LG smartphones have always been underrated. I still use my fully unlocked and notchless LG V35 ThinQ today with Android 9 (VIP). Runs everything you throw at it in 2019. Highly underrated.

Reuel Burton the S6 they got rid of the micro sd slot, no removable battery etc. Then the animoji rip off and now the one thing they mocked Apple for relentlessly, they've followed in the removal of the headphone jack.

@Reuel Burton Apple copied Android first then Android copied Apple and Samsung copied the iPhone design heavily... It's a blatant ripoff and it's just sad. LG made the g5, phones with high res dacs for great audio, phones with front facing speakers, speakers under the screen and their recent LG g8x actually functions while the galaxy fold does not and had to be redone... And LG did all this while being cheaper than Samsung.

Watch Reneé Richie’s video on how for years and top of years and lawsuit after lawsuit Apple won for Samsung copying every single aspect of the iPhone, it’s only after the S6 Samsung started to create its own identity. nowadays phones are basically maxed out when it comes on to innovation so it’s just about who does it better and in some rear cases first, now Samsung was the first to create the garbage fold and I’ll proudly give them that.

V1ralB1ack actually after the Macworld conference in January 2007, Mark Rubin and Co had to go back to the drawing board and essentially rewrite Android from scratch as at that stage, Android was heavily reliant on the qwerty keyboard. Sure Apple takes features from Android that would work in iOS but ultimately without iOS being as groundbreaking as it was, Android would be very different today.

Not sure if you mentioned it, but the reason the dual screen looks exactly the same is because LG actually decided to just use the same panel on both. That's why the second screen has the same notch (without the camera of course).

I'm getting this phone (mid-2022) to run casual games (Pokemon Go, Cafeland, Family Island, Subway Surfer, etc.). I paid around $150 for the used phone and case (eBay). With that, I'm officially retiring my LG G2 (2013) that I was still able to use for online games, but was getting too slow. This one should last me a few more years and I'm actually considering using it as my daily driver, replacing my S10+. ;-)

Hey Floss, happy that you give LG the love they deserve! I'm having a edge question that probably not a lot of people care about, but as a musician it matters a lot to me: how is the microphone / recorder app? I'm asking because back in the days I had the LG V30. The recorder app was absolutely incredible for a phone. You could record in high quality WAV format, you could put a limiter, a wind cut filter, set the incoming source volume, and monitor all that directly from your headphones. You could also record on top of some existing recordings or songs. I would be EXTREMELY grateful if you could answer this question. (unfortunately not a lot of people are buying or reviewing the G8X, so it's hard information to find). Thanks in advance!

@@khosta6690 it was LG's own microphone app. And as it was their built-in app it could do things than 3rd party app cannot do (add filters such as wind filter, hearing the song that you're currently recording when you have your headphones in, setting the threshold of the incoming volume, record over actual music). Honestly it was crazy for musicians that want to use it as a recorder / sampler.

That's $350 a screen! I prefer fingerprint access over face access. Better and simpler security to me. Camera is not a big priority, screen real estate is.
