We need to learn something other than the stretch pass. Teams have figured us out, and that to stop us you just give our defenseman no time to make a pass and clog the zone and we're screwed. I know if wasn't necessarily apparent in this game but it's something that teams the past 20 games have really started doing and we're .500 during that period. Babs and the rest of the coaching staff need to address this IMO.

I was at this game. I thought the Leafs played great (save for a few moments in the second period). However, the majority of fans around me were pretty brutal. Complaining if Matthews, Marner, or Nylander did anything remotely wrong. Booing Gardiner for getting checked, when Connolly’s goal results from being unguarded in front of the net. Calling the PP terrible after puck movement was great, Holtby made a bunch of great saves, and the Caps got a good bounce for a 2 on 1, and a goal. I get the passion of being a fan, but when someone behind me says, “Matthews is terrible, they should bench him.”... I just get embarrassed for people.
@crusader00745 жыл бұрын
When Matthews is at his best he can give McDavid a run for the title of best player in the world. He is not the problem, the problem is luck...the Leafs don't have any. We are one of the most talented teams in the NHL. Any other division we might be leading...but in this division we have to compete with two other elite teams...Tampa and (yuck) Boston. The fear and worry is that Boston has our number...again! ...then again, Pittsburgh always seemed to have Washington's number, but look what happened last year. Hope springs eternal...even for a pessimist like me. I'm in! Go Leafs go!

I think the islanders where they are because imo Trotz is the best coach right now with a better staff especially goalie coach who is without doubt the best. That’s coming from a Caps fan who was almost at wits end with Trotz during the Cup season but saw he could eventually do it. I know from fan experience that a winning coach can get fired if they don’t get it done and that was how Trotz eventually came to Washington. So don’t be worried if if Babcock isn’t a hockey genius some thought he was and you see him fired. I loved and hated the entire journey to the Caps first cup, but once you have it everyone can get fucked cause your team has the cup. Although unlike he Caps it feels like the Leafs are in a much tighter window or maybe that’s just my bad memory.

I'm in dude, I've been IN for longer than you've been alive, but man this game was frustrating. First time this season we dropped 3 in a row, that hurt. Not cause it was just 1 loss but the 3rd and the frustration is building. I cant stop that, the Leafs have to do it for me. I've defended Babs, and even Sparks, but I am starting to wonder if Babs has lost the confidence of some of the team? Way too often we dont start on time, and way too often wait till 5 mins left in the 3rd. We need to figure that out, its NOT a physical thing, its between the ears 100%

Legit asking, though---we think we're the best fans, but we all know the ACC is quiet (especially on weeknights). Contrast that to most other Canadian cities, and I honestly wonder if that lackadaisical energy transfers over to the players? @@zodiac5375 I have no issue's with him as a coach, but it's become clear this season he isn't the right coach for this team. He is forcing players to play in ways that least utilize their strengths and waste their talents. Also I think it's clear Dubas isn't on the same page as Babs since he specifically requested the right to fire Babcock when he is GM, meaning he likely won't hesitate if he doesn't get the results he wants.
