I really enjoyed this video Steve. I watch the leafs because of my late great grandfather and if it wasn’t for him I’d probably be a damn Bruins fan like my dad (ya I know, thank god for my grandpa). Some of my happiest and earliest hockey memories were watching leafs games with him and listening to him talk about his favourite leafs memories. It kills me that I never got to celebrate this team winning a championship with him, and to this day I watch leafs game with a jersey with him on the back. I think you accurately depicted every leaf fan right now and I have often asked my friends the same thing, “well why are you watching them then?” I do sometimes get frustrated with this team but I love them and that is because of him. I watch this team so that I can someday go to grave knowing that the leafs are cup champions!

The problem is there focoused on the wrong things and getting in their own heads like seriously they need to stop trying so hard to score they go for perfect shots and just end up missing the net which more than likely causes a turn over and a scoring chance in their end they need to start going for low shots and rebounds go for greasy goals get that confidents back cause rn they have none and it shows

They arent playing with consistency & confidence. Almost like they want to miss the playoffs, but have more playoff chances ahead of Florida. It is good that Marner has more opportunities since getting a new defenseman. 5 things they need to do: Play defense Be consistent Shoot. The. Puck (However they did that last night. Especially with like 30 seconds left in the 3rd) If youre the highest paying team, play as we expect. Marner is getting $11M, as a consistent player, where is the consistency? In post game intervies, if they expect to play better. Do it

@@tsgpk9184 they have been playing defence pretty good in the games before but they go through these lapses of judgement almost like they cant think of what to do in the moment like take the matthews give away for example he just threw it in slot in his own end everyone know that's a nono in hockey and guess what it was a perfect pass but to the wrong team he could of done so much more with like maybe trying to chip it passed the blue line also alittle bit of it is luck too not much but alittle alot of it has been inconsistency like u said and confidants they dont play like they have 4 arguably 5 superstars I'm talking about hyman as the 5th I think he's a superstar man he can just take over a game like he took on 3 kings in 3 one 3 ot by him self shorthanded and won the battle he didnt score but he got 3 shots on net he did that with no help against 3 player seriously if that's not a superstar idk what is anyways they need to start playing like we the fans know they can we see it in flashes every game I dont know y they cant play there best hockey for a whole game

Best video I've seen yet from you, Steve. A much needed message to Leaf Nation. I'm a born and bread Torontonian who grew up idolizing Potvin, Clark, Joseph, Gilmour. This city has changed over the years, like anything does, and granted in the 90's we didn't have social media so there was a bigger buffer between some of the negativity of disgruntled fans and the organization themselves. But I do know one thing. When Dougie got on the microphone at Maple Leaf Gardens and said to the fans in '93, "Thanks to the fans of Toronto. We're gonna do something for you guys, yet", the fans felt it, he felt it. Everyone felt it. Leaf Nation believed it, because Doug said it. We need that trust in our guys again, we need leadership, the confidence of someone who can make that kind of statement and prove it. But as fans, we need to show the team we're on their side. That we'll be there for them when they do wake up from their sleeping giant syndrome, and prove that this is the greatest city to play hockey in, in the world - that we're there for them now. We have the potential, the team and the fans, to do better.

How do I feel? I dunno. After moving from Quebec to Ontario in 1969, I slowly switched my loyalty from the Habs to the Buds. I sat through the 70s watching games on a grainy B&W TV in my room, or listened to a crackly AM radio, only to be disappointed over and over and over again. Yet, I still watch. I still hope. I rant and encourage and yes, when I was 9 years old, I cried when the Leafs were knocked out of the playoffs. Steve, last Saturday I has at a family function, seeing some relatives I hadn't seen or talked to in years. We have very little in common but one of the few things we do have in common is that we cheer for the Leafs. Normally, that would be all we would or could talk about, but I've become so frustrated and angry with the Leafs that I've taking your advice and stopped watching quite a while ago. Therefore, when my relatives asked me about the Leafs all I could or would say was "I don't care anymore. Call me if they make the playoffs, otherwise don't bother". This is what is truly lost when a sports team has been so bad and so frustrating to cheer for for so long, familial bonding.

Long time Leaf fan. Believed in the Shanaplan when the team was torched to the ground and told that there would be pain...nothing new for loyal, suffering Leaf fan. However since they made the playoffs and in year one of the rebuild it seems to me, that the plans have changed. Prospects, picks given away which seems counter productive to me in a rebuild. Players that filled good roles at the right price lost on waivers, which then forced the GM to give up more of prospects and picks. Then as much as I'm glad that the Leafs got JT it changed and impacted the team in many ways. To me that is the TSN turning point of the rebuild. Ive grown accustomed to the Leafs losing but held onto the nice goal or highlight play. So dealing with the pain to come as the Shanaplan prophesied was no biggie. So now I dont know how to feel about the team as they seem to have lost direction and identity. At least before we knew to expect pain and low expectations...now not sure what to expect. Its not the loses to me but how they lose...its concerning with the laps of both judgment and compete level. Im taking a small break from watching...partially due to my work schedule...only got to see tje game against the Ducks out of the last 3 games. It'd be nice to see the compete and care level like in the 4-0 over the Pens more often. The fans including this fan care...not of winning every game...but that says they care and play for the crest on the front of the Jersey and fan base and not the name on the back of the Jersey! Go Leafs Go!
