To prevent mold let the door and drawer that holds the detergent, bleach and softener stay slightly ajar for a few. Then close it. When you’ve finished washing all your clothes. Pour the residual water out of the drawer between washes. Wipe the inside of the rubber on the dyer and wipe the inner glass after each use. Once a month use one cup of distilled vinegar and let it run through with hot water. All of the above prevents it from stinking and mold buildup. I’ve been doing it for a good while. Don’t forget to drain the water out from the floor drain in the front. Mine is an older LG steam/washing machine. Just Bought the LG Thin Q today. Thank you for the demonstration 😊.

Our pedestals are being delivered tomorrow. You may need to check with Home Depot. LG changed the model number and they originally sent the wrong pedestals out with our washer and dryer! The salesman has been working there 15 years and was not aware of that! We just had him order the correct ones last week, so they are in stock!

Great review. I've had both of these machines for a little over a year. They've been great with no issues (knocking on wood). I've been pretty neurotic about drying the dispenser and drying the rubber gasket after every load, and not a spot of mold on the washer. I also use the tub clean feature every month, with tablets called affresh. I really like those drawers you have. Subscribed
@laqintin2
@laqintin2 Жыл бұрын
Aside from the rubber seal inside the washer, I haven’t had any problems. I had a technician to come out and replace the gasket and he made me aware that if you pull the clothes out the wrong way, the gasket will start to chip and the chip will lead to leaking when the washer is in use. When I want to do a quick tub clean, the technician advised that I use cleaning vinegar or maybe even bleach but more so vinegar. Thanks.

I thought I'd post this here for everybody to eliminate all odors in your washer, you must STOP Using Liquid Detergents. Liquid detergents have a high concentration of Animal Fats in them, this ends up coating everything and will not break down. We ended up throwing away a completely functioning washer before we found this out, switched to powder and have been 7 yrs smell free. Check ingredients on your liquid soap, it will contain animal fats. Hope this helps everyone.

@@laqintin2 I just bought the WM4500HBA washer and I love it so much I am having the dryer delivered this weekend. I got a better price than you did at Best Buy. Also the stands were cheaper. They have such great customer service I can't say enough good things about them. I originally ordered black stainless steel but LG discontinued that color in the stand so Best Buy switched it to Black steel for me because they have that color stand. I always bought my appliances at Lowes but after the big price difference and customer service I am now a Best Buy Fan. Original price for the washer was 1599 I paid 875 because of the problem I had with the stands. They gave me the dryer for same price. First stand I paid 250 and second 199. Worth every penny.

Bought this set and received it 4 days ago, the off gassing/burn in smell is godly awful! It literally had burned my throat from being in the laundry room too long. I have never in all my years bought a washer dryer that had an off gassing. It started literally the second it was delivered. I have ran cycle after cycle (probably 15-20) with soap, bleach, vinegar, baking soda and it still smells. The inside smells some but it must be the motor, etc, burning off newness. If I could get my old set back I would! Something better change soon otherwise I will return them. Anyone else here experienced that with this exact model?

I use to sell washers and dryers years ago. Electrolux is only a more expensive GE (General electric) and Frigidaire model, they’re the same company . There isn’t any longevity in neither brand. I kid you not. I would have store owners buy from me. They would buy everything but GE, Friggidaire, Electrolux. LG, Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAide are the brands you want to stick with when it comes to appliances.

We've had this same model washer in our home for the past 3 months. I had to convince family members about the lack of water use as well! My standard settings these days are as follows... "Tide Pods (Original Scent) + Permanent Press+ Cold Water+ Lo Spin + Normal Soil + Turbowash + 1 Extra Rinse". Tide Pods: I wanted to go "environmentally friendly" with some of the 100% natural pods. OK, I didn't try every single maker. I did try 3 different natural pods, and they all sucked. Arm and Hammer pods work well. But if you have someone in your family who will complain if there is no scent in the clothes when they are done, then Gain "Flings" pods and Tide pods work. Permanent Press: Some of these cycles like "Heavy Duty" are RIDICULOUSLY long. This machine once quoted me 2 hours! Permanent Press has never quoted me longer than 1:04 and has never failed to get whatever I put in it clean. I wash bedding, whites, rugs, everything in Permanent Press. I had a vibration issue when we first got the machine. Get yourself a leveling tool ($10 on Amazon), put it on the machine in the center just above the cycle selector so you will see it every day you begin your wash. Make SURE that bubble is between the two vertical lines on the leveling tool, ESPECIALLY if the washer on a pedestal. Get yourself some neoprene anti vibration pads (again about $12 on Amazon), 1/8 inch thick. DON'T get the 1 inch high thick ones, you don't want to raise the center of gravity any higher than necessary. The higher the center of gravity and the higher the weight of clothes in the machine, the more it will vibrate, ESPECIALLY if its not level! For MY situation, I have found that if I select Permanent Press, let the machine weigh the clothes to give me an estimate and it tells me anything under 40 minutes, then there isn't enough weight in the washer to make it vibrate enough for me to worry about. But if the washer tells me over 45 minutes, then it might have enough weigh in the clothes to make it vibrate more than I am comfortable with (but I am a worry wort, everybody tells me so). If the machine tells me any number over 42 minutes, I will remove some items from the washer until it gives me a time under 40 minutes. Cold Water: It is my understanding that most detergent actually performs better in the 45 degree to 60 degree range. Lo Spin: Our machine is on a pedestal, which is on a tile/vinyl type floor, in a very old house. If I had a concrete floor and no pedestal, I wouldn't worry at all about spin speed. But this machine gets the clothes so dry even on the low spin that I don't see any real benefit of going with hi spin anyway. Normal Soil: Using heavy soil hasn't made my clothes any cleaner (that I could see). Anything higher than Normal Soil seems to just add more time and not make the clothes any cleaner. Turbo Wash: Turn it on and the washer will lower its time estimate by about 6 minutes. Extra Rinse: I always use the (1) "Extra Rinse" option. Its important to get all of the detergent out. This model uses so little water AND only offer cold water rinses, so I think 1 Extra rinse is the way to go.

Hi, glad you enjoyed the review. I’m not sure about the odor you have but you can pick up some tide washing machine cleaner from Walmart, or just simply use a cap full of bleach. Also make sure you’re leaving the door cracked in between cycles. The higher end of this model does have a light in the washer but the middle and lower end models do not so unfortunately I can’t inform you on that. . From what I’ve seen before, that light can be replaced.

Seems like you’re able to customize any wash cycle just by selecting the cycle, then on the right adjusting the various options: temp, soil, spin, rinse, whatever…Correct me if I’m wrong. I know some cycles will have some settings locked, but generally there’s enough cycles/settings that you should be able to find the combo u need.

The fact there is no light can be somewhat of a blessing! My family has always had the old school top loaders, we had a Kenmore that none of us were exactly sure how old it was! Anyway, the main objection everybody had against me getting this washer was the fact the can't see the water level, therefore, according to them, there must be something wrong with it. Well, after two months, they have final learned to accept the fact that its just a little tiny puddle in there. One of the main reasons I bought this machine was the "Turbowash" jets that spray water toward the center. Its really a marketing ploy designed to shut up those people who say it isn't using enough water, it makes those people feel like its using more water. It really isn't though! If there were a light in there, you would be able to see just how little water its really using! Better that those "its not using enough water" people can't see in there!!!!

Looking into this or Electrolux brand. So hard to decide. Really worried about reliability, and servicing should we need it at some point.
@dwaynedaniels8140
@dwaynedaniels8140 Жыл бұрын
Reliability depends on whose numbers you believe! I don't trust sites like Consumer Reports or Wall Street Journal when it comes to reviews. Big money can buy a nice review. I like to listen to the words of people who could actually lose money if they endorse something that is crap! A retail store that sells its own service contracts executed by its service department (NOT outsourced) is going to make less money every time it has to service a machine under that contract. Its much more profitable for them to sell a reliable brand and just pocket your extended warranty money. Also if a local store does not honor its service contract (executed by their service department), its a lot easier to take them to small claims court or get the local TV station interested in doing a story about that local business. And yes I DO have personal experience with that. Its funny how fast a business will fix your problem when they find out you are going to be featured by the local news station in a negative story about them and they can't blame a third party! Check out the video from Yale Appliances in Boston. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnaQZn2inLSmeq8 According to Yale, if you want the most reliable machines, go with LG. According to Yale, if you want to have the best experience from the manufacturer if you do have an issue, then go with GE or Whirlpool. Watch the video to the end and download their Free Buying Guide, then scroll down to Best Front Load Washers. According to Yale, they are servicing the LG's at a 2.1% first year rate and the GE's at a 6.4%! (I don't believe 2.1%, but I can believe 6%.) Again according to Yale, the biggest problems with the WM4000's are (1) they lack an automatic dispenser, (2) the washer door is not reversible, and (3) LG lacks the mold control package. According to the salesman who sold me our WM4000 (at an appliance store in Torrance, California) the biggest problems with the WM4000's are (4) drain pump failures and (5) the computer control boards. (1) The lack of an automatic dispenser is only a problem if you are a person who cannot get over the urge to use too much detergent!! (2) The inability to reverse the door is a problem you should have thought about before buying the machine. (3) It takes 24 hours of dampness to grow mold. If you have mold on your gaskets, that means that for at least 24 hours you failed to get the gasket dry. (4) The drain pump failure is a legitimate hassle. But here's the thing. LG tells its customers to drain the drain pump and clean its filter once a month. I have YET to meet anyone who does that!! Whenever I would go to the box stores and ask people who owned a LG front loader about their machines, most of them would say they didn't even know HOW to drain and clean the filter. So yeah, the pump is a cheap $50 pump and its probably crap. But that's all the more reason to keep the pump clean and don't stress it out by letting it build up with gunk!!! Admission, I got my machine on February 18, I drained and cleaned the filter on April 18, I'm going to do it every other month. (5) The computer control board is another legit hassle. But its probably the only hassle that is never the customers fault! Oh, and according to the salesman who sold me the WM4000, he buys Electrolux. Why? He said he manages an apartment complex, and according to him the Electrolux's can take a beating the the LG's cant. Since I don't plan on abusing my machine, I should be good with LG!!

Normally the water should drain off from the ring surrounding the drum. Excess water just as well as the detergent should also drain off into the drum. Mine does not do this. I leave the door on my washer cracked after every cycle so that the moisture can escape and won’t cause an odor. Try pulling back the rubber ring towards the bottom of the drum. There should be a small hole for the water to drain. Also Make sure there’s nothing blocking that hole.

Yes it does have a filter for the pump and any water drained out of the unit. It is located near the bottom/ left side of the washer right below the door. Push the tab down and pull back to open the door. There’s a spherical shape know that unscrews, that is the filter.

What’s the best setting/cycle for the best wash and dry?
@laqintin2
@laqintin2 Жыл бұрын
We typically use “Normal” for washing clothes and the dryer picks the best drying cycle based off the washing cycle which is normally “Normal”. If you wash “bedding” the dryer will automatically choose bedding for the drying cycle, and so-on

@@monicalira1034I fought a vibration problem with this model for about a month. Solution: Black Neoprene Foam Anti Vibration Pads, Rubber Padding with Adhesive Backing, 6 in X 6 in X 1/8 in Rubber Insulation Anti-Vibration Pads (from Amazon for $12.99) AND Empire Level EM81.9G 9 Inch Magnetic Torpedo Level w/Overhead Viewing Slot (Made in USA), Silver/White/Blue (from Amazon $8.90). Put the leveling tool on the machine just above the cycle selector and determine which leg needs to be raised. Slip a Anti Vibration Pad under that leg and recheck the level. Repeat until level. This solved 90% of my vibration issue. My machine is on a pedestal (the quality of which I'm not totally convinced is all that great) and on a tile/vinyl floor. Ideal conditions would be a directly on a concrete floor. We do washing on Saturday and before that first Saturday load, I recheck the level. It could be the floor has a little sag in it, it could be the pedestal (which looks to me to be made from sheet metal) has a little bit of a "flex" to it under load and is not as sturdy as LG would like me to believe, it could be one of the legs on the washer (or the pedestal) is not quite locked. Just recheck the level before every wash day. And I try to limit the weight of the clothes in the machine to 10lbs and the spin speed to low. Heavy wet clothes, spinning real fast, is just asking the laws of physics to show up and make the machine vibrate (especially if its on a pedestal).

Do washer and dryers makes noise? Of course. TheWM4000 is LOUD. Motor sounds like a turbine. Water valves make thumps through water lines in your house. When Water inlets open and it fills with water it is loud like a fire hose. Don’t buy the LG line of washers.

Literally the most quiet machines I've ever owned. I can hear the chime signal much more easily than the machines. The water thumping issue is how your plumbing is designed and specific pressures can cause a water hammer issue. Add a 20 dollar water hammer arrestor to your cold water hose inlet at the wall and you should be good.
@cathypea
@cathypea 2 жыл бұрын
For the thumping in your water line, you may want to research a water hammer arrestor. I've read that installing those can resolve the water hammer sounds. Good luck!
@gregshirek4680
@gregshirek4680 2 жыл бұрын
@@AltruisticWarrior Its not water hammer, I have arresters installed. I opened the machine. It is the terrible design of the water lines and values at the top of the machine right under the cover. The opening and closing of the water intake values and the spraying is the terrible design, I'm surprised LG engineers overlooked this simple design flaw. I tried different size washing machine lines, you know, the ones designed for HE machines. That did nothing. I also changed the psi pressure to the lines that go into the machine. Not much difference. LG engineers that did not have noise as a criteria in their water valve design or water line location. All they would have had to do is put sound deadening around tubes inside the machine and use better valves.
