I am enjoying my TK850! Only played a few 4K movies with it on my 135” acoustic transparent screen. It does take some tweaking on the settings to get the desired look though. I found turning the brightness down to 45% and turning the dynamic color all the way down, gave pretty good black levels. Light control is no issue in my dedicated theater, so I don’t mind turning this bright thing down! During football games it’s super easy to sacrifice black levels for a brighter picture and the lights turned up.

I'm a benq fan! I'm still using my w1070 and hopefully upgrading this year. I will be going benq again just based on performance vs price.

Good on you, mate but different projectors. This Benq is a Home entertainment unit whereas LG is more a HT dedicated.

I used to have that same BenQ and was hoping to buy another one but BenQ has been making medium throw projectors lately and my room is too large. I needed a long throw projector and this LG was perfect without having to change my ceiling mount and location.

It's hard to tell on TV, but you asked so I liked the Ben Q. When it's too black it's hard tell what is what especially if a person is dressed in black. 👍

I think that the BenQ has better resolution of the corners circles in your video test. The LG shows the lines steps in the top circles. Or can it be a focus problem on the BenQ ??

Nice one Shane. Is the lg quieter due to laser? Also the colour of the benq looks better saturated due to benqs out of the box calibration? I own the benq 3550 but i need higher contrast :''(

The UST usually have about the same as far as black level but the focus uniformity at all 4 corners goes to the LG hu810p.

Does the LG look as greenish/bluish in person as the video suggests at the end?

It does it when it's playing HDR. You can calibrate it out.

@@therealshanelee even current TV's have trouble with HDR - OLED doesn't get super bright - etc. A projector has a much harder time with HDR than a TV - so some people are starting to wonder if SDR is better because at least you can get pleasing accurate colors in sdr

Are these much better than similar price range 4K HDR ultra short throw ones in terms of picture quality and black levels ? I am using a UST one and love its convenience but wish it had better black level performance.

It's roughly the same blacks unless your looking at the epson.

I just found a Brand New Epson 5040 on sale for $1,500. For that price how does it compare to the LG? I’ve thought about keeping this Epson for 6 months then selling and getting the LG. Let me know your thoughts. Keep up the good work.

Would be great but I passed because it wont do 4k at 60 fps only 4k at 24fps. Found one with a 100 hours for $1000 but decided to wait it out.

Largest screen is 88 inches? Sure you have Microled screens that will 110 inches but thats gonna be at least $20,000. Still can't compete with a 135 inch screen.

I am surprised that the LG which costs twice as much the benq tk850 looks quite bad in terms of picture detail in the dark picture. I'd have to say in terms of details Benq looks much better - atleast from your comparison videos.

That BenQ is a medium throw projector and works great in a smaller room. If your room is larger then the LG fits your needs. Both are very similar in person but the LG wins in spectral highlights.
