Thanks for the video! I have an LG WD-1486ADP3 which sounds like it has exactly this problem. I got it second-hand, and before watching this, didn't know if it was supposed to sound like that. Your explanation has given me the confidence to have a crack at repairing it myself. Cheers 🙂

Thanks for taking apart the old motor. I'll do it to mine, try fixing it instead of buying a new one. The dryer wasn't doing its job correctly, I opened it, cleaned all the ducts, the sensors and the fan. The cage was spinning smoothly, but suddenly the shaft got kinda stuck, hard to spin. Then I've put everything back in place and now, when set to drying, it shows the error message DHE...

Not sure what that code means. You might try doing an internet search for that code in relation to this particular make and model or reach out to the manufacture. My guess it something is wrong with the heating element or one of the sensors.

I had the same issue, but I save the 100 pounds the new motor cost, just replaced the rusted ball bearing.

Thanks for sharing this video. Mine was having the same noisy issue. After seeing your video I had managed to remove the motor. Not sure if disassembling the motor and oiling or greasing the rusted bearings will help, without any replacement parts, as my washer is quite old. I will try it later.

Its possible that a little grease or oil might help for a short time but i dont think it will be a long term fix unfortunately

I couldn't see in the video where the rubber seal, and the washer is set....between the motor and the pastic cage, or where.?

Honestly Id have to re-watch the video myself to answer that. If memory serves me, I think the rubber washer was a small, very thin seal between the motor and the fan to help keep water out. I think one of my issues with this motor was the over use of detergent.

These LG washer dryer fans whine and make a racket from brand new. My old Candy washer dryer fan was virtually silent. Considering that LG pitch themselves up market and cost much more than Candy I find it very disappointing.

Did you find that it was getting hotter then normal? We're having the same issue but getting hot as well. I suspect ours has poor air flow... FYI that washer is a spring washer, it's supposed to be wavy like that.

Its going to run a little warmer than a dryer that is vented since this model recirculates the hot air. I did find lint and fabric softener build up on the inside of the air duct. I would suggest to stop using the fabric softener and be sure to use as close to the correct measurement as possible of the detergent.
