Leyland Tiger chassis TRCTL11/2R with a Plaxton Supreme V Express C53/F bodywork
Supplied new to O.K. Motor Services Bishop Auckland and registered 1st February 1982 in a batch of six identical vehicles registered LFT 1X - LFT 6X
We hop aboard at Spennymoor High street and enjoy the ride to Newcastle following the route it would have taken in its stage carriage service days from Bishop Auckland - Newcastle
LFT 5X was sold by Ok Motors Services Ltd to a dealer on 24th March 1997 after 15 years in service.
It passed through two Scottish owners ( W Miller and Maynes Coaches) and on the 6th February 2003 was sold to C D Smith & Son of Brenzett Romney Marsh Kent and was operated on contract services (schools / works) for a little over two years , at which time the company went out of business, and remained abandoned in the yard till October 2012.
During this time it was subject to the harsh salt laden weather of Romney Marsh and the upper rain gutters having come away from the body and the ingress of vegetation from below.
LFT 5X was purchased in November 2012 by Mr Tim Phillips and was delivered under its own power to his premises in Cambridge.
Many years of restoration and preservation was carried out and I had the joy to see it back in Bishop Auckland in 2018 and enjoyed the ride around the town and Escomb village. ( Please check my other videos )
So 5 years later its been purchased by Graham Scarlett and brought back home to County Durham and organised this memory lane service trip
Many thanks for reading this and hope you enjoy the brief ride
