4 novembre 1918: l'Italia è in tripudio. Rispetto al 1915 il contesto internazionale è però cambiato: gli interessi italiani si scontrano con quelli di alleati mai amici e il peso reale del nostro Paese non è assolutamente pari alle iniziali ambizioni. Prenderne atto è doloroso per la pubblica opinione e devastante per le istituzioni. La pace, alla fine, arriverà ed anche a buone condizioni; ma oramai lo stato liberale è entrato in agonia...
