You are one lucky mechanic for that to bearing to come out like butter out of that bracket. Most toyotas and my seinna van had frozen up the bracket, bearing to where i had to cut both sides of the bracket.. The one bolt on bracket is impossible, therefore the cut. .keep posting, great camera work

cut the axle close to the trans. its the only way. order a new bracket same your ass .

Great video. You saved my ass. Just about to wrap up the job and wanted to add my experiences.1. center support bearing in the cradle bolted to the block. Yours slide right out. Mine was FROZEN. I used air chisel and could not budge it. A Lexus tech told me to remove the cradle from the block. Wrong. It is pinned in place and rusted to the pins. Plus the axle will not flex enough to allow the cradle to come off. I ended up using my oxy/acetylene torch to cook the bearing and cradle. Then the axle slide right out.2. I must have had the car at an angle because when the axle came out so did about 1/2 qt of ATF. I was not ready for it and what a mess.3. Lower ball joint was toast. It was easy to replace, just bolts on. Assume you will need one and have it on hand.Thank you.

I just did one on a 2005 ES 330. Driver side 20 mins. Passenger took 35 because of snap ring in the middle. Fairly easy. 30mm Deep socket axle socket.

I'd always remove the cross pipe for more room but cool how it be done without, my 330 is here👌😳...
@condor56353 жыл бұрын
Very familiar with this process but I've never heard of the word cross pipe. What is that?
@drewt10813 жыл бұрын
"there's a clip that holds it in place" it only holds it long enough for the bearing race to rust, and seize to the support...lol

Getting ready to to the exact same thing to my Lexus RX330. If I hadn't watched your video, I would have removed the knuckle from the lower control arm, whew . . . you saved me a lot of time. One question, should i remove any transmission fluid so it doesn't leak out after removing the axle? Superb video!!

Ok, cool,just did it at a new record time, another tip, I guess you don't have to take both strut bolts off either, even further, better to savie time by not having to do alignments after🏁💃🔨

Great vid. How do you know when it is time to change out the axles? Are there any signs to look or listen for while driving?
@uglyhp82254 жыл бұрын
broken boots is a sign but once you start to get a vibration on acceleration or clicking while turning

I just removed my driver side rx350 2009 cv axle and about 2 quarts of transmission fluid came out. Is that normal? Or was it too full?
@uglyhp8225 Жыл бұрын
depending how its jacked up yea that can be normal
@leong20236 жыл бұрын
Perfect. I did the left, now its time to do the passenger side. Thx
@leong20236 жыл бұрын
clip is a pain. My passenger bearing was rusted bad. Took hours with a sledgehammer & PB to get it out. I absolutely do not recommend doing the passenger with normal jackstands. Needs to be on a lift! Drivers side is easy! Rackboot looks saturated with p.steeing fluid like mine. Inner tie rod was completely dead.

How important is the spring clip or c-clip? I had a buddy install my cv axles on the same truck and it popped out. And I took it to Aamco and one of the mechanics saw that it was missing. The truck is running fine at the moment. I've heard that the axle will never stay in without the c-clip. Is this a fact?
@uglyhp82256 жыл бұрын
well the clip is there to hold it into the trans if the axle binds it could slide all the way out or damage the splines in the trans
@scartermusictx6 жыл бұрын
The metal sleeve that meets the transmission does not go flush on mine - any tricks for this? Ive pounded the end of the axle and it still won’t go in any further c clip goes on just fine
@uglyhp82256 жыл бұрын
some axles wont best way to tell is to look at the marks on the old axle and some times you have to beat the crap outta them to get it in

Just go to rock auto and put in your model and year. Why would you want to use another persons part number when it's not even the same model year car?

That metal aluminum round thing that goes over the seal once it meets the diff. I dented mine a little can that cause fluid to leak ?

if it rips the seal that part also helps if the seal trys to walk out and helps keep debrees out
