@Mr. Commonsense It was an airbag recall regarding issues from a third party manufacturer. Welcome to airbags. NO manufacturer builds their own units. Its autoliv, takada or whoever else they use. Those units need to be replaced. Simple as that. That does not represent the engine, drivetrain, chassis or any other components manufactured by Lexus so cut the crap. Recalls that involve OEM component failure, transmission issues and such are valid complaints. GM's Colorado having airbags blowing while off roading is a valid example of a recall that questions reliability. The more you know. Want long term reliability? The thunking, rough ride and harshness over broken pavement is the tires. Switching from run-flat to regular tires takes just about all of that away. I also saw a minor (1-2mpg) increase in fuel economy after the change. The rain sensitive wipers are not sensitive enough with misting or light rain. A firmware upgrade should fix this. The climate control doesn't pump enough heat out of the face vents from a cold start. The heat is there very quickly and I can manually set it to warm the cabin, otherwise left to its own devices the car will warm the foot well while giving me a draft of coolish air out the face vents.A firmware upgrade should fix this. For such a long car the rear seats don't have near the legroom of the S or the 7, it's ok but not great. On the other hand the power seats in the rear of the new LS adjust in more directions than the equivalent seats in the S, I'm sure the mechanism and motors for this take up some number of inches. At 30,000 miles the only problem I have had so far is part of the massage on the drivers seat has an air leak. I'm hugely impressed; the first year of production of a completely new model with so much stuff going on and it all works.

@MPower3964 жыл бұрын
how many miles do you have now any other reliability/maintenance issues?
@FawltyExposures4 жыл бұрын
@@MPower396 at 90,000 and nearly three years old now. Had to have the massage fixed three times in the driver seat and twice in the passenger. Lexus replaced the controllers the last time they fixed them and the pressure of the massage has been reduced. Both sides had the same issues return after that and I didn't bother having them fixed again. There is a known issue with the front brakes making a thunking noise when coming to a stop. The dealer never found a fix for it, I drove a 2019 which didn't do it. I assume they have a fix for it now. The brakes are generally noisy but they function just fine. Still on the original braking components all the way round, which is a nice saving. I don't believe I had to have a repair which wasn't in warranty. Service costs have been $250 to $450 for the 10k intervals, which seems more than reasonable to me. I'm not happy with the wipers, they smear water and leave lines, according to my service advisor Lexus made the "rubber" stiffer. I had a loaner with exactly the same issue. This is enough to put me off buying another LS until they fix this. The logic for both the rain sensitive wipers and the automatic high beam is sub par, I mostly operate both manually. I just purchased a BMW 750i, 523HP vs 414 for the LS, and the difference feels bigger than that. I have a 328i which doesn't feel too much slower than the LS. 750 also wins on massage, ride, seats and general cabin comfort, quietness, wipers, headlights and putting a grin on my face because it's a rocket. The iDrive in the 750 beats the pants off the touchpad in the LS, also the BMW has buttons for things. The LS has few buttons, leaving you to click click click click on the trackpad to turn on heated seats for example. LS has the looks, three years later and people are still staring at it and taking pictures. The Mark Levinson is as good as the Bowers and Wilkins and approaching half the price. The 2021 LS may close the gap, but after just four days with the 750 that gap is pretty huge.
@FawltyExposures4 жыл бұрын
@@Mabeylater293 The engine comes to temperature quickly and the heat is available, but the Lexus sits on it and sends some heat to the windshield, what I want is a blast of hot air into the cabin. Turn the fan up and put it out everywhere. Otherwise the "Climate Concierge" does an OK job. Not nearly as good as my previous GS350, that was flawless HVAC and enhanced the luxury, the LS is just OK.

It is difficult to fathom how Ford and GM could squander this lofty position; it was not due to a lack of engineering skill or development resources. I drive a Maybach 57s with the V12 6.0 liter engine. Truly, even in 2024, this Lexus LS 500 is next level ❤.

Looking for a Lexus and trying to decide on a twin turbo 2018 LS or 2020 RX 450h. Want serenity and plushy and soft ride but I was shocked to hear that LS suspension was hard. Which ride do you prefer better when comparing RX and LS when it comes to ride comfort? Thank you.

Hey Victor, if you still haven’t bought a car I would definitely recommend the LS 500 with air ride (here in Australia air ride is standard but from my understanding in the states it’s an option). The RX450h is still an amazing ride but nothing compares to the LS 500. I’ve done a few reviews out on them including ones where I sit in the back and get driven around. Feel free to check it out :-)

5.0 L V8, that’s what I wish was in it. I love this car. I have an LS460 with the 4.6 L V8. I’ve seen so many of these in person. I’ve sat in several too because I go to a million different Lexus dealers lol. The freaking interior is insane. Literally the best ever. Lexus of Escondido has a ton of these. And even an LFA. Lexus of wood,and Hills has an LFA as well.

Owning a 2004 Lexus LS430, I think LS must always have a V8 power engine. I wish they would have opted for a small block V8 instead of V6. And yes … my 15 year old LS430 is as good as ever, so I have no plans to get a new one soon. This is what Lexus does the best that no one else can do.

It’s the run flat tires ☹️ .....at 7000 miles I took the runflat tires off of my LS 500. Taking the tires off made a world of difference on how my car drove.

Buy high quality summer tires like Michelin Pilot Sport Cup or for more refined, all season driving the new Continental PureContact LS.

Excellent review! Honest, clear and to the point! So good!! We need a full review on this car! F-Sport too! Tell us your thoughts on the LS moving from a traditional luxury sedan in the 4th gen to a front mid-engined platform for the 5th gen!

Why have info screen mouse control or even buttons for the comfort features? Voice control: "Massage, lower back, medium, 10 minutes."

I'm actually wondering now that Lexus has trademarked a Lexus IS500 if that will actually have this TT V6 because if they were gonna put the 2UR-GSE V8 from the RC F, GS F, and LC500, wouldn't it just be called the IS F? Then again, the LC500 is just called the LC500, so who knows. I'd be happy just to have a higher performance version of the IS, but man oh man would I love to see that thing with a V8 again.

I drove the Executive model for a day. And you are 1000% correct with everything. Exactly how i felt about the LS. Only think I was hoping it to be more “Grand” with the interior. But i guess they win you over with its simplicity. Surprisingly, there was a bit too much road noise for my liking. I was hoping to fall asleep. I didnt drive the Hybrid. But it would be the one Id get. Too bad Lexus loves to make you buy predestined models and options. I wished they made a hybrid F sport.

Very good review. I am concerned that Lexus has gone towards designing sporty riding cars and introducing fake sounds in a supposedly extremely quiet cabin. What are they thinking? The only, but only reason I bought Lexus in the past is due to it smoothest, quietest ride ever. I basically do not want to feel the road, or feel any vibrations; Lexus was great at that ..... before.
@Mabeylater2935 жыл бұрын
No such thing as “sporty riding”. Call it what it is, a worse ride, a harder ride, not a smooth ride.

I'm amazed that there hasn't been some sort of collaboration between a mobile phone manufacturer, these people have a lot of practice with this. It's no surprise that car manufacturers suck at creating touch screen UI, it has little to nothing to do with car manufacturing, until now. I do love the gauge cluster though.

Did a video of this car. When Lexus was hosting a event on chicago during the summer. The twin turbo was pretty good. Defiantly a ton of turbo lag. But once it gets going it moves.

Regarding the sound... I wish they used a similar approach that they have used in the IS 350, GS 350, etc. and of course now the LC 500. The LC has "enhanced" engine noise that isn't digital and sounds very, VERY good.

For a $100K+ car I saw a lot of rust underneath already (between 13:20 and 13:36). You wouldn't see that sort of thing on aluminium suspension parts, which this car should have at this price range.

I have a question about the car is the v6 quiet while driving also is the hybrid stop and go when your at a red light can you turn it off..? I’m looking to buy one please let me know who ever has this car don’t care about speed want the quiets smooth ride
