The reason the high beam switches off towards the end of the review is because it sees the tail-lights of the vehicle in the distance and doesn't want to blind the occupants. The system is awesome - you can just switch it on and forget about it...🙂👍🙏

Your experiences parallel mine completely. We got our Hyundai Palisade almost a month ago and immediately drove from Canada to Texas. There are definite quirks and you cannot go into the back seat and sleep but the driving assists reduce stress to near zero in traffic and in stop and go on a straight road you could in fact have a little nap but you'd be an idiot to do so. Ours wants to take the odd exit as well and doesn't like sharp corners either. One way or another these features actually make me a better, safer driver.

Nice vid. Looking to move into an RX sometime in the future for my wife. She currently has a 2010 FX35 and most of these technologies in this video are present on the FX35 depending if the packages were purchased. With the FX35 radar cruise control, the system has to be activated firstly. While activated, if the vehicle in front comes to a stop the FX35 can stop by itself if the vehicle in front is "slowly" coming to a stop. When the vehicle in front starts moving again, the FX35 will start moving by itself also. I think this is why it didn't work for you because you activated it after the stop. Just guessing though. The around view monitor in her 2010 FX35 is something she uses all the time. She doesn't want any other vehicle if it doesn't have this technology. The auto feature on the Lexus is nice though. So is the panoramic spin view. She lacks blind spot monitoring, rain sensing wipers, the pre collision system, and the auto high beams. So these will be nice additions when she finally gets an RX.

MoNo K - The top 360 view is actually taken by the 4 cameras that sees the front, back, right, and left of your vehicle and merges them all together to see one continuous view. The top car “image” you see in the center of the picture is actually a virtual car- it’s not actually your real car. Lol. If you want to really be impressed with this technology, google “Audi 3D 360 Camera view.” They have the best HD camera view at the moment in the car industry.

I just bought a new RX and this video was super helpful in helping me figure out some of the safety features, thank you! Based on your experience, which safety features would you have enabled/disabled for your daily driving if you owned this SUV? I find the Lane Change Assist annoying most of the time... maybe I'm just not used to it. The automatic high beams are decent, but there are times it tends to flash people - albeit very momentarily. Still debating whether I would rather do it myself. Which features would you trust for your daily driving?
@PrimeAutotainment4 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it! I hope you enjoy your RX! Most of the time i would just let the blind spot monitor and forward collision system be on, and when at highway speeds i usually like to use radar cruise, although I override it quite a bit lol. WHen I had radar cruise going on a mostly straight road I also like to have the lane keeping system active, but that can get annoying too. Auto high beams, I feel the same way you do. Usually I would just use those on a road with not much traffic to where it doesn't have to turn off and on frequently, hoping to avoid flashing people. I never had big trust issues with any of them, but also only got to spend a week of mixed driving. They are nice to have when you want them, and it's also great you can turn all of them off whenever you want. Thanks for watching!

I ‘m a heavy commuter and I rely on the Dynamic Cruise Control all the time in my daily commute with traffic. But I never liked how Lexus does the Dynamic Cruise Control with active Lane Keep Assistant and Centering. The car always accelerates too slowly and the distance kept (even at distance 1) is still too far where other cars can cut in, causing the system to brake hard suddenly. Also when at a full stop, it stop way too early- In heavy traffic, this can be dangerous because it comes to complete stop further than most cars expected behind you, which can be dangerous if the driver behind you is not paying attention.
@alwaysiyi2724 жыл бұрын
Those problems have been fixed in the 2.0 and 2.5 versions I believe
@ONI1013.4 жыл бұрын
Iboy Dafreshest - unfortunately no. I have the 2.0 and driven the newer 2.5 in the 2020 models. I don’t think Lexus believes this is a problem. It’s more of a preference for them. They’re generally more conservative with the automations (ex. Steering assist with lane departure is much less aggressive, cruising distance is further, etc). Some ppl may like that more.
@mark86844 жыл бұрын
Nolan - Appreciate you showing actual testing/performance vs just talking about features! Surprised, the performance results were not that good. I own a 2017 Subaru Outback and I think the Eyesight system, in particular the adaptive cruise control, works better. The Lexus lane tracing performance was very disappointing; I think the Hyundai system works much better. Appreciate the headlamp testing as well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the review. We are awaiting our 2020 RX450H executive ,trading a 2014 Acura MDX which had every option. Our MDX had lane centering and worked similarly but probably would handle those curves. I find one of the biggest benefits is during crosswinds as it takes all the work out of that. I do think the dash layout is getting dated but am looking forward to the RX.

@Marvin-fn7ks3 жыл бұрын
@@leeandruby we like it quite well but I have to say I’m not a big fan of the black interior. We had a deer hit July 7 and still don’t have it back due to parts delays. Parts prices are crazy. The Hybrid option was $2200 Canadian and one hybrid wiring harness is $8000 which makes no sense . The headlight assembly is $3600 for one ! Good thing for insurance.

I had a 2021 RX 350 loaner while my ES350 was in the shop to replace the TPM and gave me the opportunity to try out all of the safety systems. I loved everything, but the "Lane Assist" system on the road drove as if it was drunk. I found that the RX 350 stayed within the lines, but was slowly weaving to the left and right as if searching for a sweet spot. I would think if a deputy was behind me he would pull me over to give me a sobriety test. How would you explain the slow weaving to a cop that it was the car! I could always tell the cop to do a sobriety test on the Lexus since I had gas with ethanol in the tank.

I have 2018 Rx450H, the LKA are not working well, just like yours. But I tried 2018 UX and 2019 NX in Motorway, they are much better than RX. They did easily keep the car in the centre of the lane. But my RX is bouncing between then lane and very easily cross the lane. I am thinking openpilot now.
@BimalPoddar4 жыл бұрын
The lane assist is a gimmick - I turned it off in my Lexus - now no more of the annoying steering wheel vibrations. Your video showed the typical problem with this system - it veers off from the center of the lane - so practically, you get nothing useful from the system - all you get is the annoying vibration on the steering wheel. The dynamic cruise control seemed very exciting but I don't use that either. If I am trying to go at 70MPH and the guy in front slows down to 60, the dynamic cruise control slows my car down too - no audible warning nothing. Then you suddenly realize - you are going too slow - at this rate, it would take much longer to get to the destination. The better course of action when somebody in front is slowing down is to change lanes and move past the slow poke instead of letting the dynamic radar make you another zombie slow poke. The other thing was that the distance being maintained was too big - so when you are driving in traffic, it is an open invitation to everybody and their brothers to abuse the space in front of you - cut in front of you whenever they feel like. I just use the old non-radar cruise control - if the car in front is slowing down, I can see the distance shrinking - then I can make the intelligent decision to slow down or change lanes. Of all the features, I suspect the one feature that you don't see and you hope not to see is the best one - the collision avoidance.
@davidkirkham64974 жыл бұрын
You can change lanes when using radar cruise control same as when not using it! Jus step on gas peddle & change lanes!
