LG Dishwasher LDP6797ST Control Panel Failure (will not power on). Warranty scam by LG Canada

Purchased LG Dishwasher from Homedepot in July 2918
Model LDP6797ST
It worked great for about 14 months. 5 days ago the control panel stopped responding.
Called LG and was told the warranty for parts and labour is only good for 1 year on this model. Which has just expired.
I was certain that I had received a printed specifications page that mentioned 2 year warranty on parts/1 year labour.
After checking my files I found it and confirmed it. It does say 2 years.
Called LG again and informed them but was told that the manual says 1 year, and that is what they go by. They even told me homedepot "probably" had a typo on their printed Specs page.
Checked online and found many other people having the exact same issues

Decided to check on the LG Canada website and found conflicting information.
The link to the Manual was last updated in May 2019 and it does mention 1 year warranty for parts/labour. Unfortunately I no longer have my manual and cannot confirm if in 2018 it had 2 years on it.
On the other hand, the link to the Specifications page has not been updated since 2017 and has the same information as the printed page I got from homedepot when I purchased it back in 2018

Called LG again and was completely shutdown by a supervisor, even after I had them open the site and confirm with me on the phone that the Specs page shows 2 years warranty.
They will not honour the warranty and I ended up paying 400 dollars to have it repaired today. The part itself cost over $230 dollars.
As this is the second time an LG appliance gives me issues after only a few months of use, due to poor manufacturing, I have decided to post this video to warn others and try to get LG's attention to correct their business practices.

Mine. same story. bought from Home depot in 2018. Failed just after 1 year. I replaced the control panel and it worked a few more years. It is now Feb 2023. I am going to purchase another circuit board and hopefully get another few years out of it. At this point the dishwasher just takes vacations. It will stop responding to any touch. Then 2 to 5 days later it will work again. I am hoping the board fixes it again...

Mine just stopped responding as well. It has worked well up to now. Installed and gently used for 1 year 1 mo. Purchased from Best Busy w/o extended warranty for the same logic, a large appliance lasts several years. Thank you for doing the research. Very disappointing about LG not being honest as I have deliberately purchased many LG products.

I to have a dead lg dishwasher same problem and model. My home warranty opted to cash me out over repairing it. I to reach out to LG with no luck..So I'm moving on NO More LG's For me!! Thanks For your video!!!

Try to unlock it by pushing the two appropriate buttons simultaneously… (look in your manual to know which buttons to push). I would appreciate an answer if this works for you…

We have the whole appliance set and every single peice has had issues since the warranty expired. These are newer appliances, less than two years old. Refrigerator was first and took over two months to get fixed, then the microwave, now the dishwasher. And the convection oven/range top has never worked properly. We also bought an LG washer and dryer set that only lasted a couple months. I will never buy LG appliances again.

control panel has died four times in two years. and LG is expecting me to pay for their lemon rather than covering their faulty product. Will eventually get a new D/W (once the pandemic is over). Certainly won't be an LG

Just finished our remodel in our "forever home" 6 years ago purchased all new LG top of the line Dishwasher, Micro Hood, Gas Stove,Washer Dryer All Stainless. Fortunately got the 5year warranty from Home Depot sort of.....Refer died ($3800.00) took one year to get them to buy it back, after 3 catastrophic failures. Microwave Hood (400.00) failed after warranty, dishwasher just failed (900.00)...LG IS ENGINEERED TO FAIL>>>>LG MEANS LET IT GO>>> Never will purchase an LG again.....Good Luck. Also the knobs on the stove have degradded and peeled. YIKES>>>>

Another controller board failure here in a LDF8874ST. At least it lasted 6.5 years. Pretty good failure though since the power connector to the controller board completely melted and am surprised there wasn't a fire. The burnt wire and plastic smell lasted days with stove top exhaust running 24x7. Replacement controller boards can be located, but unable to locate a new connector for the board so far.

Same story: 14 months. Guarantee was doubled thanks to Master Card Platinum card. Had to have a LG approved repair person come out (had to pay $100 out of pocket). Couldn’t fix it because no replacement parts were available on the whole planet, Korea included, lol. So, after jumping through a bunch of hoops, was finally reimbursed the purchase price. Learned later that there’s a sort of lemon law in Quebec that protects consumers from a situation like this when it breaks down one or two months after the warranty has just expired. We still have it and now parts are available again. Has anyone replaced the power bar? How is it working now?

I had a nightmare experience with my LG LDP6797ST dishwasher. I kept getting code IE and so kept getting it repaired. After ther 4th repair I told LG that they needed to take it back. It took them 2 months to approve the return! My dishwasher was only 6 months old! Talk about poor quality! Before buying this dishwasher I thought that LG was quality but now I will never buy anything LG again. Buyer beware!

Its the same for all manufacturers. I recommend reporting them to BBB. Typically, they will reach out to try to make amends; however, it may take several months.

Same issue I have with my Samsung DW80K5050US, dishwasher is 18 months old, used once a week and the control panel does not respond no power. I've been dealing with Samsung over a week, terrible appliance and service.

Same here the control panel is not responding, I am expecting someone to repair it. But it is a lemon for sure. Let's face it, that should not happen on appliances less than 2 y.o. seriously. Dishwasher use to last 15 to 20 years without any problems. It is becoming a fraud.

Had the control panel replaced by a technician. New control panel was needed.
