LG Fridge/Freezer combo not cooling (Part 3)

It was a technician from LG. The company sent one after I called their customer service hotline.

Baloney, it'll be cold w/in an hour otherwise it wouldn't stay cold when you open doors.

Stayed cool after compression replacement! Fridge is still running strong so far!

What? In the diagnostic test the compressor was running and vibrating. What good is the diagnostic if the compressor is still bad?

@@sunnyBLR I think the LG linear compressors can fail due to a worn seal inside the compressor. I've seen some tear-down videos referencing this. The compressor still vibrates because the piston is moving, so it looks like it is working, but it is not able to circulate the freon due to the bad seal. Anyway, I am told that's what happened with mine. I had to get the compressor replaced with the newer universal LG compressor. It took about 5 hours after replacement for my fridge to reach 35 degrees. But it's been perfect ever since. I should also note that my repair person did not do the software update even though I was going from the older linear compressor to the new universal one. He said if the compressor comes on, the software update is not needed. I have not read anything to refute this or explain what the software update actually does.

It was the compressor. LG tech replaced it and fridge/freezer worked properly after 😀.
