love how ultimately it's the community that helps the child AND the father...

really back then there was nothing you could do about child abuse. Even in the 60 and 70's they didn't interfer with family affairs. which is very sad

I feel so sorry for the boy, its so sad the father beats him, a parent should never beat their child. It is never right to hurt the child, they could end up in a hospital if it gets worse. Poor child, and it is sad growing without a mother to protect him ;(

YOU HAVE THE HAPPY DRUNK THEN THE ABUSIVE ANGRY DRUNK ..THEY CANT THINK CLEARLY UNDER THE INFLUENCE..

Never anger a drunk cause all they want to do is fight with you. Poor Graham he's so sweet, after all when you're an alcoholic one drink gets you drunk.

Its interesting. When people talk of little house on the prairie, they think oh sweet, perfect easy going lives. however a lot of the episodes, most of the episodes in season 8 or 9 were very dramatic. my friends take the piss out of me for liking this show, probably cos theyve only seen the glimpses of 'niceness'!!! I love the dramatic episodes!!

You know, as sweet as she is, I'd love to see Caroline stand up to that father and give him a piece of her mind.

This episode is a great illustration of how child abuse cases should be handled. - On the one extreme, you have parents beating their child on end. - On the other extreme, you have a state that steals children from loving parents over a spanking. This episode shows how it should be done. Evidence is shown of REAL abuse taking place, and a public intervention takes place. The parent's rights aren't violated, and the child is cared for. WAY TO GO WALNUT GROVE!

My dad was and is and alcoholic but he was never that....weird. He was jsut outright enraged, all the time. What's the hardest I think, is when people tell you that your father doesn't love you, and you still want so bad to believe he does.

Not all the time, i have seen many angry drunks and they aren't pissed off at everything. The one drink gets you drunk is just a saying. An alcoholic will drink one, then another and another. Its just what people say.
