If 0-60 in 4.4 or 4.7 isn't fast enough for you, you don't belong on the public roads with other motorists trying to get from Point A. to Point B. safely. You're a nutjob who should be driving on a race track. Ignore most of the reviewers of the LC 500 and simply go test drive one yourself. Then, and only then, will you understand what a fabulous car this really is.
@MarekDrivesENG2 жыл бұрын
I'd rather have the S Class Coupe with a usable boot and a usable rear seat. The LC500 still looks great after all these years, but the interior is quirky to say the least.

@@MarekDrivesENG Isn't it great we get to choose? I'm all for that. But, when all is said and done, German cars reduce the size of your wallet...by a lot. The Lexus will never leave you stranded by the side of the road and you'll never pay $750.00 for a wheel bearing. And...nobody even looks at a German car but they definitely pay attention to the LC 500.

So what about Corvette for example? Strictly 2-seater, but relatively cheap. Could be cheaper with second row of seats?

I guess. But it would also have to pass a crash test with the rear seats occupied. And it's extra weight.

Wrong car for this drivetrain, IMO. Sounds awful under hard acceleration. There are diesels that sound better. And if just a cruiser for ageing poseurs, why is the ride so harsh?! Get the V8 or get another car.

I drove the V8 (convertible), and it felt unrefined. Lexus V8 was great in the IS-F, but not in the LC500.

What a pointless car. And what a dull review. You talk about car which costs 100k+ and half of your review you talk about fuel consumption. On the other hand you prove that all the hybrids use the same amount of fuel as a regular cars. What is the point of paying extra for a technology which doesn't work and even more spoils the ride? You buy a GT car but ride a Prius. And regarding design - yes, when you look at it maybe to some it is nice, but once you take your eyes off it - you immediately forget about it. Like most Toyota designs this Lexus looks already old.
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
Actually if you count the words (and I can, because I have the script) everything fuel economy is about 10 percent of the entire review, which I'd say is acceptable for a hybrid vehicle. HYBRID. You know, the one that's all about efficiency and saving the planet.
@MrMindala6 жыл бұрын
I disagree with that too. Taking into consideration the complexity of manufacturing hybrid, planet polluting is even bigger. And because hybrids are no more economical than regular cars you see my point. Btw do you remember that TG episode, where JC drives M3 and Prius tries to keep up?
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
Yes. And it only proves that Prius is optimised for hypermilling, not for flooring it.
@MrMindala6 жыл бұрын
So what is the point of this Lexus then?
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
For a 5-second-0-100km/h it is relatively economical.
