This monitor looks and plays great with a gaming laptop due to its large size and moderate resolution, allowing for better frame rates on most laptop hardware. Check out the LG Ultragear Monitor here: go.magik.ly/ml/23wa3/ Logitech G305 Mouse: go.magik.ly/ml/1v6o2/

Hey Gizmo, Thanks for all the reviews, I made my 2024 set-up with the Aorus 17x(you review early this year) and the LG ultragear 34GS95QE, smaller brother of this monitor, since this 45" was above my budget. hahaaa.. Kudos....

Lets see a review on the HP Victus from Walmart currently at 599$ R5-8645 w/ 4050. Nice machine for the price. Especially after adding a 20$ stick of RAM.

Hi Gizmo, sorry for off top. Please answer if you can. I'm planning to buy Helios 18 in the first place :D just researching upgrade options :) I'm now using oooooooold lenovo G570 (this part not necessary to read :) )which startet life as i3-2350m (2core/4thread) + 4gb single channel ram, which I upgraded to i7-2760QM (4core/8thread) + 16gb dual channel memory, with radiator upgrade from dedicated gpu models, as i7 is 45W vs 35w i3 (radiator from dedicated gpu models have larger heatpipe), also I modified it, as it won't fit bolt on (a little different internal structure). Now it's on it last breath and I'm planning to buy a machine for at least 6-7 years. Particularly I want an 18" laptop, as I don't have space for PC. I'm considering buying Helios 18 (2024) but have few questions. 1. Does it have enough cooling capability for 14900hx/RTX4080 setup, I know that Titan 18 is unmatched with Strix 18 close to that, but can Helios handle it, or will constantly get overheated. 2. Is there any way to do undervolting on Helios ? As I understand in BIOS everything locked. Is there any way around it, with pulling out BIOS battery and etc. 3. Does it have issues with CPU, as 13th/14th intel chips are "famous" for that (I would prefer AMD option, but Helios doesn't have it) 4. Can Helios pull of 96GB of ram (2x48gb) ? 14900hx supporting up to 192gb(in Titan 18 for example it got a realisation in hardware) know that officially it supporting only 32gb in total, but I saw that some had upgraded to 64gb. Will it support 96gb of ram, maybe not on 5600mhz, but on 5200mhz or even 4800mhz, which is ok to me. (I didn't find any info on that) 5. Is there any other option in this (or maybe a little more, but not much) price range with 18", mini-LED laptop market ? (Titan 18 would be perfect for me, it have everything I want (especially 4k mini-LED screen and unlocked BIOS), but it costs too much) Thank you in advance for answer and for amazing work that you do :)

At this point you may want to wait until the new laptops come out in January of 2025, to avoid the Intel 13th/14th generation processors.

Is 300 nits good for that price? I would buy LG C3 or C4 instead and I did. I bought LG C3 almost 4 months ago. Totally worth it. But I dont think that LG s gaming oled (ultra gear) monitors are worth it. They are pricey, yet no higher nits yet they are smaller than tvs
@GizmoSlipTech
@GizmoSlipTech 4 ай бұрын
Since it is such high contrast, it still appears very bright to my eyes at 295 nits. The peak nits should be over 400 since its HDR400 rated. That said, I would mainly recommend this monitor for indoor and light controlled environments. Bright rooms with windows with no blinds you’ll probably want a brighter nits monitor.

@@GizmoSlipTech yeah I agree with you, but still can't understand why lg cant offer higher brightness in this segment. Since when it s 16 inch laptop screen they can offer at least 400 and higher nits. If its a phone screen they offer +2000 nits. If its a tv, they als offer higher nits. Thanks for the review :)

Got to keep in mind smaller screens are a lot easier to boost the brightness.

I think the issue lies in the desired response rates, as well as higher refresh rates of 240 hz, backlighting panel availability, and the combination thereoff within the oled technology tree. Its why people are going to miniled displays can do over 1000 nits (but usually have worse bloom). Honestly, 1000 nits is overkill unless in direct sunlight anyway. I prefer closer to 500-600 so it isn’t blinding.

I have a question, is Intel crashing, and also high voltage problem only related to desktop CPUs or also laptop for example, I9 13980hx, 13950hx and 14900hx? I'm considering buying Asus scar 18 2023 with intel I9 13980hx combined with RTX 4080 12GB I'm going to start my first year in CS degree and want to buy a powerful laptop to handle my studying and heavy gaming also hope you tell me because I have been saving money for 3 years cant imagine getting a laptop and after a while it start crashing (in my country there is RMA, so I can't return it or anything)

How does this compare to the popular Alienware 3423dwf? Edit: I just realized this is 45"

I have both and have had the 34dwf for almost 2 years now and the lg 45” for only about a week. Took advantage of the summer black Friday deal and got it discounted deeply. The dwf Is a great monitor. But the lg 45” kicks it’s butt in every department besides ppi. And it should though. It’s 2 years newer. Hdr is freaking amazing on the lg. the dwf isn’t bad. It’s just no where near as bright. The hdr 1000 mode on the dwf dims the screen so much and the highlights pop but the screen is so dark is unusable imo. Peak 1000 on the lg is bright to the point where I have to close my eyes because it hurts highlights pop and looks soooo good. Hdr 400 on the dwf is really good. Sdr mode also on the lg is very bright. Lcd style bright. Sdr in the dwf isn’t usable unless you are in a pitch black room imo. It’s so dim. If you’re coming from an lcd to the dwf you will be like wtf why is it so dark?. The ppi on the 45” isn’t as bad as some describe it. Some people just want to dis a product so bad even though they have never tried it or own it and just say it’s bad going off the spec sheet. I sit around 3 feet back from it and I can’t even notice the low ppi. Seriously not at all. But if I stand up and put my face right in front of it then yea I can see pixels. That’s with any monitor though 4k and all. It’s just something you would have to try in the store. If you have a big desk the 45” is great. If you have a small desk then the 84 ppi will probably be an issue then 34” would probably be better. But rumor has it lg is releasing 4k ultrawides 34”,39”,45” maybe late this year but I don’t think so I say more than likely for sure early next year after ces like lg always does and shows off it’s new stuff for the year at ces then releases them a few months later.

@@SVT_LIGHTNINGthanks for the comparison. Do you think the matte display affects the clarity as well? As for the 4k, it’ll be a sacrifice in performance and no cards can 4k close to 240fps unless you’re playing some esports titles
@SVT_LIGHTNING
@SVT_LIGHTNING 4 ай бұрын
@@untitled4841 I agree 100%. Current 4090 even struggle. I use dldsr on and off this past week at 5120x2160 which the new 4k lg monitors will be and my 4090 hurts at that resolution. It taps out at the full power limits and nothing has been able to push my 4090 in almost 2 years but at that resolution it’s sweating. Not only on fps but 24g.b of vram isn’t enough for most games. Apex legends alone gets up to 20g.b of vram at that resolution. People have been begging for it but the gpu market isn’t there yet for that kind of resolution for gaming. Even with the upcoming 5090 it’s only rumored to have 28g.b. Not much of a jump. It’s going to struggle and be a card you will have to turn down settings to get decent fps and not just border 60fps. And the coating honestly 100% on the lg isn’t bad at all. The coating on my 34” dwf was so bad I removed it. Prone to scratches even during shipping because it has no panel cover. And you can’t clean it without making it hazy. It was unusable so I removed it. Have a video / slideshow on my channel about removing it and all. It’s way better without it. But I lost the warranty right after that and is it really worth it? For pic quality yes. But for long term not really if you care about having a warranty then no. But the lg’s 2024 model is a little different also. Lg was said to change it an little and I honestly don’t mind it at all. The reflections would be an issue at this size no way around it if it was glossy. But being matte it looks sort of shiny and the colors look just as good as my dwf with no ar film on it at all. But my dwf reflects everything. No light can be behind me or it shows. While the lg can have anything on and not be affected.

@@SVT_LIGHTNINGim hésitating with the corsair xeneon flex. Did you test it?
@SVT_LIGHTNING
@SVT_LIGHTNING 2 ай бұрын
@@onuralkan6848 I have not. But the flex is using the 2023 lg panel which wasn’t highly rated especially compared to the 2024 lg panel. 2024 model they made a lot of improvements. Brightness being the number one. The flex has its plus on adjusting the curve but no vesa mount and you’re stuck with the height with the flex. You have to use the included stand and it isn’t height adjustable.
