Was there for my first game in 9 years, drove from Sudbury and took off two days off work to bring my little guy to his first game, for his 6th birthday. We paid: 650 for tickets, 200 for a hotel room,190 for gas, 170 for a JT kids jerseys, 80 for Ubers, 250 in snacks and food (for the entire trip). My son is awesome and he still loved the experience and because of him so did I….but I would be lying if I didn’t say that in the back of my mind I am thinking “how much more would it have cost to take the whole family to Disney?” Hopefully when you get to go with Leo, it is not only a great experience because you are there with him, but because but the Leafs show up to play hockey…. I know this is long and rambley, but I have one more question/comment: Do you think think pregame scouting report meeting on the leafs goaltenders is just one word, “shoot”
@robbie41282 жыл бұрын
380 per person for flights from YYZ to Orlando (cheapest I saw) , 109 per person for Disney tickets, and 100 - 200 per night for accommodations, assuming 4 ppl (380 * 4) + (109 * 4) + (150 * 2 nights) = 2256 So for $716 more you get 2 days in Florida and a day at Disney.

1st goal: off Reilly's pants. Not sure what Mrazek could have done; 2nd goal: Mrazek is actually in good position for the initial shot, but it goes off Sandin's foot and out front. 3rd goal: Not great depth and he should have gotten back on his edges when he had a chance. 4th goal: Nice neutral zone turnover, Skinner scores on a nice shot above the pad short side from the hash. That goes in on Soupy too. 5th goal: Great forecheck by the Sabres, finds the OPEN Okposo. Nice D! So realistically, Mrazek let in one bad one.

That game was another fine display of Matthews' Selke skills. People of Toronto wake up, he's not a Selke candidate. It's understood that the Canes make goalies look better than they would elsewhere (Nedeljkovic, for example). I think they feel more comfortable knowing they can settle in and make routine saves without having to scramble around. The Leafs make goalies scramble. Mrazek isn't good enough to make up for that.

@@PuckNutty Agreed, although as a Wings fan, I can say that Neddy is the real deal. The Canes stellar D core/systems certainly helped prop him up, but he's been solid this year despite the fact that our defence has a lot of work to do; many of his goals against are caused by defensive breakdowns. Mrazek, however, is much the same as he was during his time with Detroit - pretty solid when he's on, but a non-option when he's off. As you mentioned, he needs more support in front in order to be effective.

I don't want to seem overly critical, but Steve I think on your analysis of the 2nd Sabres goal shows your lack of experience in the game as it pertains to where goalies should be or what they should be doing. Maybe you just didn't go back to see how that play unfolded. Mrazek was in that position off the crease because there was a shot from that side of the net. Mrazek was in perfect position(I think he was prematurely down and maybe had to slide too much into that initial Asplund shot, but still, in the right spot) and the rebound landed right on the stick of Oloffson. If Mrazek was in the proper position to stop the Oloffson rebound then Asplund would have had a giant gaping hole to shoot the puck in short side. Did he NEED to be off the crease to be in position to make the Asplund save? Maybe not, but he would not have been in a great spot either way with the time he had to react to Oloffson getting that rebound. If Sandin had stayed on Oloffson(who was owning him in front just prior to the Asplund shot) then maybe our Rasmus could have tied up a stick or done something useful. Instead he turns to Asplund not in time to do anything about him and watch the rebound go straight to Oloffson for the tap-in.

I will never not support the Sabres no matter how bad, no matter how long.That said, these are the ONLY times im not rooting for the leafs!(thanks to this channel!) With that perspective, the Sabres played well, but the puck-luck was very on our side! From the leaf side...well....you do it better than anyone.

Damn, there were certain shifts (mostly offensive zone ones) where Rielly and Sandin looked good. But OOOOOFFFFFAAAAHHH they were downright awful on most other shifts lol

Didn’t your cohost say Mathews was the best two way player in the league? I guess his definition of two way doesn’t include defense.
@DaaaaaBears2 жыл бұрын
He’s top 3 in defensive stats for forwards in the league lol and the two ahead are scrubs that only play D with no offense, not sure what you were watching but this team has no confidence in goaltending right now and they’re giving up after weak goals
@Listman112 жыл бұрын
@@DaaaaaBears you’re right the Leafs are going to win the cup every year for the remainder of his contract. Use your eyes. The last 3 goals from Buffalo were jokes. He had no clue what he was doing out there.

The Leafs keep blaming the goalies. Where is the team defense? What about some D-men? This turn and burn approach hasn't worked since the 90's. Once teams tighten up defensively the Leafs start losing. There is no way the Leafs get past the second round.
@patodonnell33282 жыл бұрын
This, and it’s baffling how 90% of the fans don’t see it. There is zero defensive structure. They are the only team you watch, and it seems like they don’t know who to take, or where to be. How do you go 20 plus years with no structure.

Past the second round? Aren’t you the optimist.

When was the last time you saw a defenseman clear out the front of the net? How about win a board battle... There is NO grit.

@@russstephanson6987 Lyubushkin and the ghost of Muzzin. That’s about it.
@shakenbacon36552 жыл бұрын
Leafs defense core stinks, yet they always blame the goalies because it's an easy excuse. It's a lot easier to blame one guy, when in reality you have a much deeper problem that most fans don't want to admit. Every year when Muzzin gets hurt, their entire time falls apart defensively, there is no structure, no battle in front, etc, etc. The Leafs out score their opponents from raw talent, but they don't ever seem to win games by playing better defense.

Our defence is the problem. We need to figure out our defensive core, lock it in, and get consistency in front of our net. Apart from Reilly & Muzzin (who is now on LTIR) there are no veteran defenders.

Steve, have you considered delving into the Dangle-verse and presenting LFR as Mr. Rogers-angle where we love and value the Leafs because they are the only team in the whole world that is like them? We encourage them to try new things even if they might fail. And we all try to manage our feelings and fears together. People would support that, right?? You could make it work if you were the right cardigan. Or Hat Guy could present from his dream Matrix universe where the Leafs win every game 10-0, they sweep all playoff series, and win the Stanley Cup every season, and (people may find this part hard to believe) they operate with plenty of cap space. Or maybe Iggy could host an LFR?
