You might want to change the title from Mariah Carey to Phil Collins. 😄 He started writing it back in 1980/81, not long after his first divorce, with the original title being "How Can You Sit There?". It was left off his 1st solo album Face Value; at the time he viewed it as a b-side. Then a few years later, Taylor Hackford approached him to write a song for his 1984 film Against All Odds. So he rewrote it as Against The Odds, but Hackford insisted to have the word "All" in its place. So he complied. 😊 And in all honesty, I prefer Phil's version much more. It's raw and heartfelt. And although Mariah is a fantastic singer, no denying that, I find her version a bit too busy with that many notes.

End the comparisons of cover artists to Mariah..the greatest female vocalist of all time. It usually comes from people who are not familiar with Mariah's discography, the levels to her talent which knows no end, and her legendary status. No one compares to Mariah..she is the standard because everyone tries their hardest to be like her. There's only one Mariah. Her tone, the ease in her vocal ability(while singing in a signature style that is so very difficult..nearly impossible for anyone not named Mariah Carey) while being so technically sound is out of this world.
