LHD BMW E28 M5 project sold by Classic Bahnstormers

SOLD - £35,000. We are offering this genuine left-hand drive E28 M5 as a project.
First things first, let’s define project. This is possibly one of the easiest projects you could wish for. It basically needs to be blown apart, painted and carefully refitted. Some trim items need to be sourced, replaced, or refurbished but the car has already had a fantastic amount of work done and the best part is, it’s phenomenally free of rust!
The big attraction and what makes this project a bargain and so attractive is the lack of welding required. It is amongst the cleanest, if not the cleanest E28 shell we have ever seen!
It is someone’s unfinished project and whoever is lucky enough to scoop this will be inheriting not only a great body and superb panels but a ton of new parts that have been fitted to it also. The car has been re-bushed from front to rear with a mixture of heritage poly bushes and high-quality rubber items. All the arms and track assemblies have been renewed so all the ball joints are also fresh. The car has been fitted with BC coilovers front and rear, brake callipers have been freshly refurbished and discs and pads are all new! The rear subframe has been removed and refitted so genuine new brake and fuel lines could be fitted.
The engine and drivetrain all appear original but we have limited documentation so cannot confirm this. What we can confirm is that the M88 engine is in fine fettle and certainly still feels like its 280 horses are alive and well. Likewise, the M5 specific 280 Getrag and limited-slip differential are present and doing the business as they should. Engine runs extremely well, it would benefit from some replacement vacuum hoses and plenum hoses but largely there is evidence of it having been well looked after with new ignition components present and the cooling system also looks to have had new components throughout its life.
The car is an early home market (European spec) vehicle. Originally Diamond Schwartz over extended black leather. The interior is all present except the main carpet, from the cockpit and the carpet set from the boot. The handbrake console has also been damaged but it would be easy enough to repair. Although it could do with a good clean the seats and trim are all largely in good condition. The dash top is also crack free which is a massive bonus as these are getting harder and harder to find.
Exterior-wise, there are some missing items, the boot spoiler and spats and the chin spoiler. Although, all these parts are either available new or readily available used.
The car is not registered although a Nova certificate showing import is present. This is a great opportunity for someone to acquire an incredible project, where they can move straight to the pleasurable stuff and capitalise on someone else’s investment and hard work.
