Look at (i) of the hit to the head rule. Angle of attack, timing, extension of arm or body to "pick" the head as a target etc. None of that applies. That being said, in today's NHL if you drive through someones head with your shoulder that is a penalty and likely a suspension. Either its a clean hit on a player who has put himself in a vulnerable situation, or its a dirty hit as the head was contacted first. It cannot be a major penalty and a 5 game suspension one day and no penalty at all the next.

One of the draws that the Leafs have when attracting UFA's has been their medical staff and medical facilities. I've heard many times how they have the best in the league and it attracts players with recurring injuries or is a reason that certain players will be interested in the Leafs. Their trainers are good at helping players recover and get back on the ice, and when they can't they provide top noch care that you can't get anywhere else while you sit on Robidas Island. Over the past few years the following has happened: Matthews: Injured with something that they can't figure out/fix. Sent overseas to a professional at whatever the injury is (They won't tell us) Nylander: Reoccurring blinding migraines that are so bad he misses playoff games (if it wasn't just a concussion they lied about and let him play with after game 3) Matt Murray: Injured playing with the Leafs, out for a year and hasn't played in the NHL since. Joseph Woll: Has played a total of 42 NHL games and has been injured at least 3 times causing him to miss time. Klingberg: Injury, then flew on a plane which aggravated this injury to the point where he hasn't played in the NHL since. Pacioretty: Played 13 games and looked good, before going down. We haven't seen him since and its looking like we wont see him for a while. This list isn't including Jarnkrok, Kase, Muzzin. We can assume with ALL THESE PLAYERS that the medical staff did everything they could to get these guys healthy again and playing again, but if they can't do it then that Advantage the Leafs had with drawing players is drying up.

My son said that he saw Knies pretty much fall off of the Leafs bench after the hit by Whitecloud before heading to the dressing room. All of the callups seemed to play well, and Woll was pretty solid. I wasn't impressed by Nick Robertson's play at all, he seemed pretty meh. It was good to see some feistiness and fight in the Leafs after the hit on Knies. I was really impressed with OEL's mean streak and Tavares getting into the rough stuff. It really looked like the game was going to get out of hand quickly after the Knies hit. SBA went nuts booing when there was no penalty called, and the Leafs ended up on the PK. It was good to see the Leafs not lose total control and actually lock it down in the 3rd period. It was my son's first game at SBA and it's an awesome memory for both of us!

I think OEL got the 2nd assist on the Nylander to Minten goal, not Holmberg according to the stadium announcement and ESPN.

They have so many Forwards out of the lineup now. They finally have depth in defense but now we're running out if bodies who can play forward. Maybe they should try putting Morgan Rielly up front and try him on the wing until we get a few of these guys back. I think they have enough depth at D to let Morgan try being a forward.

for the first time in the modern era, this team is good and you're not wrong to think they could really go deep.

Berube should be considered for Jack Adams at this rate, unbelievable what he’s gotten out of this depleted roster.

Vegas fan here. Whitecloud left his feet. The non-call for boarding against Theodore was textbook and far more dangerous. Look up a description of boarding. It’s as if that hit was straight out of a rulebook illustration.

Y'all are acting like going to Germany for a doctor is a big deal. Dude. HE'S RICH. He gets to go where he wants to get whatever kind of treatment he wants while the rest of us plebs wait 12 hours in the ER.

Leafs have let in 17 less goals in the first 20 games this season vs the first 20 games last season. So that is a very good trend

22:55 Steve let me know the weather in Halifax. I may move there. See if it’s like Ontario. With all those Gaundo & Rundy. Thanks Dude

The hit on Theodore wasn't a penalty because he looked Grebenkin in the eye and said to himself, "Oh no," and turned at the last second, hoping Grebenkin would stop. That's almost impossible for players. Theodore did it to himself. Brace for the hit!

@SteveDangle , if you get a chance in Halifax, go to Midtown Tavern (next to the Scotia Bank Arena - Metro Center). And have the steak.

Pretty rare that I think Steve gets something wrong, but there was nothing wrong with that Grebenkin hit on Theodore. If you watch the replay Theodore spins to get the numbers towards Grebenkin as he's laying the hit. You just can't do that, much less 2 feet from/facing the boards. That's on Theodore

Maybe more impressive that the Marlies beat Hershey last night with so many guys up with the Leafs.

I'm a Torontonian and have hit up Halifax a few times. Have dinner at the Press Gang if you have the chance. It's great.
