kinda dehumanizing but I mean i guess thats a big prochoice prolife debate, personally if the gender has been revealed i refer to them as he or she if not probably as them or 'the baby'- "when is the baby due" etc/

This is why I want a singular gender neutral pronoun to be adopted into English. They/them is fine, but it’d be so much nicer to have a singular version.

I have a question, I fully support trans rights and LGBTQ+ community and believe they should have full rights and all that but someone recently posted something saying the lack of trans rights is disgusting and they should have rights to all facilities of their chosen gender and someone responded saying they fully agree with trans rights and the right to transition gender but that one sex spaces (eg female toilets or changing rooms) should not be available to trans people because females that have been abused by males are not comfortable with it, it’s quite a dilemma as you can’t take away their rights to be trans but also can’t make it not a safe space. What do you think is the right thing to do? You’re like me and think all LGBTQ people should have rights but also these people are seriously struggling so it’s a tricky question
@joelledieduksman3 жыл бұрын
I have no experience with this whatsoever, but as long as everyone who uses those rooms is comfortable with a trans person/nonbinary etc. then it should be fine. tho, I think that it's considered rude for those women to say that trans women used to be men so they'll be afraid of them because those trans people are women (but I understand from the trauma pov that it's kinda scary to have someone there who reminds you of such things). this is actually a rly good question btw, and one which I am certainly not qualified to answer, but I hope this comment helped anyways!
@mitch85193 жыл бұрын
That's the thing, trans women are not men and if we will go by this logic, nobody with ptsd will never feel safe in public areas. I was also assaulted by men in the past but the only thing that doesn't mean my ptsd should come admist people's rights to use the correct bathroom. I believe a person would resist public bathrooms in general if that would be such a case.
@mitch85193 жыл бұрын
There are cis women who have been assaulted by other cis women in public spaces such as washrooms, giving them ptsd. It's not like we can ban all cis women now, so why trans women should go through such horrid treatment to pay for someone's PTSD.
@joelledieduksman3 жыл бұрын
@@mitch8519 very valid point. I think that there is no perfect solution for this, as both sides have good points, so I think we just need to compromise where we can
