LG S95TR Soundbar | Can LG's Best Compete?

I have this soundbar, with an LG G4, with wow, it works wonderfully, the subwoofer is placed in the left corner, so that the sound waves bounce off the walls, we deactivate the suround Otherwise it activates all the speakers and it makes an echo of voices in the back, it's written in the instructions

i thought using the tv speakers as well was a main selling feature. If I have to disable that for it to sound good, I can just buy any other setup.

That's tough. I would try both if you've never heard them. The q990d is the better overall. But the LG G4 can offer wow orchestral for movies, when connected to the s95tr. If you want a soundbar that can do it ALL, and is balanced... then the q990d is the better offering.

I got a 65" G4 and S95TR (why is this named like it's a Samsung TV?) soundbar system for a pretty solid sale price, under $3000 total, less than just the G4 cost a year ago. I had a pretty good experience with Vizio's Elevate soundbar (the more upscale one, not the flimsy looking and cheaper new one) from a few years back, which was made to attach to the Vizio OLED, so I thought I'd give WOW Orchestra a try when I upgraded my TV this time. I will have my TV mounted tomorrow and I'll see what happens. I guess I could return it and keep using the Elevate for now if I don't like the S95TR

@@pedro_ferreirinha u make it sound as if 11 is important coz most content is still 5.1 or 7.1 and wireless speakers is the worst idea coz u need to constantly charge. And WOW Orchestra is really good... You just see channels and wireless and think it's better huh?

What is the best HDMI cable to link the LG S95TR to the LG OLED evo G4? You mentioned that the provided HDMI cable only goes up to 18Gbps, so should we upgrade to a 48Gbps HDMI cable?

Too bad the rear speakers have wires to connect to the power. LG should follow the example of the JBL Sound Bar 1300 with fully wireless rear speakers.

I thought my S95TR was broken because the sound was so trash when playing music but I guess it just turns out it sucks with music. The HMDI is suspect because I could get DV when playing a 4K Blu Ray but it refused to do 4K DV when I hooked up my Apple TV 4K

Get the Samsung, I have the LG G4, LG Soundbars are not set up right, and last time I checked they were not HDMI 2.1. Soundwise the Samsung is better

Buy the tv you believe you would enjoy. The q990d is more well rounded and you would enjoy it with the g4 or the s95d👍

Does it buzz/hiss like the last few flagship bars? I tested all the new Samsung bars over the years, no issues but all LG bars have hissed for me and I’ve heard them doing it in the showroom so it would be interesting if you can hear it too. They work great with my LG TVs though but can’t stand the hiss.

I think the S95TR will be suitable for C3 77"". The combination of C3 and the S95TR is what we know as wow synergy.

@@davidkeller5664 samsung q990c or d. Another option i would wait for is the upcoming sonos arc 2. Bravia theater quad is another option worth checking out. If you are mainly only watching movies on a newer lg tv, the wow orchestra feature is still good with the s95tr. There are just more versatile soundbars out there. Hope this helps

@therokaphella, a quick question, when you connect the Samsung hwq990 to a LG tv via hdmi arc, does it auto switch the audio output to the samsung soundbar instead of the tv speakers when you turn on the TV?

When i first connected the Samsung soundbar with my LG TV I had to go into the tv's sound mode in the settings and toggle it to Hdmi Arc. After that, everytime I turn on my TV the soundbar turns on as well and my LG tv remote controls the volume

@@Deccani LG soundbars seem to have had issues that have followed me through various generations of both units and TVs (wifi issues, sound dropouts, muddy audio, etc) S95QR, SP11RA, SN11RG, etc But it also lets me do my own testing of Dolby Atmos latency issues in games (long running issue with LG setups, does not happen with movies) for new videos, etc. Have seen a lot of people move from LG to Q series and talk about how they won't go back. I don't recall seeing many (if any) going the other way. If I had the room I'd move to a full AVR setup and hope for the best there :P

It was very discounted for the price and S95TR has bad reviews and is currently not worth the asking price. Q990D was unavailable but losing those great LG C2 via Wow Orchestra by going with Samsung was a dealbreaker

@@DeccaniThe lack of an LED display is just ridiculous. Even my old Sony Soundbar has a display to let you know what mode it’s on and what connection it’s using. You can also turn the display off if you find it distracting while watching a movie.
