I remember playing Test Drive 5 at a friend's house when I was younger. We would put in the cheats for invulnerability and stopping opponents and making your car jump when you honked the horn. We'd laugh hysterically for minutes at being able to bounce around the map thanks to the ridiculous physics and the opponents couldn't do anything. The soundtrack for that game kicked ass. And it was ridiculously easy to mod the vehicles because their models and stats were packed in individual zip files

Congrats, man! I only found you about two and a half years ago so I can't claim hipster status as someone who has been here from the beginning, but I always look forward to a new review from you. Always found the name kind of funny, considering how you show off the boxes, manuals, look into and explain history behind the development and companies of the games, explain genre conventions and compare them to contemporary games. I've found your channel a few weeks ago (actually it's been a month, I think. I'm not sure. Recently. Yeah, recently.) and I really liked what I found. Being an enthusiast of old hardware and software myself, your videos fills me with enjoyment. Like someone else said in the comments, you have a calm voice, chill attitude and little to no cursing. I really like when someone makes good content WITHOUT swearing all over it. It's good for a change to find someone who can make good stuff with keeping a good vocabulary at the same time. I hope you keep on more five more years then five more and so on. :) I just wish/hope that someday, since you mentioned you still got "a million" games to review, that you eventually makes a video on King of The Road (Hard Truck 2 King of the Road). Congratulations on 5 years! This channel's come a long way since then in terms of video and audio quality, although I do miss the older intros! I didn't have much of a problem when I played the game, although the graphics are definitely terrible for the time, as were the cameras. The AI issues seem like exactly the same sort of thing newer NFS games started doing.

I noticed the joystick in the background while you were sitting there. And I remember getting a lot of compatibility issues trying to get old(ish) joysticks to work with the newer software. I'd imagine the same holds true getting new joysticks to work on old systems. Think there might ever be a time when you will touch upon the subject of joysticks and such peripherals in general? I remember them being a much larger part of computer and gaming culture back in the day than they are these days. Either way, congratulations on lasting five years and turning this hobby into a full-time job that can support you. Here is hoping to many more.

@@karlimo4034 do a little research before responding to a six year old comment. All of the standard definition videos were edited to video tapes before upload. Obviously he has been uploading longer than you've been alive.

@@dwarf365 Asking you is my research and it proved to be fruitful. I think he using tapes means that his video camera was VHS format, because back then you could skip VHS altogether by using your crappy webcam, your IPHONE 2 camera or your DVD videocamera like AVGN did. Windows Movie Maker and iMovie were out back then, you didn´t need VHS tech to edit stuff.

This was my first racing game experience when I was a kid. Didn't get a console until I was a bit older, but my parents always let me play games on the PC, this was my first game after playing Tonka games and other things like that, always had a soft spot for it regardless of how it looks and plays compared to newer/better stuff. I certainly had fun playing at least.

I'm so jealous of what you've been able to create. You're pretty much the reason why I've gotten back into retro gaming. My brother Andy, who runs retrocomputers.eu, is currently getting the components together for me for my first dos machine. Recently I've started collecting handhelds and consoles too with around 80 games now in my collection. Favourite videos are probably your DOS reviews and thrifting (so annoyed that we don't really have those kind of charity shops in the UK). Again, thanks for all the great videos! They're just great :D

You can sometimes get an old, dusty PC that you can plop a copy of MS-DOS on from a "recycling center", or at least get some used components for them for a couple of quid. I used to work in one in Finland, and I built myself a system from the working components pulled from various PCs going trough and heading to the processing plant. Even managed to rescue an Amiga and a Commodore 64 from the maws of certain destruction. But that was a long time ago. The PCs coming into those now may be a bit modern fro retro gaming, but they might have some parts in storage or the occasional Pentium or 486 that comes in from someones' attic. But bear in mind that what they are often very old hardware so the mileage you get out of them may vary. And one more thing, always, always crack the case open and clean the case. And reseat all components. Also, it is a good idea to keep some spare parts. I wish you good luck with your retro gaming hobby. :)

I first found you about a couple of years ago when I was looking up on info of Disneys Coaster & since then I watched most of your videos. Sure watching this I got the nostalgic back when I first found you & looking thru the back catalogue of videos, which shows that this was in the spirit of your old videos, yet also it shows that you improved with 5 years of youtube behind you.
