But of course! Everyone happens to a have a built in floor drain right next to their air conditioner. Uugh.

Yeah, Right. I saw another video where someone position the air conditioner on top of a stool and then put a container under the drain. It's not like those ACs are easy to move. Why didn't they just design them with the removable inside tank?

I run mine right out the window through the window kit the exhaust goes out. I just drilled a hole in the plastic and stuck the hose through it. The humidity is so high lately, it runs like a faucet, and I can't trust a container to hold the water before it overflows. That happened first, I had the AC on the landing in the stairway, to cool the foyer and top landing. I had the unit in a tray, and the hose into a bigger tray, about 4 inches deep. In the morning, it had overflowed and water was running all the way down the stairs to the floor below. I have hardwood floors and the damage was significant. There are two windows in the landing, so I sat the unit up onto a small end-table, and ran the hose outside. Haven't had a single drop hit the floor since. But I don't know why none of the manufacturers can't make this a WHOLE LOT easier for us. **I also wrapped the 5" exhaust hose with aluminum foil. All the heat stays inside and blows on out the window, too. It used to really kick back a lot of heat into the room, but not anymore!

I just bought an LG ac. unit with dehumidifier. but guess what?!!! 😫😫 ... I am not able to use the dehumidifier because it came with NO hose. what a joke. 🤡 This is like buying a remote control TV but in order to use the tv you need to go and buy your own remote control. Who was the "genius" at LG corporation who came up with this idea? "Let's not include a hose so we can save a dollar"

Who the fuck has a floor drain in the bedroom? My LG portable conditioner worked fine for 1.5 years only (never filled up, never shut off), and then it kept filling up. Had to route it to a bucket because it wouldn't run for more than 1-2 hours. Now I have to empty the bucket 1-2 times a day. All the tiles are totally ruined in that area, because in 8 hours of sleep, it sometimes filled up and poured into the floor, and also destroyed the bedside pressed wood cabinet it's sitting on. Really dissatisfied, and it's so hard to find repairs, or actually helpful information like cleaning the condensate lines, or replacing a faulty compressor.

so does the lower drain only drain if the condensate tank inside is full? In other words, does using a continuous drain setup prevent the condensate slinger for working? Also, what if the device has a lower and upper drain? Which drain should be used in cool mode to take full advantage of the condensate slinger, but also still prevent the unit from becoming full and cycling off?
@LGUSASupport

Great question! As water is formed from normal operation of the AC unit, the slinger ring picks up the water and flings in onto the condenser so it can evaporate. Excess water then is transferred to one of these drains. One drain is used for continuous draining while the other is used for cooling or heating mode or for draining the tank for storage. Should you have further questions, don't hesitate to reply! ^Chris

@@LGUSASupport I'm impressed by the prompt reply but it doesn't really answer my question. Does the usage of either drain deprive the slinger of condensate? Obviously when running in dehumidifier mode, you wouldn't want the slinger active at all, so it would make sense that the slinger would be deactivated or that water would be prevented from coming in contact with the slinger. Which drain would one use (or are both just as good) when you want the slinger to function, but also want to drain excess water?

You shouldn't even have to do this. other ac units dont need this hose and doesnt build up that much water

Window units drip outside the window, though. All the portables I see have drains. Mine is never not dripping, so I ran it out the window.

I will never buy LG products again. Their Portable AC's suck, bought two had first one for 3 years before it crapped out, second is still working but with tons of issues, both units kept leaking from the bottom even with hose attached to the part where you release the water. Supposedly AC has a way of telling u when to release water but doesn't. And it's just not a little water. it's a lot. It comes out the bottom and sides and from the back hose. I had to place the ac in a plastic container to avoid water everywhere. We had to keep emptying the two containers with water pumps constantly, especially when it was real out outside. Their ac's are hella loud and pull too much energy. Bought a whytner ac and the difference is crazy so much better than lg brand, doesnt leak and will not turn on if the reservoir is full and u need to empty first, doest need to empty out a lot of water like LG. It's quiter doesn't pull as much electricity electricity and cools my room way faster. Also, LG's AC hoses to their units are 100 dollars each, they also suck and break within months of buying a new one, the hoses get too dry from the heat and cracks, had to spend 300 on 3 new hoses, eventually the hoses have to be repaired with foil tape, complete bs. Whytner AC has two sturdy hoses that have not given us any issues as of yet. I bought two Whytner AC units and love them both. I also have LG tv's that suck and keep losing wifi connection, with a quick google search, this is an issue with their tvs. Needless to say, LG has proven to me they make shit products, and I can say this from experience. Never again.
