Steve Walsh left the band over not wanting to sing the lyrics Livgren wrote after his conversion. None of the other band members proclaimed they were Christian. Walsh was not going to be lead vocals. While laying some tracks at a local place in Kansas, everyone went to lunch, except Walsh. He just hung out in the studio and was just belting out there songs. When everyone came back, the engineer realized that he had left a tape on recording. He ran it back and hit play. He called the band in to see who this was on tape. They looked around and figured that it could only be Steve Walsh, they didn't know that he could sing like that.
