Thank you for this video! I'm doing a Survivor analysis on lgbtq rep and this was perfect for checking my list against yours. I have two more additions if it means anything: Dana Lambert from Survivor: Philippines is a lesbian and Simone Nguyen from Survivor: HvHvH is bisexual. Dana was med evaced in 14th place and Simone finished 17th. So 43 lgbtq contestants over 40 seasons out of 590, ~7% (29 men and 14 women; 12 POC). One of the most glaring stats I found is that of the 103 returnee contestants, only 6 have been queer: Hatch, Varner, Ami, Colton, Tai, and Zeke. It's abysmal that fun characters like Coby, Reed, Brice, and Natalie haven't played again. Not to mention that Todd is undoubtedly the best one-time player left and has been sober and mentioned wanting to play again.

Wow! No (openly)LGBT contestants in Thailand, Amazon, Pearl Islands, Panama, Fiji, Heroes vs Villains, Nicaragua, Redemption Island, or Winners at War. That sucks. I'm also happy to see survivor's casting of LGBT players become more and more diverse, for a stretch it felt like only feminine white men, aka the gay stereotype. Not that being feminine, white or male is bad, just a common stereotype. Happy to see they have been casting better. Next step is bring back LGBT players!
